PASSIONS Recaps Week of August 21, 2006

Friday, August 25, 2006
Luis was still keyed up over the robbery and, more importantly, his mother's shooting, when he joined Trainee Crane and Chief Bennett at the station in the morning. "You can't use your position on the force to play vigilante," Sam warned and Luis said he was just venting. When Fancy excused herself to get to class, Luis stopped her and accused her of writing his report on the night before. She didn't deny it and Sam noted it was a good report. Luis begrudgingly thanked her, but insisted she get his permission next time. When she left, Sam got a quick laugh over them, but Luis quickly turned the conversation back to the case. He told Sam he didn't believe the alibi Chris provided for Spike, but Sam wasn't sure Luis' gut feeling wasn't actually a touch of jealousy. When they talked about what a good job the girls did in rescuing Jessica, Luis commended Fancy but wondered if she could or should make the sacrifices a cop has to make. The guys wondered if having a healthy relationship was possible for cops. An eavesdropping Fancy was ready to show Luis it was. She interrupted with the ballistics report on his mother's shooting. Pilar's bullet matched not only Chris', but also one used in a nightclub shooting.

A sleeping Ethan jumped awake when he saw Theresa underneath him instead of Gwen. Once he shook it off, he told Gwen he'd proven his feelings for Theresa were of no concern when he sided with Julian about Little E. Gwen was (rightly) worried. Ethan later visited Pilar and, with her breath labored, she reminded him that she was like a second mother to him. She then insisted, "Leave Gwen. You belong with Little Ethan and Jane and Theresa. They're your family." She slipped and told him Little E. was his son, but backtracked and covered up. When he said everyone was moving on, she got agitated. He calmed her and promised to think about what she's said. "You know in your heart that I'm right," she said before he left.

Jared walked into Theresa's office just as she was pushing her weight around with the hospital. When she hung up the phone she got straight to business, offering Jared the exec position for which he'd had that awful interview. He was hesitant, but she said he was more than qualified and wowed him with her new hire package. She was impressed that he had an MBA and law degree. He asked for a review and increase in stock options in six month's time. When he went to sign the forms, he noticed Ethan's name on a document and asked, "Are you trying to get me to fill Ethan's spot here in the workplace and out in the real world?" She promised he was not an "Ethan knockoff," swore she was past Ethan and the madness their love created and reminded him that people were not interchangeable. She was glad he'd communicated with her instead of assuming she was playing him again. After the phone rang, she handed him a file and said to take a minute to review it before helping her close the deal. When the call came through, Theresa stumbled a bit. Jared jumped in and though it looked like he wasn't helping, he sealed the deal. Ethan arrived just in time to catch their celebratory kiss and walked out without saying anything. When Jared took off to make a trip to legal, Ethan returned, only to hear Theresa rave about Jared, both professionally and personally. "I think I'm starting to fall for him Whitney, big time," she confessed.

Chris and Sheridan cuddled in bed and rehashed the previous night's events. When Chris started smooching, she pushed him away to say how "safe and sound:" she felt with him. Then they had breakfast, where Chris marveled over both his wife's tango skills and the palpable chemistry Fancy and Luis had had on the dance floor. Sheridan then told Chris she wanted to get a job at Crane, hopefully replacing Fancy in fashion design. "Fashion's in my blood," she glowed and Chris felt it was "too perfect." He then added that he was thinking about returning to the workforce. He promised he'd "fly right" as an accountant and then Sheridan suggested he also get a job at Crane. Chris wanted to keep his independence, which blew Sheridan away. She was glowing with respect, while a watching Spike was rolling his eyes. He sent a text message, calling Chris to the bookcases while Sheridan caught up with newly arrived Gwen. Gwen confided that she was worried Ethan wouldn't be able to let Theresa go. Sheridan reminded her that he chose her and Gwen said she just didn't know if that was a sign of his love or his obligation to her. Sheridan suggested she give Ethan a chance to adjust to Theresa's new beau. She also bragged that Chris didn't want to use her for her money and that she could trust him. Of course, he was off talking to Spike. "Our partnership isn't over yet," Spike said. He wanted Chris to take that accounting job at Crane so that he could embezzle money... or else he'll tell Sheridan about "Chicago."

Luis pushed a cuffed Spike to give up his accomplice, but Spike said there was no accomplice and no proof that he was even involved in the Crane robbery or Pilar's shooting. When Luis caught Spike eyeing a trunk, he investigated. Unfortunately, he didn't find a thing, so Spike ordered him to take off the cuffs. Luis was not swayed, since Jessica hadn't backed up Spike's alibi. Spike countered that Chris was actually his alibi and Chris of course backed him up. Luis was suspicious, but law-abiding trainee Fancy took the keys and let Spike go. "I'm going to be watching you," Luis warned, promising to prove Spike's guilt. When he brought up all the dead johns, insinuating that Spike was responsible, that worked well toward keeping Jessica in line, since she believed she was the guilty one there. The group dispersed, leaving Spike alone with Jessica. His wife asked how he'd known about her attempted rape and the fact that Fancy had saved her — especially if he was at the fair. When he said Chris told him, she asked why he would go thank Fancy before checking on her. She eventually bought his stupid explanation and after he mentioned those dead johns, went to get him a beer. Alone, he dug through the trunk and found "fresh green money." When Jess returned, she was all in knots over getting caught. He told her to relax and promised he'd protect her.

Luis walked Fancy home and bitched about having to let Spike go. Then he checked that all of Fancy's windows were closed and told her to get some sleep. She was worried about him, so they kept talking. Luis admitted he was getting "a bad vibe" from Chris, which Fancy didn't support. Then poor stressed out Luis started rubbing his neck, so Fancy grabbed two towels and said, "Strip. Then follow me." The reconvened in the sauna and she gave him a steamy massage, which led to some hot kissing. Over at the cottage, Chris tried to play his nerves off as concern for Pilar. Sheridan, who bought it, pointed out that he didn't have the codes, which meant it wasn't his fault. Chris turned the conversation to the chemistry Luis and Fancy showed on the dance floor. "Luis might not have got his man, but he certainly got his woman," he mused.

Jared offered to walk Theresa home from the hospital and she agreed, since Pilar was sleeping. They joked about how big and audacious Crane's "monument to money" is and she explained that she makes sure to give Little E perspective by spending time at her mother's. Jared was impressed. "I thought you were a liar and a schemer. And I realize that all this was for your home, your family, and a little boy. You did it all by just keeping it real," he marveled and then they got into some kissing. Until drunken Julian interrupted. "Why don't you get a room, Theresa? There's a young child in the house," he said as he stumbled in. (Uh, remember Rebecca, Julian?) Julian then told Theresa that he had a list for Crane security of items stolen during the robbery. When he said, "there are some very sensitive files that are missing and I want them back before the police get their hands on them," Theresa pulled rank on him and asked if he was doing business behind her back. He told her the files were from before she took control, but she wanted that kind of info to run damage control. Then Julian informed her that he was spending the day with Little E. "I forbid it," Theresa announced and he cried, "I will not be denied, tonight, tomorrow, or any bloody other time I want to see my son. If you continue to refuse me, I will see that you lose Little Ethan altogether." Theresa was sure his desire to see Little E was the brandy talking, but looked nervous.

When Ethan and Gwen left the hospital, Pilar was the last thing on their minds. They were fighting over Theresa (for a change. Not.) "You need to either get help, get over Theresa, or we need to get a divorce," Gwen insisted, wanting her answer now. Unfortunately, Ethan just stared at her, so after an anti-Theresa tirade, Gwen turned to storm off. Ethan stopped her and reminded her that he made his decision years ago. He swore his only connection to Theresa was Jane, but Gwen insisted there was more to it and that she was over battling for him. When the phone rang, she was sure it was Theresa. It was actually Julian calling him to the manse about Little E. When he and Gwen got to the manse, they found Julian and Theresa going at it. Theresa insisted Julian couldn't hang with Little E as long as he was off the wagon, especially in a busy city. Julian swore he would never drink while he was with Little E and Gwen was pleased as punch when Ethan sided with Julian. When she said he had "no rights," Ethan went so far as to say no court would let her keep Little E from Julian. (They might if they knew Ethan was the real poppa!) Theresa swore she'd use the Mrs. Crane card if she had to and stormed off. Jared registered what she said before following. "When it comes to my son, all bets are of," Theresa explained once they were outside. She'd crush anyone — even Ethan! Back inside, Ethan and Gwen both recognized something in her confidence. "It's as if Theresa knows something that she's not telling the rest of us," Ethan explained to Julian.

Spike and Chris danced around the truth, trying to convince Sheridan that Spike was on the grounds to thank Fancy for saving Jessica — as apposed to robbing the manse and shooting Pilar! When she remained suspicious, Chris turned it on her and she apologized for jumping to conclusions. "You have been completely honest with me," she cooed to him, but she wasn't ready to trust Spike. When she pushed him, he dashed and Chris gave him time to get away by pretending his cell phone wasn't working. At the scene of the shooting, meanwhile, Luis filled Fancy in, noting the intruder must have known the alarm codes. Fancy pushed Luis to go to his mother's side and let other officers handle the case, but he of course wanted to be involved and Recruit Crane was by his side when he was called to chase after Spike. Unfortunately, Spike "disappeared," presumably through one of Alistair's old escape routes. Luis decided that Spike shot both his mother and Chris. With Chris, Sheridan and Fancy in tow, he raced to find Spike at home with Jessica. Luis attacked Spike, but Fancy soon cooled him down, insisting he not let his temper hurt the investigation. Spike again said he'd been on the grounds to thank Fancy, but he couldn't come up with an alibi for the time of the shooting — so he made one up, saying Jessica had seen him at the fair. Jess stuttered over backing him up and was surprised to hear that Spike knew she'd been attacked. Then she didn't back him up! Luis cuffed him and offered better treatment if he said who helped him get into the manse. Would he tell?

With Theresa and friends watching, doctors tried to shock Pilar back to life. Whitney ushered the group out of the room to wait with the rest of the family (minus Luis) and friends until Dr. Eve succeeded. There was much action among the group: Fox was not pleased with the attention Kay was paying Miguel, while Siren gloated over having him under her curse. The mermaid then turned her attention on getting Miguel to bed, but he didn't want to leave his mom's side. When Pilar woke up, she actually asked for him first. She took Miguel's hand and asked him for a promise. "You, Kay and Maria, you have to be a family," she said before a coughing fit kicked in. Julian meanwhile told Fox that if he wanted Kay, he should "take a page out of Alistair's book if you have to" and keep his anger in check. Eve, who had been giving Julian the cold shoulder, wondered if the "new, improved Julian" was really just an act. She seemed to be on to something.

Gwen and Ethan were, as usual, concerned with Theresa and Jared and whether Ethan could let go of Theresa. "I'm not blind, but I'm sick and tired of this," Gwen told him. Then she announced she was "done." Alas, it was just a trick — she wanted to know if Ethan's "heart didn't leap" hearing it. "I want you to be a man and make up you mind," she shot. Theresa, for her part, was appreciative of Jared. He held her hand and told her he'd be there, "as long as you need me." Then he left and Whitney joined her. She reminded Theresa, "There was a time when you would have used your mother's condition as a way to get close to Ethan." Then Jared returned and they kissed, which only steeped up that heated discussion Gwen and Ethan were having.

Walking with Tabitha at the fairgrounds, Kay was aghast at the complexity of the spell to break the mermaid's curse. They ran into Fox, who told Kay he's tired of the back-and-forth and said if she'd rather be with Miguel then she should just say so. A cop approached them and broke the news that Pilar was shot. Fox and Kay split up to find and notify Miguel. Kay saw through Tabitha's magic spell book that Miguel is in bed with Siren and ran off after him.

At another part of the fair, Luis and Fancy danced the tango as a crowd of onlookers watched in admiration as they gazed into each other's eyes. Watching from the sidelines, Sheridan told Chris she wanted to go home. Remembering that Spike was planning to rob the Crane Mansion, Chris encouraged Sheridan to remain at the fair a little while longer. Sheridan insisted she wants to go home. Another cop found Sheridan and told her about Pilar, while Luis and Fancy finished their tango. Luis sensed something was wrong and rushed over. Sheridan broke the news to him that Pilar was shot. Luis saw Chris talking to someone (Spike) on the cell phone and approached him, demanding to know who he was speaking with. Chris took exception to Luis' questions and said it was a telemarketer.

In bed with him, Siren was asking Miguel to make love to her. Kay found them and demanded that Miguel get out of bed, but Miguel was deaf to her commands. Siren told Kay that Miguel is totally under her Siren's spell and doesn't even know Kay is in the room. Kay tried to pry Miguel off of Siren but to no avail. When Kay whispered into Miguel's ear that she loves him Miguel stopped making his moves on Siren and seemingly broke out of her spell. Fox arrived to take Miguel to the hospital to see his mother.

The police informed Theresa and Jared that Pilar was found shot dead in the Crane Mansion. Theresa broke down and said she just talked to her mom on the phone. Jared asked the cop to confirm Pilar's status. The EMTs examined Pilar and realized she was alive — just barely. The cop relayed the good news to Theresa, who ran off in search of her family.

After winning a prize for Whitney at one of the fair games, Chad and Whitney ran into Ethan and Gwen. Ethan was unhappy when he learned that Gwen, Chad and Whitney conspired to get Theresa together with Jared. Ethan asked to speak to his wife in private. He reprimanded Gwen for her actions. Gwen said she'd do whatever was necessary to protect her marriage. Ethan said it's not right to play games with Theresa's life. Gwen said what she's done paled in comparison to all the things Theresa has done over the years. Theresa ran up to them and hugged Ethan. Theresa told them what happened to Pilar. Ethan was enraged when Gwen told him it was inappropriate for him to go to the hospital to look after Pilar. When Ethan insisted on going to the hospital, Gwen privately resolved to leave Ethan if he doesn't stop pining after Theresa. Chad and Whitney returned to his place, where he surprised her with a candlelit dinner. The two of them reveled in their love for each other and how well their lives have turned out. After dinner the two made love. Afterwards Chad felt guilty as he flashed back to conversations with an unknown lover, in which he told the person he's still be able to see them despite marrying Whitney. After Whitney fell asleep, Chad called the person and told them he couldn't stop thinking of them and made plans to meet at their usual hotel.

At the hospital, the doctor told Theresa that Pilar is stable but remains extremely critical. Theresa told Luis about their mother's condition on the phone while he was at the Crane Mansion investigating the shooting. Luis vowed to find their mother's shooter. Fancy asked him if he was sure he wanted to lead this investigation considering how close he is to the case. Fancy insisted on helping him. Spike met with Chris on the grounds. Chris punched out Spike for going too far and shooting Pilar. Chris warned that Luis is going to hunt him down and make him pay. Sheridan walked up and asked Chris what he was doing talking to Spike. Back at the hospital Theresa kept vigil at Pilar's bedside. As Ethan joined her over Gwen's protests, Pilar flatlined.

Siren fell into the dunk tank at the fair. Kay gloated that Siren was a mermaid, but Siren escaped before Fox and Miguel clearly saw her tail. An angry Siren vowed to seduce Miguel that night. Fox urged Kay to get over her obsession with Siren, but Miguel admitted that he did see something when Siren fell into the tank. Endora retrieved Tabitha's spell book, and Kay planned to break Siren's hold on Fox. Siren sang her song, hoping to bed Miguel.

Eve rushed to help TC when he had trouble walking. TC sent her away, informing his ex that he didn't want to be her charity case. Meanwhile, Julian hit the bottle. Julian warned Fox that it was foolish to leave Kay alone with Miguel and urged his son to marry Kay as soon as possible. "If you want something, you take it, no matter who you have to step on to get it," Julian advised and announced that he was through being a doormat. Eve overheard and wondered if the old Julian might be alive and well (That would be wonderful!).

Jared apologized to Theresa for misjudging her. They decided to take a walk together. Jared explained that while he believed Theresa was a good person, he could never be serious with a woman who had so much money and power. Theresa recalled growing up poor and told Jared she was grateful that she could finally give back to her mother. She didn't believe that money should be an obstacle to their relationship. A police officer broke the news to Theresa that her home had been burglarized and Pilar was shot and killed.

Fancy beamed to Luis that she couldn't wait to be a cop. Fancy encouraged Luis to enter a Latin dance contest to benefit the library. Luis was partnered with Sheridan. Sheridan and Luis danced a steamy tango as Fancy and Chris watched apprehensively. Luis and Sheridan took first prize. Fancy realized that Luis still loved Sheridan. Luis gave Fancy an impromptu dance lesson as a distraught Sheridan looked on.
