PASSIONS Recaps Week of Dec. 19, 2005

Friday, December 23, 2005
At the town tree-lighting ceremony the townsfolk were amazed and mesmerized by the spinning and levitating of the town Christmas tree. Whitney flashed back to a past Christmas when she and Chad were happily together and kissed. Whitney's memory freaked her out, and she ran off from Chad and Miles. Sheridan and Chris took a moment to reflect how happy and lucky they are to have found each other after all the loss they've endured, and headed to mass.

At Tabitha's house, Norma and Edna helped themselves to Tabitha's booze and snacks as they laid in wait for Tabby to return. When they put on Tabitha's TV they spotted the spinning tree at the town square as part of live coverage of the tree-lighting ceremony. They quickly realized Tabitha must be behind such magic and made a beeline to the ceremony. Tabitha realized that Norma and Edna might have spotted Endora's magic on TV, ditched Endora with Fox and Kay. Kay asked Theresa to watch Maria while she and Fox ran off to find Endora, who wandered way. Endora was riding through the sky on giant flying candy cane. Meanwhile, as Tabitha prepared to flee she ran right into Norma and Edna. Tabitha pleaded for her life as Norma chased he around the tree with her axe. When Norma finally caught Tabitha she prepared to axe her when Edna intervened, wanting Tabitha to make her young and pretty again before Norma kills her. As Edna and Norma argued, Tabitha cast a spell on them that miniaturized them. Endora returned from her "flight" in time to cast a second spell that trapped them inside a glass ornament on the town Christmas tree. Endora caused some mistletoe to fall down on Fox and Kay. Fox professed his love to Kay and they kissed.

At the police station, Sam spoke to Noah behind bars, and offered his support to his son and wished him a Merry Christmas. Meanwhile Fancy was busy preparing a very special Christmas for them. Noah's guards took him from his cell to a private room in the precinct where Fancy was waiting with lavishly decorated Christmas Eve extravaganza. The two of them enjoyed a romantic champagne toast and danced and dined the night away. Noah said thanks to her this went from the worst Christmas to the best Christmas ever.

At the hospital, Theresa insisted she need to stay with Ethan to try to save him. Pilar and Martin told Theresa there's nothing more she can do, and they took her with them to attend the Christmas Eve mass. Inside Ethan's room, Gwen confirmed with Eve that the latest test results show no change and no hope in Ethan's condition. Ivy thanked Gwen for being a loving and dutiful and loyal wife. Eve reminded Gwen there was no need to rush to pull the plug. As Gwen prepared to turn off Ethan's respirator she heard the sound of children caroling through the halls of the hospital, and decided she didn't want to pull the plug on Christmas Eve and cast a permanent pall on the holiday.

At the church, Pilar questioned Martin about the loss he eluded to — did he mean her or Katherine? Katherine stepped in and reassured Pilar that Martin has eyes only for her. Katherine shared a warm moment with Julian and Sheridan before the service. Sheridan noted this is their first Christmas together again as a family. Theresa tearfully prayed for a miracle to save Ethan, and begged God to find a way to keep him alive. As Theresa concluded her prayer she noticed Gwen, who heard everything Theresa said during her prayer. Gwen tearfully insisted to Theresa that pulling the plug on Ethan is the last thing she wants to do, but has no choice. Sam lamented to Ivy his wish that Jessica be with him for the holidays. He was pleasantly surprised when a sober Jessica arrived, with Paloma and Roberto accompanying her. As the service began, Katherine and Pilar warmly wished each other Merry Christmas, and Simone arrived to join Eve and Julian, while Whitney joined Chad and Miles in their pew.

As Father Lonigan began the service and addressed the congregation he heard a noise in the rear of the sanctuary, and welcomed the latecomer to join the service. To everyone's astonishment, Ethan rolled up the aisle in a wheelchair. Theresa went to approach him but Pilar told her now is not the time. Gwen and Jane tearfully reunited with Ethan, as everyone in the congregation thanked God for their Christmas miracle.

Thanks to Endora's magic, what did the spinning Christmas tree spin off to the townsfolk?

Alistair visited Theresa, Noah and Fancy in jail. He told Theresa he couldn't wait to spring her so he could have his way with her back at home. When Theresa told Alistair he disgusted her, he instructed her to change her attitude or suffer the consequences. After all Alistair's taunting, Fancy was surprised to learn that he had already paid Theresa's bail. Alistair explained that Theresa challenges him in a way no other woman has and then raved about Little Ethan's future as heir. He let Fancy know that he'd bailed her out too, but refused to bail out Noah. Later, back at the manse, Fancy spotted a tape recorder and tried to set a trap for Alistair. With the tape running, she made up a story that led him to call and threaten a sales clerk.

On her way out of town, Tabitha reconsidered her decision to go on the lam by herself, and decided that she could not allow herself to be separated from Endora, no matter what the risk. Harmony's residents gathered in the town square for the annual tree-lighting ceremony. Kay and Ivy faced off over Fox, but ended in a stalemate when both realized that ratting on the other would harm them both equally. Martin told Pilar how much he'd missed the tree-lighting ceremonies. Spurred on by James, Endora spread a little mischief by setting some of the presents under the town tree on fire, but Sam, Fox and Martin quickly put it out. Once the tree was lit, she and James remained under-whelmed, so Endora made it spin. Tabitha warned her daughter to watch her magic or she'd end up giving herself away. Instead, she upped it a notch and lifted the spinning tree in the air. Tabitha saw it as a bad omen.

At the hospital, Eve asked Gwen if she still wanted to follow through on her intentions to pull the plug on Ethan. Gwen insisted it was the last thing she wanted to do, but what she had to do because it was what Ethan wanted. When Eve stepped out to check on Ethan's latest test results, Gwen professed her love to Ethan and apologized to him for having Theresa rob them of precious time together. Then she called Sam with news of Ethan's return. Ivy rushed to see him at the hospital, while Sam, Pilar and Martin went straight to jail. Of course, Theresa was already out of jail and at the hospital with Ethan, no less committed to saving him. Gwen was furious to find her out and when Theresa not only refused to leave, but also swore she would keep Ethan alive, Gwen went on the attack. Catfight! Eve and Martin separated them and Theresa was dragged out screaming. Her parents gave her a stern talking too, but Theresa wasn't hearing it, so this time they dragged her to the chapel to pray for Ethan. Eve, meanwhile, returned to the hospital room with news that Ethan's test results remained the same, but told Gwen she didn't have to rush. Gwen started questioning whether she could go through with unplugging him.

Norma and Edna got pulled over by the highway patrol for driving a horse-drawn sleigh on a cars-only road. Norma and Edna said they were en route to Harmony to participate in the town's tree-lighting ceremony. When the cop stepped away to call and verify their story, Edna and Norma made a fast getaway in their sleigh. After ditching their sleigh a mile out of town, they soon found themselves sliding through Tabitha's window. Too bad Tabby wasn't home! Edna told Norma not to hurt Tabitha until she'd gotten another makeover and then suggested Norma get one too. "What for?" Norma asked, "I'm already hot."

At the convent, Whitney was summoned to the Mother Superior's office. The Mother Superior praised Whitney's work at the convent, but said they must discuss her life outside the convent. She confronted Whitney about her motives for joining the convent. Whitney admitted she joined to escape her world because she found herself in love with half brother. The Mother Superior sent her back out into the world to say goodbye to her family (again!) and deal with her Chad issues. Whitney didn't want to see Chad or the baby, but Mother Superior wouldn't back down, so she set out for Harmony planning to take her vows in the beginning of the new year. Chad, meanwhile, took Miles to the tree lighting. He missed Whitney, who always loved the lighting, but said they'd start a father/son tradition. He told Miles Christmas was a time for miracles and hoped their prayers would be answered and Whitney would come home to them.

Spike persuaded Jessica to take some drug to get her "warmed up" before she started to work the streets again. Paloma, Roberto and Simone secretly observed Jessica from the sidelines, and wondered what they could do to get Jessica off the streets and keep her safe. Paloma came up with a plan, and sent Roberto out to pose as a would-be John. Roberto approached Spike and offered to hire Jessica to "entertain" at a bachelor party. Spike hesitated, and said Jessica wasn't the outgoing type who'd be good at a party. Roberto insisted he wanted the girl with Spike, but a high Jess blurted, "I know you." Spike got suspicious and pulled a knife on Roberto. After spotting Paloma and Simone, Jessica told Spike she was mistaken and would appear at Roberto's party after all. Roberto led her away and she was reunited with her pals.

At the Harmony holiday fair, James pointed to the mistletoe and asked what it is. Chris told James he'd show him, and pulled Sheridan into a passionate kiss. Meanwhile, Tabitha prepared to leave town and hide out in Paris before Norma and Edna showed up. Endora wanted to come with her mother, but Tabitha said Endora must stay safely behind with Kay. When a knock came at the door Tabitha feared the worst, but it was just Sheridan and Chris, who came to escort the witches to the town tree-lighting ceremony. Tabitha took a moment and experienced some pangs of regret at leaving her daughter behind. Meanwhile, Norma and Edna sped toward Harmony in their horse-drawn sleigh, singing Christmas songs with their own lyrics about dismembering poor ol' Tabby. Norma asked Edna to give her "daddy" a drink from the flask, as they reached the 20-mile marker from Harmony.

At the Bennett house, Sam, Ivy, Fox and Kay trimmed a Christmas tree and decorated the house. Ivy gritted her teeth as she watched Fox and Kay get close again. Kay wistfully reminisced about holidays during her childhood, and lamented to Fox that Grace isn't around to be a grandmother to Maria. Sheridan and her gang stopped by and invited the Bennetts to join them at the tree-lighting ceremony. Tabitha asked Kay to take care of Endora so she could make her escape. Tabby bid her daughter farewell and handed Endora to Kay.

At the Crane cabin, Gwen arrived with the Feds and police and they surrounded the cabin. Inside, Noah, Theresa and Fancy feared the worst. Fancy found herself on the same side with Theresa as they both insisted that they try to give the authorities the slip while still keeping Ethan alive. Noah called for a reality check, and explained there was no way they could sneak Ethan out of the cabin in his condition. Noah said it was too dangerous to resist the police, and their only option was to simply surrender. Theresa panicked and ran into Ethan's room, and she frantically tried to brainstorm a plan to escape. The FBI raided the cabin, retook possession of Ethan, and put Noah, Fancy and Theresa under arrest. Gwen was aghast at Noah and Fancy's participation in Theresa's scheme, and asked both of them why they betrayed her and Ethan's wishes. Gwen insisted upon riding in the ambulance with Ethan, while a screaming Theresa was hauled away to a squad car in handcuffs.

At the Crane Cabin, Noah begged Fancy not to give up on him and their relationship, but she wasn't very receptive. Theresa alerted them to the fact that the cops were still outside, but Noah said the only thing they could do was play it cool and wait. Outside, the second police officer reached Gwen on his radio. The officer asked Gwen to get Alistair's permission for them to search the cabin. Gwen verified the identities of Fancy and Noah, told the officer that if Fancy asked him to leave then he should and hung up on him. The cops left to go get a beer, even though one of them still clung to his suspicions. Then the power went out and the generator didn't kick in, which meant Ethan's respirator wasn't working. Theresa gave mouth-to-mouth as Noah and fancy got the generator up and running. Fancy saw Theresa's commitment to Ethan as obsessive, but Noah insisted he had the same kind of powerful love for her. She said it was too late for them. Theresa meanwhile got Ethan hooked back up. She admitted she'd ruined Christmas, but then saw the Christmas Star and her hope returned. She took his hand and prayed for his recovery, promising she'd give him up if god brought him back.

Back at the Crane Manse, the FBI agents dragged in the guy who sold Theresa the ambulance. He essentially described her accomplice as a hunk with a biblical name and Gwen figured it all out. She and the Feds set out for the Crane cabin. They arrived just after Theresa finished her prayer and as Fancy was about to forgive Noah (maybe). Theresa panicked.

Kay lamented to Tabitha that there ought to be a magical way to bring her and Fox back together, but Tabitha wasn't supportive. Sam, meanwhile, bemoaned the fact that his and Ivy's kids were scattered to the wind or on death's door and insisted they make at least two of them happy. He called Kay and invited her back to the house to help him and Ivy decorate for Christmas. When he told her that Fox was still there, she decided to return. Before she left, Kay observed — and reveled — in how violently Tabitha's "friends in the basement" reacted to the word Christmas and surmised that maybe the spirit of Christmas would be strong enough to reunite her with Fox. When she got to the house, the guys were out tree shopping and it was just Ivy. After she fantasized about strangling Kay, she played nice. She said Fox needed an unconditionally supportive partner and worried Kay would go back to Miguel if she had the chance. Kay said she understood now that he'd never loved her, but the boys returned before she could answer the question of whether she still loved him.

At the tree lot, Sam had given Fox a little relationship advice after Fox explained that Kay resented all the work he was doing to provide her and Maria with security. He feared they wouldn't get back together, but Sam insisted he not give up hope. When Fox said he'd realized making millions was more fun than spending it, the ever-understanding Sam said it was all about balance and taking advantage of every moment. Of course, when they returned to the house, Kay and Fox were as googley-eyed for each other as ever.

Tabitha and Endora tuned into the news, which warned Norma was on her way back with Edna and that the pair was "mad, bad and dangerous to know." Tabitha doubted they'd make it, but then fearfully flashed back to last year's holiday attack. She decided they'd head to Paris to be safe and Endora packed their bag.

Norma and Edna fretted over finding a way to Harmony. They happened upon a horse and sleigh. As they prepared to take off in it, the town Santa angrily approached and told them to get off his sleigh. "Santa" angered Norma by insisting there was no real Santa, so she punched him. When he went to call the cops, she grabbed his cell phone and bit it in half. Then she went on the attack and, with minimal help from Edna, changed clothes with him. Just as Edna feared they'd go straight to hell for beating up "Santa," his menacing elves showed up. The ladies jumped onto the sleigh and took off, with the elves following.

At the asylum, the guard stopped Norma and Edna before they could escape and ushered them back to the patients' talent show. Norma forced Edna to come up with an act to perform at the show to distract the guard. Edna began a striptease on stage that upset everyone. With the guard mesmerized in horror, Norma snatched his keys. Edna's striptease worked as too good of a distraction, as she faced a riotous mob of patients who had begged her to stop. After getting rescued from the mob, Norma and Edna made a beeline out of the asylum, and began their journey back to Harmony.

Tabitha feared retribution from her "friends in the basement" for trying to cast a good spell for Fox and Kay. When Tabitha's efforts failed Endora used her own magical powers to help enact the spell, which seemed to start to take hold, but then seemed to sputter out, to Tabitha's relief. Ivy tried to persuade Fox to give up on Kay and move on with his life. Ivy suggested that Kay may not be capable of commitment because of past betrayals in her life. Ivy paid lip service to wanting things to work out between Fox and Kay, but told Fox that it might take years for Kay to resolve her issues. When Ivy pressed a bit too much, Fox questioned if Ivy didn't want him to see Kay anymore, so Ivy backed off and covered. Meanwhile, Kay confided their relationship woes to Sam. Kay said all she does is screw up and cause Fox problems, so the only thing she feels she can do is break up with him to spare him further grief. Sam suggested that if the two of them really wanted the same things then they should be able to work through their problems, and encouraged his daughter to reconsider. Sam and Ivy then brought Fox and Kay face-to-face. Kay could see the love in Fox's eyes and felt confident that Tabitha's new spell was finally starting to work. As Fox and Kay began to apologize to each other Fox got a business call on his cell, that he decided to take. Kay got upset by his choice of work over her, and concluded that the spell wasn't working after all and left upset, to Fox's dismay. Sam asked Ivy to help him find a way to get their children reunited for Christmas.

At the Crane Cabin, Noah admonished Fancy for slapping Theresa. Fancy said Theresa deserved having someone beat the hell out of her for what she did to Ethan, and slapped her a second time. Theresa insisted what happened to Ethan was a terrible accident. Fancy admitted she couldn't give Ethan up so easily. Noah suggested he felt the same way about Fancy and their relationship, and urged Fancy to give him/them a second chance. Fancy took Noah to task for not trusting her, and said if he truly loved her he would have told her everything up front. Fancy said she can't be in a relationship with someone she can't trust and declared their relationship is over.

Outside the cabin, the one suspicious cop insisted something nefarious was going on inside the cabin. He radioed the Crane Mansion, and waited to speak to the only Crane available — Gwen Winthrop.
