Tabitha tried to stir up trouble by telling Miguel that his daughter kept calling Fox "Daddy," but Miguel understood it was because he hadn't been around for her. The guys were a bit worried about Kay and Siren alone in the kitchen, but the girls were just having a harmless face off. The mermaid accused Kay of being jealous, but Kay insisted she was just worried about Miguel. Then Siren tried to convince Kay that Fox was the one who was picking up on her earlier that morning, not vice versa. "You may sleep with all the men around here, but you don't control them," Siren shot before heading to the living room to pounce on Miguel. While she and Miguel made out, Fox told Kay he'd lost his model for Fancy's photo shoot. Kay tried unsuccessfully to find a replacement, but then realized hunky Miguel would be perfect. "Buy the perfume, get the guy," she said and talked him into it. When they got to the shoot (with Tabby and Endora in tow), Fox had his own surprise model — Siren! The client arrived and decided he wanted both together. Kay slouched off to sit with Tabitha, while Siren and Miguel gave the photographer what he needed. When Tabby commented on how sexy things were, Endora used magic to create romance (a rainbow) and turn the heat up. Kay asked her to stop, but to her chagrin, Endora just upped the ante with some golden, sparkling light.

Ethan wasn't surprised to learn Theresa had only rented one room and swore he'd find his own room, even if he had to change hotels. Theresa eventually admitted it was intentional, but said it was also because she was afraid of the threatening e-mail she's received.

Luis continued to insist Noah would never cheat on Fancy — until he spotted Noah making out with Maya at a nearby table. "Just last night the guy's telling me how much he loves you," he marveled. The faux couple was, as always, putting on a show for Lena, and Luis walked up in time to overhear Noah complaining, for the 800th time, "I just should've explained everything to her from the get-go." Luis pulled him aside and asked for that explanation. When Noah didn't offer an answer, he stormed off in disgust. Soon after, Ethan and Theresa showed up and filled Luis in on why they'd come to Rome. Hearing Jessica's name, Noah joined the convo and everyone got caught up on why everyone else was there. "I get the feeling that someone's brought us all to Rome for another reason," Luis considered, which raised the question of why — and who! Alistair was the obvious answer, but Luis noted he was in a coma. When Theresa shared her threatening e-mail with the group, Luis and Noah recognized the symbol. "Forget about coincidences," Luis surmised. "According to this, one of us is marked for death." Then Ethan saw the rest of the e-mail, about Theresa getting him, but losing her love and accused her of setting this all up. She again insisted she'd find JT Cornell to prove her story, only to learn Luis and Fancy had seen him that morning. That made Ethan suspicious, but Luis knew whatever was going on was "bigger than some crazy scheme of hers to get you back." Luis outlined how someone had used what they each want to get them there, and determined Fancy was the one in danger, because she was the only one without a reason to be there. Noah offered to protect her, but Fancy was disgusted, so Luis promised to be her bodyguard. The Monk watched as Luis told everyone to use the buddy system.

At work, Miguel noticed his coworker had a tattoo of a mermaid that looked like Siren. The older fisherman explained it couldn't be her, because the tattoo was over 40 years old and was of a real mermaid, not a person. Miguel had trouble believing that last part, so his pal told a story of the day he spotted her in the middle of the water. The then-young man saw her tail and got a kiss before she swam away, never to be found again. Later, when Miguel returned home with sea bass, a thrilled Siren tried to eat it right then and there. Earlier, Tabitha had made bacon and eggs for the mermaid and warned that if she didn't start acting human, Miguel would catch on to her mermaid-ness. When Miguel told them about the tattoo he'd seen, Tabby spit her coffee out. Then he told them about the fisherman's tale of the mermaid's curse, but he wasn't concerned, since mermaids don't exist. Kay interrupted the love fest by taking Miguel up to see his daughter, but when the friends got upstairs, Maria wasn't there. Before heading to the shower, he told Kay she better get used to Siren, because he liked her.

Left with Tabitha, Siren mused, "Two can play this little game, Kay Bennett. And you know, when it's mermaid versus human, mermaid wins every time." Fox came in with Maria and Siren turned on the charm. She used an egg-cracking lesson to get his arms around her — just in time for Kay to see. Kay just planted a kiss on him and sent him to check on the campaign shoot. When he walked out, the ladies got in each other's faces.

Theresa stressed about her "fortune cookie fortune from hell," but was relieved that it at least said she'd get Ethan. Then she took Ethan's shirt off. He was in a drug-induced sleep, so she got some kisses in before he jumped out from under her. He just rolled his eyes when she insisted that fate was finally bringing them back together. Theresa was even more committed to finding JT Cornell (who was in hiding at the hotel!) and proving "what kind of snake" Gwen is.

Luis finally got his hands on Beth. The cops grabbed her and he took Marty to the fountain, where he immediately called Sheridan. Too bad it was all a dream! He awoke and joined Fancy for breakfast. Unbeknownst to him, Beth watched as Fancy bitched about Noah. Luis still couldn't believe Fancy was right about Noah being a two-timer, insisting it must be a misunderstanding. They got a nice laugh when a waiter assumed they were married and said he could tell they were in love. Then it was back to talk of Sheridan and Noah. Luis empathized, taking her hand to comfort her. (Beth didn't like that!) Luis couldn’t be convinced that Noah had grown up to be a cheater, "drifter and grifter." When the waiter caught Beth taking pictures of the pair, he assumed she'd been attracted by the "young love." "So the little blond cookie from the cafe is after my man?" she fumed to herself. "There's something really dangerous going on in this city... so dangerous that someone here won't make it back to Harmony alive."

Once Noah got Simone, Jessica and Paloma safely back to the hotel, he again questioned why and how they ended up in Rome. He was slightly suspicious, but agreed not to call Sam about his sister since she was on the run from Spike. When the girls started asking him questions, he ushered them upstairs. The girls kept joking about being stuck in a horror movie, but Simone had gotten spooked, so he stayed with them until their meal came and then insisted they keep the door locked. Over dinner, the girl detectives reveled in the fun they were having, but things got serious when Jessica made a joke about the possibility that she was a serial murderer back in Harmony. "Spike can't hurt you here in Rome," Simone promise, but she was wrong — he was on the other side of the door!

Though she wasn't feeling up to it, a fancied-up Fancy joined Esme for dinner before the art opening. Esme insisted she needed a guy to distract her from Noah, promising that, "The men there, at these affairs, you know, are handsome and rich and straight."

Luis and Chad were a locked door away from Beth and Marty, so Luis kicked it in. He attacked, taking someone down, but it turned out to be a mannequin. Beth made her getaway and before Luis could follow, the cops arrived, with guns pulled. He tried to explain they were chasing Beth, a women with "crazy-looking eyes" and told them he was a cop, but they just took him and Chad down to lock up. Chad told Luis not to blame himself. "It's like Rome has bad mojo," he said. Apparently Luis had called Fancy, because she showed up and posted bail. Chad went straight to the catacombs, while Luis went back to chase Beth down. He again thought he had her, but this time it was actually Fancy he grabbed. She was there to offer her help, which made Luis say she had a lot of Sheridan in her. Touched, she gave him a kiss on the cheek. After they realized Fancy's opening was at the very same gallery, they started talking about their love lives. Luis couldn't imagine any guy letting her go, while Fancy assured him that Sheridan loved him more than Chris. Over dinner, Fancy told him she'd like to find someone to love her as deeply he loves Sheridan. Then she gave him a kiss on the cheek and went up to her room. Noah arrived as she left and the guys filled each other in on recent happenings. Before leaving, Luis asked Noah how he could "let an amazing woman like that get away."

The Monk kept at Whitney, making his usual threats and promises about Chad and her penance. "You must never see him again," he warned and when she agreed, Chad heard her. They had their usual argument through the wall. "Go find someone else to love," she insisted, swearing she loved him and Miles but had to trust the voice of God. "If I ever even lay eyes on you again, one of us has to die, and that person won't be you, Chad. It will be me," she cried before running away.

Back in Harmony, Tabitha's "horde of houseguests" disturbed her beauty sleep, so she started up the bowl, which showed Kay steaming over finding Siren in the bathroom in Miguel. Kay tried to rush them out, but to her horror, Miguel said, "Siren and I still have to do each other," and kicked her out. He meant they were going to put lotion on each other, but the duo started making out until Miguel stopped it. He had to get to work so he could save up money and get his own place. Siren offered to help — and to live with him.

Kay, meanwhile, joined Tabby and Endora in the kitchen and went on a pun-filled fishy tirade about Siren. Kay insisted Miguel wouldn't fall for Siren because, "he said he loves me." Tabitha responded that she should return his sentiment before it was too late, but Kay remained committed to Fox.

On the Crane jet, Theresa and Ethan worried about what awaited them in Rome, but Ethan said he'd turn the plane around if Theresa planned to argue "about our future together to Rome and back." Theresa took his attitude in stride, shrugging that he'd change his tune when the truth about his paternity reveal got out. She insisted this trip was "about family and friends," but while gullible Ethan called Gwen to tell her "that she has no reason in the world to worry about you making a play on me or anything like that," Theresa daydreamed about their love. Then she received strange messages via e-mail, with no return address and bearing the infamous symbol, but she didn't tell Ethan about it.

Noah again tried to tell Fancy "the whole story," but this time Lena showed up to interrupt. In order to hide from Lena, he kissed Fancy, which left Fancy smiling for half a minute. Of course, she was soon grumbling because he wouldn't tell her the story. Esme interrupted the argument by making fun of them, mimicking the fight they've been for months. Later, the lush found a teary Fancy and suggested she find a distraction, like Gigolo Gianni. Fancy wondered why Noah kept trying to protect her if he didn't love her, but agreed she needed another guy to distract her. Esme reached into her golden handbag for an invite to a "tres chic gallery opening." Of course, the invite had the symbol on it.

Simone, Paloma and Jessica were on the run with one of the mysterious paintings, having snagged it from their captors, but they didn't get far. They were soon back at gunpoint. The guys told them that they'd missed their chance at answers by running and directed them into the alley to be killed. Then Noah came to the rescue, with a "You're going to have to kill me first," and knocked the guys over. The girls joined in for a hearty fight scene and when the guys got away with the painting, Simone was left holding the piece of it that held the symbol. Noah quickly realized there was something significant about the symbol, but the girls made up some ridiculous story and called it a coincidence.

With Marty having overheard his name during Luis' usual "You'll-take-me-back-Sheridan" speech, Beth approached him and tapped him on the shoulder. Surprise! Recognizing her ex-beau just in time, Beth ducked behind a pillar and Luis turned to see Chad standing behind him instead. He left Sheridan with a promise that he and Chad would return to Harmony victorious. Beth kept Marty quiet just long enough to make her getaway, but then ran into people on the street. Luis heard Marty's giggle and "Daddy" and he and Chad went on the chase. Beth ran, using a symbol-baring key to pass through a symbol-baring door that lead to a museum. Luis spotted them from the street and Marty said, "Hi." Beth stayed a step ahead, but they didn't give up chase.

Meanwhile, Sheridan told Chris, "I just feel bad for Luis. He thinks we're going to get back together once he brings Marty home." Chris loved that almost as much as the fact that she hadn't told Luis she was having a rough pregnancy because it was their family business. Chris gave Sheridan an art book he'd bought her months before and of course, she stopped to "Wow" over a painting baring the symbol.

Chad ached at hearing "the innocent one is dead" and refused to believe the old nun. (Of course, he was right not to!) Nearby, a bloody but alive Whitney came to and asked The Monk why he hadn't killed her. The Monk referenced the story of Abraham, comparing her to Abraham's son who was spared by the hand of God. "But the sin is still on my soul," she bemoaned. The monk reminded her that her salvation and forgiveness could be found in resisting temptation and finding the chalice. The Monk asked her to pray for guidance and as she knelt, she heard Chad calling her. She ducked out of sight before he got to the chapel and then eavesdropped as he told the nun about his love for her. When the nun spied her, she didn't tell Chad. She warned Whitney to be careful whom she trusts. "All is not as it appears," she insisted, but she didn't get to explain. Poor Whit was again left to The Monk and his tasks.

After much squabbling with Gwen and Ethan about whether Ethan should go to Rome to help his sister, Theresa stormed out. She couldn't believe he could stay away, especially after she received a photo of the Jessica and the girls blindfolded and in trouble. "I hope you can live with yourself if something terrible happens to Jessica," she fumed, but after she left, a concerned Ethan checked out her story. Once he and Gwen knew Theresa was telling the truth, it was agreed that he had to go. Ethan swore he loved Gwen and promised to behave, but Gwen begged, "If you decide to sleep with her...If you leave me for her, then you need to let me know first." He begrudgingly promised before heading to the Crane jet. Theresa was over the moon when he arrived.

The men holding Paloma, Jessica and Simone at gunpoint opened fire and the girls dropped, appearing dead. They weren't. It turned out the men were shooting at and killing burglars who'd been hiding behind the door. The guys carried the bodies away, leaving the girls to discuss a painting with the symbol on it and their plan of attack. When the guys returned, one of them reminded, "If they get too smart and figure out the secret behind the painting, they'll all have to die." Simone, meanwhile, had a new idea and the girls put it into action: Jessica asked the guys to look at her tattoo again and while the guys stared, Paloma grabbed the painting. Then they hit the guys over the head and ran.

Beth and Fancy continued to bond over their men. Though Fancy had given up on Noah, Beth remained committed to her "husband" — aka Luis. Both guys were about to catch them chatting, but lucky for Beth, Luis was distracted by a call from Sheridan. While he took the call and Beth took Marty to the restroom, Noah tried to make nice with Fancy. When he asked about her new friend, she shot, "We're both involved with men who cheat and lie," and went outside to check on Luis. She got on the phone and told Sheridan about Luis' heroism — not to mention the kiss he'd laid on her (thinking she was Sheridan). "From that kiss he gave me, he still loves you a lot," she told her aunt, who was clearly jealous to hear of it. While Luis finished the call, Fancy got their coffees and said goodbye to Beth. Then she and Luis talked relationships over coffee and just as he said, "I know as soon as I find Marty, all our problems will be over," Beth and his son appeared behind him. After Fancy ran off, with Noah following, Luis called Sheridan back, explaining he, "Just needed to hear your voice again." She insisted she wouldn't come back to him no matter what. When he said Marty's name, Beth and Marty heard. They walked up behind Luis.
