OLTL Recaps Week of July 23, 2007

Friday, July 27, 2007
Jessica told herself and Nash that she was more than ready to go home, but Nash told her that it was still too soon to make the big move. Nash, equipped with a water sprayer and raincoats, surprised a grateful Jessica with a makeshift honeymoon: a simple replica of Niagara Falls, sound effects included.

Todd returned to the hospital from his brief though wrathful visit to Miles. "Miles Laurence deserves more than a little strangling around the neck," said Todd, justifying his violent outburst. Starr told an infuriated Todd that she had gotten back together with Cole while he was gone. Before she had the chance to explain the complicated situation, Todd blew up at her, and she was frustrated by her father's stubbornness. Todd blasted Blair for giving Starr her approval of Cole, but praised Starr for breaking up with Cole. Starr vehemently stuck up for Cole when explaining his withholding of information about Todd. In a lull from bickering over Starr, Todd showed his appreciation for Blair's dogged efforts to find him.

Nora and Matthew warmly welcomed an uncomfortable Cole to the mansion. "Sounds like a hotel," said Cole, though it was apparent he had a lot more than room service and luxury on his mind. Matthew gave Cole advice about dealing with an absent mother, insisting that Cole will have to wait a much shorter time than he did for his mother to come home. After Matthew told Cole he'd talk to Starr for him, Cole called Starr, who insisted they talk. Starr thanked Cole and told him that Todd wouldn't have been found if it weren't for him. Cole was relieved that he had been rescued.

Marty finally regained her memories of the night Spencer died. John turned on the camera as she prepared to narrate the full version of what she saw in that infamous hospital room. Marty vividly remembered walking up the stairs to Blair's hospital room and wanting to save her from getting raped by Spencer. Marty then claimed that, in a moment of desperation, she grabbed the scissors and stabbed Spencer. John was still unbelieving of Marty's story, throwing out questions that Marty couldn't answer. "There's not going to be any fairy tale ending to this," asserted Marty, who was convinced that she really killed Spencer.

Bo, caught off guard by Paige's bombshell, reeled as she explained her decision to leave. "I don't want to leave, but I feel like I'm being called to do this," said Paige, who declared that she'd definitely be going to Pakistan. She was unsure whether she'd ever return to Llanview, and told Bo that her future was an open road. Bo expressed his concern about maintaining a long-distance relationship. Paige explained to Bo that she is still drowning over Hugh's death and she doesn't want to drag Matthew and Bo down with her. Paige and Bo passionately kissed goodbye.

Tate managed to grasp onto the edge of The Palace roof, avoiding death. Talia, insisting that she didn't want Tate to become an OPP martyr, told Vincent that he had to save him by pulling him back onto the roof. Vincent paused for a moment of contemplation, but eventually saved Tate. Medics brought him to the hospital. Talia escorted Adriana, Rex, Layla and Vincent to the police department, where they waited to tell their stories. "The ending was good and that's all I care about," said Rex to Adriana, who gave a heartfelt apology for not believing Rex about Tate. Tate taunted Vincent and the others with more racist insults as he arrived in the PD for a confrontation with Bo.

Marty was stumped — she couldn't remember any more details about the night of Spencer's murder. She wondered aloud about her innocence. John explained that they just needed to fill up the lost time from when she picked up the scissors to when she woke up. Marty asked John to keep an eye on Cole. Then she continued to think back to the night of Spencer's murder. When John said Miles was a tough guy (when he was confronted by Todd in his cell, read below) something came back to Marty. "I remember," she said.

Blair recounted the whole Sarah/Hunter story to Todd. Jack rushed to his father's side. Starr and Blair explained how Miles paid Hunter to keep him drugged up. "Miles knew exactly what he was doing," Blair said. "Marty murdered Spencer," she added. Todd was amazed at what had happened while he was gone. Dorian, Starr and Jack and Blair headed to Carlotta's diner to get tasty food for Todd. When they returned they found his bed empty — he had gone to pay a visit to Miles in prison. The guard had to keep Todd from choking Miles. Todd left Miles with his trademark smirk.

David returned the $10 million to Clint's account. "This is real?" Viki asked. David said the way Viki looked at him when he agreed to give part of his liver to Jessica made him want to give the money back. Viki graciously accepted the funds back and forgave him. David was relieved, but Dorian had a fit when she learned about his returning the money to Clint. David said he was starting to feel good about it: "Does nobility feel better than feeling rich?" he asked. Dorian said she was proud of him for thinking of someone else for a change. David and Dorian kissed goodbye and Nigel came by to offer the Buchanan thanks for returning the money.

Bo asked Talia to upgrade Tate's status from person of interest to suspect. Talia rushed off. Paige came and said goodbye to Bo. She was leaving Llanview.

On The Palace roof, Tate held a knife to Layla's throat. "Step a way from the door, or she dies," he instructed Rex and Adriana. Tate explained that his father wouldn't support his actions. Tate forced Adriana to tie up Rex. He saw that Vincent had a knife, so Tate took that away. Adriana said she'd do anything to save Layla, Vincent and Rex's lives and willingly went out on the ledge. "Now jump," Tate said. At the police station, Talia couldn't get through to Vincent, Layla and company. Talia got a tip from Renee about Vincent's romantic dinner and headed to The Palace roof. Once she got there, she drew her gun and cried, "Freeze! On the ground, now!" Tate tumbled down.

A barely conscious Todd kept muttering "my son, my son" as Michael tried to take his vitals. (Those were not the words Michael wanted to hear, of course.) Michael told Blair and Viki that Todd would make a full recovery. Paige let Blair and Viki go in and talk to Todd, much to Michael's frustration. Paige asked him point blank if he really wanted Todd to recover. (We all know that if Michael ruled the world, Todd would be dead.) Paige suspected that Michael had a hidden agenda with Mr. Manning. Michael claimed he had no such agenda and promptly welcomed Todd back. Meanwhile, Viki promised her brother that they'd help him find his son. Paige gave Viki a message: David really wants to speak to her and it's urgent. Viki made it clear she didn't want to have any more dealings with the man who charged her family 10 million dollars to save Jessica's life.

Blair and Viki were delighted to see Todd improving, talking and making wisecracks. He thought it was quite funny that he had been found drunk with a prostitute. Todd recounted the last few months of his life to Blair and Viki. He remembered hearing a baby's voice, being stabbed and walking through the woods, but very little else.

Starr brought Markko and Langston up to speed on the whole Cole and Marty saga. Langston thought Starr did the right thing by dumping Cole. Markko wasn't so sure. Blair called and told Starr they found her dad. Moments later, Starr ran into her father's arms.

Cole visited his mom in jail. Nora also visited Marty, who asked Nora to take care of "my son." Nora said Cole could live at the Buchanans, but Cole wanted to crash on John's couch. Marty reminded Cole that she was still the parent, and Cole would be best off at the Buchanans. Nora promised to ask John to keep Cole in the loop. Marty tried to keep from crying when she said goodbye to Cole.

David learned he was on the takeout blacklist at The Palace. John told David he was going on camera to tell the world that he knows who killed Spencer. However, David's brand new pricey attorney arrived and told John to cease and desist in the "harassment of my client." John backed off. John later told Marty that David would no longer be helping them force out the real murderer.

Layla went to meet Vincent on the roof of The Palace, only to find him tied up and Tate hovering nearby with a knife. She tried to escape but Tate stopped her with his knife. When Adriana called Layla's cell phone, Tate answered the call. He terrified Adriana and told her to join them on the roof immediately, with "no cops, no Rex." Adriana tried to hide her fear but Rex knew something was up. She ditched Rex and headed for the roof, but Balsom was right behind her. Meanwhile, Tate held his knife at Layla's throat as Vincent tried to wriggle out of the ropes tying his hands together.

Viki paid a thank-you visit to David, who was already planning what to do with his newfound millions. "Your secret is safe with me," said Viki, referring to what she thought was David's guarded good nature, remaining unaware of his real secret. Clint walked in as Viki was giving David her present, a new computer, just in time to throw the undeserved gift across the hospital room and reveal to Viki what David really got out of the surgery — 10 million dollars of cold, hard Buchanan cash. A shocked and disgusted Viki told David they were no longer friends and rejected his apology. David warned Clint that he'd soon regret telling Viki the truth. He threatened to go to the cops about Asa, but Clint retorted with an equally menacing jail threat.

Rex and Adriana arrived at the police department and insisted on seeing Bo, who wasn't as quick to act on Rex's suspicions as Rex hoped he would be. "It turns out I was right about him all along," said Rex, before telling Bo about the OPP medallion Adriana found in Tate's bag. Talia assured Bo that Tate had been on the radar since the beginning, but Bo remained unmoved by the growing evidence, citing Tate's prominent role in the community. After finding out that Tate didn't show up at the TV station for work, Bo's suspicions finally flared. He declared Tate a suspect, and ordered Rex to never leave Adriana's side. No problem there. "I'm suspicious of everyone and everything, especially when it comes to you," said Rex to Adriana. Talia followed the pair to Adriana's apartment to look for the medallion, only to discover that it had been taken from the garbage.

Preparing a storybook scene of romance, an excited Vincent told Shawn and Renee that he needed the night to be perfect because of what he was planning on asking Layla. "Who said anything about a proposal?" said Vincent when Shawn and Renee mentioned the big question. He claimed he would only be asking Layla whether she wanted to start dating him exclusively. Renee assured Vincent that he and Layla would be left alone for the rest of the evening. "Just keep yourself out of trouble without me around," warned Shawn, before Vincent dismissed him.

Tate startled Layla, who immediately demanded to know what he was doing in her apartment. Desperately attempting to cover his tracks, he replied that he had been taking a nap on Adriana's bed. Tate warned Layla about getting involved with a man like Vincent Jones. "You and Adriana are very important to me," he said, and added that he didn't want to see her get hurt. Layla ignored him and excitedly answered Vincent's phone call, which instructed her to meet him on the roof of The Palace. Tate left the apartment and arrived at The Palace roof where, using his baseball bat, he knocked out an unsuspecting Vincent.

Michael and Paige commented on the atypical calmness in the hospital, though Michael seemed to have anything but calm things on his mind. He asked Paige if she regretted giving up Hugh as a baby. Paige answered that, in fact, she did not regret what she did, unknowingly speaking to Michael's fears about Tommy.

John and Blair stormed into a hotel room where they found a knocked out Todd in bed with a sketchy woman. Blair ran to Todd who somehow mumbled a greeting to her, but soon faded back to unconsciousness. John, after calling an ambulance, identified the woman as a prostitute named Kandy, who claimed to have met Todd and partied with him, infuriating Blair. Kandy told John and Blair that she didn't know Miles. While John brought Kandy into Bo's office for questioning, Blair wheeled a delirious Todd into the hospital.

Tate hid in Adriana's apartment when Vincent and Layla came in. Layla thought she heard something so she looked around the apartment, but found nothing. Vincent assured Layla that there was nothing for her to worry about. "It's over," he said, referring to the fact that Kirk was dead. Layla and Vincent began talking about how awful the One Pure Party members were. Tate stayed in the closet but was clearly becoming angered. Layla wondered if Tate really was "like his father after all." Vincent asked her, "Why would you wonder?" He didn't want Tate anywhere near Adriana. In the closet, Tate put his OPP medallion around his neck. Vincent reminded Layla that she needed to focus some attention on herself. With that, he said he had a surprise for her. The two started kissing while Tate watched from the closet. Vincent left. Layla turned as she closed the door and Tate was right in her face.

Adriana told Rex he might have been right about his hunch about Tate's association with OPP. Rex asked Adriana to explain what she meant. Adriana explained that Tate had wiped his hand after he touched Vincent's shoulder, for one. Then at the funeral home, Tate asked if the director was Hispanic. Rex agreed that things these were more than random, "but we certainly can't prove anything." Adriana added that she found an OPP medallion in Tate's backpack, and he had been very annoyed when Adriana insisted he throw the medallion away. Rex hoped they could catch Tate before anyone else gets hurt. He and Adriana headed over to police headquarters to bring Bo up to speed on their suspicions.

John and Blair were out looking for Todd in the hills. Blair asked a local resident if he had seen Todd on any of the trails. The hiker realized that Todd had taken his phone out of his stashed backpack. Blair got a phone call from Todd, who managed to call her from the motel room. John got on the phone but Hunter hung up before Todd could reply. John had the call traced. Moments later Blair and John broke into Todd's room. They found him passed out in bed with a young woman beside him.

Earlier, Hunter threw Todd into a motel room. He soon returned with a cheap bottle of booze. He splashed the alcohol around Todd and gave him something to drink. There was a knock on the door. Hunter opened it and said, "He's all yours."

Cole begged Starr for a chance to explain himself. Starr replied, "If my father's dead it's all because of you." Cole continued to protest. Starr wouldn't hear it and proceeded to explain that Brittany was right when she said Cole was hiding something from Starr. She didn't even believe Cole when he said he loved her. "I hate you. I mean it. It's over, Cole, and we're over. Now get out," she seethed. Cole insisted Starr listen to him. He tried to explain that his mother was about to go to jail. Starr accused Cole of preferring his mother's freedom to her father's life. "Your dad raped my mom. And I'm supposed to take him over her?!?" he screamed. Starr became silent. Cole added that Miles asked him to kill Todd. Cole explained that Miles blackmailed his mother into marriage. Starr wasn't moved.

A locked up Miles shared his frustrations with Spencer. Miles wondered if he should have stayed in the hospital. "I should have stayed a monster," he lamented. Spencer reminded Miles that all his problems could be traced back to Todd and that Miles should have killed Todd while he had the chance. Spencer also remarked that Miles should have consummated his marriage, because now Marty could just have it annulled. Miles didn't understand why Marty turned herself in to the police.
