PASSIONS Recaps Week of January 9, 2006Friday, January 13, 2006 Sheridan and Chris luxuriated in their bubble bath. Afterward they had to explain to James why they were in their bathrobes in the middle of the day. Sheridan resumed her online research on Otto. Chris reiterated his concern that Sheridan doesn’t set herself up for heartbreak by becoming too hopeful in her search. Rachel stopped by to help Sheridan. The two of them tried to hack into Crane Industries' computer network. They brainstormed possible passwords that Alistair might use.
Fox expressed his dismay and disbelief at Kay’s admissions. Fox said he can still loves Kay but doesn’t know if he can trust her any more. He accused her of being just like his own family. Kay said if she could do something now to change things she would, but she can’t. Fox said he needed some time and space to think about everything and stepped outside to get some fresh air. In desperation, Kay turned to Tabitha and asked her to turn back time to the moment just before Kay admitted what she had done to Fox. Tabitha lamented that her powers were still not up to par. With Tabitha’s reluctant approval Kay then turned to Endora for help. Endora zapped Fox and reset his memory by a few hours. Fox was disoriented but had no recollections of Kay’s mea culpa. Tabitha admonished Kay to keep her big yap shut in the future.
Thursday, January 12, 2006 In the Crane attic Noah remained spooked by the vision he saw of a man being shot when he opened the trunk that Fancy opened. Noah covered when Fancy asked him what he was so upset about. Elsewhere in the Crane mansion, Theresa eavesdropped on Gwen as she prepared to admit to Ethan her role in his paternity scandal in the tabloids. Rebecca confronted Theresa about her eavesdropping, and when Theresa refused to stop Rebecca attacked her. The noise of Rebecca and Theresa’s melee interrupted Gwen before she could offer her mea culpa to Ethan. Ethan broke up the fight. When Gwen began to tell Ethan the truth Rebecca interrupted and tried to cover and claimed that Gwen was withholding Rebecca’s “secret” desire to kill Sheridan. Rebecca’s ruse didn’t fool Ethan or Theresa, who goaded Gwen “to do the right thing for the first time in her life” and be honest with Ethan. Eve taunted Liz about what her “big secret” might be as Alistair regained consciousness. Alistair kept everyone in suspense as he threatened to expose everyone’s secrets to the world after he named his would-be assassin. Rachel stressed him out by informing him that Sheridan knows she is alive and now knows she is not responsible for her death. As Alistair finally prepared to identify his would-be murderer the police and paramedics burst into the mansion and interrupted him. The paramedics began working on Alistair while the police, with guns drawn, demanded answers. Rachel stepped forward and freely admitted her attempt on Alistair’s life, but lamented that she was not the one responsible for stabbing him. Alistair tried to speak his assailant’s name but was too weak. Sam gave Alistair pen and paper. Everyone watched with bated breath as Alistair scribbled a name onto the pad.
Wednesday, January 11, 2006 Using snowshoes Kay and Fox made their own way to Tabitha’s. When Fox stepped outside to use his cell phone Tabitha raced over to her bubbling bowl, but prevented Kay from looking. Tabitha informed Kay that the bowl showed a wedding with Fox and Kay, except that the wedding didn’t end happily. Kay insisted to see for herself and screamed when she looked at the outcome — just as Fox returned inside. Back at the Crane mansion, Alistair was about to whisper to everyone who his would-be murderer is when Rachel stabbed him in the heart with a syringe full of medicine. Alistair went into seizures and Fancy screamed. Sam confronted Rachel about her actions. Rachel again denied that she was the one who stabbed Alistair last night but said that after witnessing the pain he was causing everyone she felt compelled to try to kill him herself. Eve examined the vial of medicine Rachel used and identified it as something used by veterinarians to put animals to sleep. Rachel revealed that after she escaped Alistair’s seaside compound she woke up in a small town in Montana, where she was taken in and nursed to health by a veterinarian and his wife. She ended up becoming the vet’s assistant and learned how to euthanize animals. Eve whipped up an impromptu cocktail of medicines designed to try to counteract the effects of the animal medicine Rachel gave him. But Eve’s drug cocktail sent Alistair into cardiac arrest. With Fancy’s help Eve resuscitated Alistair, much to everyone’s dismay. Gwen’s anxiety grew when Sheridan commented that if Alistair was holding a secret over anyone’s head they would do well to come clean to about their secrets now before Alistair has the chance to do it for him. Gwen said to Rebecca that she must tell Ethan the truth. Ethan expressed his bitterness toward Alistair to Julian, telling Julian how hurt he was when Alistair turned his back on and disowned Ethan the second it was revealed that Ethan is not a Crane by blood. Ethan said he also still harbors anger and resentment to the person responsible for outing the truth via the tabloids. Julian asked if Ethan still felt Theresa was the responsible party. Ethan confessed to Julian that he doesn’t know what to think or who to believe anymore. Once she had Alistair stabilized Eve taunted Liz, asking her what Alistair has over her. Noah and Fancy went into the attic to get blankets for Alistair. As Fancy opened a trunk to get some blankets, Noah had a traumatic flashback to watching a man get shot in the back as he opened that same trunk. Sheridan and Chris made their way to the B&B. Sheridan was eager to begin her investigation on Otto. Chris privately hoped that Sheridan’s sleuthing doesn’t expose his secret in the process.
Tuesday, January 10, 2006 While with Sheridan, a nervous Chris had a flashback to his encounter with Alistair, who had threatened to expose his secret past to Sheridan and ruin both of their lives together. Chris lied to Sheridan when she asked him if Alistair had tried to threaten or taunt him. Pilar became enraged and assumed the worst when she found Martin sitting at Katherine’s bedside having a heart-to-heart with her. Martin ran after her. Pilar accused him of sneaking away to sleep with Katherine. Martin insisted that he responded to Katherine’s screams when she was having a nightmare, and reiterated his intention to renew his vows with Pilar. Pilar asked him if he really still planned to do that now that Alistair is no longer able to blackmail him and Katherine to stay apart. Martin insisted nothing has changed and he’ll stay with Pilar if she still wants him. Katherine and Rachel enjoyed a sisterly reunion. Rachel accused of Katherine of still loving Martin, but Katherine said it’s a moot point since he’s back with Pilar. Rachel said Katherine deserves to be back with Martin and encouraged her sister to pursue him. Theresa eavesdropped on Ethan and Gwen and took pleasure in Gwen’s apparent anxiety over there being evidence remaining somewhere in the mansion that implicates her and Rebecca in Ethan’s paternity scandal in the tabloids. Rachel joined many in the kitchen to rehash her backstory. She put everyone on edge when she said she’s been eavesdropping on Alistair’s conversations while living in the attic. Sheridan surmised that one of the conversations Rachel cited, between Alistair and his henchman Otto, must have been about Marty and Beth. Fancy kept a vigil at Alistair’s bedside and was excited when she witnessed him beginning to stir. Everyone nervously gathered around a semi-conscious Alistair to see if he would name his would-be murderer.
Monday, January 9, 2006 In the Crane attic, Rachel astonished everyone by revealing herself to be alive. Rachel reassured Sheridan that she did not kill her aunt as Sheridan once believed. When Pilar recalled Rachel’s corpse washing up at her home during the tsunami, Rachel said the body might have been wearing her jewelry but it wasn’t Rachel. Rachel and Katherine enjoyed a warm reunion as everyone looked on in pleasant disbelief. Rachel explained she’s been living in the attic since the fall. Rachel said she thought Katherine was dead and only decided to return to Harmony when she learned that Katherine was still alive. Rachel explained that Alistair told everyone she had died in a boating accident and kept her prisoner while he then married Katherine. When Rachel escaped she confronted Alistair and that was the night Sheridan thought she had stabbed Rachel to death. Rachel stayed “dead” until now. Katherine blurted out that she and Martin agreed to stop seeing each other to protect Sheridan when Alistair threatened to tell her she killed Rachel. Pilar quietly left the group, upset over the realization that her reconciliation is a sham. A police officer entered to give Sam the knife that was used to stab Alistair. The officer said that even though Sam is no longer chief of police, Alistair had left written instructions that Sam was to head any investigation regarding Alistair’s murder or attempted murder. The more Sam heard Rachel tell her story the more suspicious he became of her. Sam asked Rachel if the knife if hers. Rachel admitted the knife is hers and will have her fingerprints all over it, but denied stabbing Alistair. Gwen insisted to Theresa that no proof remains that Gwen and Rebecca were responsible for Ethan’s paternity scandal in the tabloids. Theresa asked why she is then ransacking the Crane mansion if she’s confident that Alistair doesn’t possess his own proof of her treachery. Theresa vowed to be a family with Ethan, and had a fantasy of her reunited with Ethan while Gwen was their slave chopping wood for their fireplace. Gwen became outraged at Theresa’s proclamation and tackled her. The two wrestled on the floor and made enough noise so that everyone in the attic heard them. Ethan left the attic to break up their fight. When Ethan broke up the fight Gwen lied and twisted everything around, accusing Theresa of all the things she had done. When Pilar arrived on the scene Ethan said he’s obviously believing his wife and he left in a huff with Gwen. Theresa realized that she now has Gwen on the run. A masked, unknown figure ransacked Alistair’s library, searching for something. Sheridan walked by the library and heard the sound of a vase smashing. When she entered to investigate, the masked figure ducked below some furniture to hide while Sheridan was shocked at seeing the library trashed. When Sheridan entered the room the masked figure rose and ran off. Chris joined Sheridan and was relieved to find out she’s okay. Meanwhile, a second masked unknown figure made his/her way into the room where Alistair was resting and tried to smother him with a pillow. Julian and Eve reflected on the night’s events in the kitchen. Eve left to check on Alistair and confronted Alistair’s assailant, who was standing there holding the pillow over Alistair. Eve struggled with the assailant and yelled for Julian. The assailant escaped before Julian arrived.
