At the Lopez-Fitzgerald home, Sheridan stood up to Alistair in front of everyone. The National Guard arrived to pick up Rachel's coffin, but were unsure as to what to do because the graveyard was still flooded. Sheridan stalled the Child Protective Services and asked for a final few moments together with Mark before they take him away. Alistair announced he'd be going home — with a reluctant Katherine. In a surprising moment of compassion, Pilar pulled Katherine aside and expressed apologies and condolences for how Alistair has been mistreating and abusing her. Pilar said while she wouldn’t be able to forgive Katherine for what she did in running away with Martin, she at least now has some understanding for why she did what she did. Pilar also expressed her admiration for the sacrifices Katherine has made for Sheridan. The National Guard finally sealed Rachel's coffin and removed it. Afterward, Sheridan reluctantly gave Mark to the Child Protective Services agent as Gwen comforted her.

Noah and Fancy continued their escapades in the deserted department store. They happened upon a vibrating bed, where Noah began to give Fancy a sensual back massage. Afterward they cuddled and shared quiet time on the bed. When Noah stepped away Fancy became unsettled when she read a love letter she discovered in Noah's wallet. When Noah returned with champagne Fancy was upset and angry and, without explaining why, told Noah she just wanted to get out of the store and away from him ASAP.

Ivy crashed a close moment between Fox and Kay to rain on their parade. After sending Fox on an errand, Ivy tried to scare off Kay where Fox is concerned. Ivy told Kay that Fox could be a lot of fun but isn't the settling-down type. Ivy's words took hold in Kay's mind. When Fox returned and asked to talk about the night before, Kay stonewalled him and declared that things were over between them. Fox was stunned, while Ivy watched gleefully from the sidelines. Later, Simone lent Kay an ear and a shoulder as Kay vented about her disappointment in Fox's playboy ways.

In a candid conversation, Theresa explained to Ethan that circumstances compel her to ally herself with a powerful, though dangerous player like Alistair. Ethan insisted that she can't trust Alistair. Ethan recalled his own experiences growing up when he thought Alistair was his grandfather, watching and observing all of the evil and despicable things Alistair has done to people. Theresa insisted that Alistair is just a means to an end, and declared that once she has her baby back in her arms Alistair will be "dead" to her.

Hearing Fancy's screams throughout the department store, Noah ran running back to the employee locker room and opened the shower curtain expecting the worst, only to find Fancy alive and well. Fancy explained she was screaming from the ice-cold water. Noah dismissed her as a drama queen. After her shower, Fancy took advantage of the department store and got all dressed up. She took the escalator upstairs and met Noah, who was decked out in a tux. Noah handed her a rose and showed her to a table he had laid out with linens, candles, fine china, and gourmet foods he collected from throughout the store. Fancy asked Noah if he was interested in playing out all of their fantasies in the store, and he said yes. He asked her to close her eyes. She did, and when she opened her eyes again Noah was gone, only to soon pull up in a motorcycle. The two began to dance. Fancy teased that Noah danced very well "for a biker boy."

At the Lopez-Fitzgerald home, Sheridan begged her father to intercede on her behalf and allow her to keep custody of Mark. Alistair refused, and declared he wouldn't be a party to Sheridan indulging in another one her "juvenile machinations." Alistair called Sheridan pathetic and unstable for latching onto the child of a dead woman she'd just met. Alistair needled Sheridan by suggesting that Luis probably ran off with Beth and Marty and left Sheridan in the dust. Ethan stood up to Alistair and told him to shut up. Alistair warned Ethan to not interfere in his business. Alistair continued to dress down Sheridan as everyone looked on in horror. Everyone privately wondered how Alistair could be so cruel and vicious to his own child. Ethan pulled Theresa aside and asked her if Alistair is the kind of man she wants to associate herself with. Sheridan shocked everyone by standing up to Alistair, she told him to go to Hell and dispense with his silly mind games. She accused him of mentally abusing her and enjoying it, and declared that she's stronger for it and accused him of being the one who is mentally ill.

Simone recounted to Sam and Ivy her run-in with Jessica and Spike. Sam and Fox became enraged at Spike's apparent brainwashing and mental hold over Jessica. Sam then questioned Simone about how she managed to get back to Harmony from California in the midst of the the earthquake and tsunami. Simone did her best to cover, but Kay wasn’t buying her story. Kay insisted that Simone was never really in California. Simone insisted she can't tell Kay what's going on right now.

Chad refused to promise to Whitney that he wouldn't tell anyone the truth that he's Miles' biological father. Whitney ran off to make a confession to Father Lonigan that she slept with her brother, AGAIN. She told Father Lonigan it would be best for everyone if she were dead. Father Lonigan insisted that suicide is a sin and is never the solution to anything, and only God has the right to take life. He instructed Whitney to pray for strength to resist temptation. Whitney said she must do more than that — and decided she would run off and join a convent to ensure that she'll never sleep with Chad again.

Tabitha continued to needle Kay about her newfound interest in Fox, while Ivy continued to badmouth Kay to Fox. Kay was horrified when Simone filled her in about Jessica. Kay questioned Simone about why she wasn't in California. Simone tried to cover for her whereabouts by saying she coincidentally just got back to town moments before the earthquake hit. A skeptical Kay picked apart Simone's story, and demanded to know what Simone's really been up to. Gwen berated Ethan for Theresa and Alistair's machinations. The police insisted on taking Mark to Child Protective Services, but Sheridan refused, as Pilar, Martin and Katherine looked on. Child Protective Services arrived and demanded that Sheridan turn Mark over to them. In desperation, Sheridan turned to Alistair for help, so that Mark doesn't end up falling through the cracks of the system.

Alistair played spoiler by informing the police that Mark's mother died during the storm and had no apparent blood relatives around. The police then announced they'd have Mark put in the custody of Child Protective Services, over Sheridan's objections. Sheridan refused to hand Mark over to the police officer.
