PASSIONS Recaps Week of April 16, 2007Friday, April 20, 2007 As Whitney tended to Miles, she had back pain from her accident and took some pills. As she read Miles a fairy tale, someone watched her through an open window. Whitney dozed off from her medication but woke up moments later when she thought she heard someone outside. Whitney checked but saw nothing but tree branches blowing in the wind outside the window. Whitney put Miles to bed then put on the news to get information on Luis and Miguel's trial. She was horrified when she heard the verdict on the radio. When Chad returned Whitney asked him where he'd been. Chad said he was coming from work. Whitney informed Chad of Luis and Miguel's guilty verdicts and said she needed to visit Theresa and her family. Chad refused, saying Whitney was not to leave their house. He claimed it was late and there was nothing they could for Theresa tonight. Chad then got a frantic distress call on his phone from Valerie. "Who's calling you at THIS hour?" Whitney asked Chad. Tabitha tried to persuade Endora to go to a witch school rather than a "mortal" pre-school. Tabitha cast a spell to mess with the women from the pre-school and then erased their memories and invited them back for another interview. The women had a strange sense of déjà vu upon entering Tabitha's house, but Tabitha assured them this was the first time they had visited. Tabitha invited them to sit down and conjured up some refreshments for them. The women became ill when Tabitha offered them some strawberries, but reluctantly tried them. This time the women loved them. Tabitha then offered the women Martimmies. Tabitha quickly got the women drunk. They easily accepted Endora into the pre-school, but on one condition — that Tabitha bring a pitcher of Martimmies to their first parent-teacher conference. The women then passed out and Tabitha and Endora rejoiced at her acceptance into pre-school.
Pilar lamented how everything she has loved has been taken away from her: her husband, Antonio, Luis and Miguel. Theresa and Ethan did their best to console her. "What have we done to be punished this way?!" Pilar asked rhetorically. Pilar got angry at herself for being "pathetic" and giving in and giving up on her faith. Paloma returned and she and Theresa comforted their mother. Ethan said it's more important to discover who's been behind all the manipulations and blackmail than it is to appeal Luis and Miguel's case because their appeal might be blocked, considering even the governor is likely corrupt. Theresa recapped Luis and Miguel's trial for Paloma. Ethan asked God to help him help Theresa's family, and asked God to help him get back together with Theresa. Ethan apologized to Theresa for not being able to do more. Theresa apologized, saying she is to blame for everything that's happened. She said she feels like she's being punished for every sin she's committed since birth. Ethan consoled Theresa and reassured her that they would fix everything, and they began to kiss and make out passionately.
Thursday, April 19, 2007 The bailiff brought Miguel to see Kay and Maria and Migs tried to prepare himself for a life in prison, but Kay refused to give up hope. He was sad to see his daughter there, but Kay demanded he stay positive. "This isn't over yet," she promised. As the family hugged, Julian ordered a frustrated Fox to stand down and let them say goodbye. "I have sat by and watched that guy fondle my wife all day long," Fox grumbled, adding that he was more of a father to Maria than Miguel was. "Because of your false testimony, Miguel is going to the big house for the rest of his life without hope of parole." Julian noted. "My father would be so proud." Following Julian's directive, Fox tried to break up the family reunion respectfully and hide his jealousy. He wanted to appear sympathetic, but Miguel wasn't buying it. Having been left by Chris, Sheridan continued to feel sorry for herself — until she heard of the sentencing and went straight to the courthouse. She arrived as Fancy was demanding Luis admit she was the reason for his sentencing. Luis didn't agree verbally, but he was cold with Sheridan, snarling at her and giving her the brush off. The girls argued about fault while he scowled, until he finally shot, "Every word you said was a nail in my coffin." Sheridan responded by professing her love, which just made him angrier. She started crying and revealed she'd lost Chris. That didn’t matter to Luis, who said, "I don't want to hurt you. But I don't love you anymore." Fancy was touched that he'd chosen her, even now that Sheridan was available, but Sheridan couldn't believe it. When the bailiff said it was time for Luis and Miguel to go, everyone said tearful goodbyes, but Sheridan swore, "I will not lose Luis, no matter what — or who — stands in my way." Blissfully unaware of everything, Paloma and Noah made out in front of the fire at Crane manse. She continued to try to stop it, since she was on duty and they were in a public room at her sister's, but Noah's flirtations and double entendres were just too tempting. After a romp, the naked pair sipped bubbly from the Crane supply, until Paloma spotted a family picture. She felt guilty, so they tuned into the news to check on her brothers and reality crashed in on them. "My whole family’s being turned apart," Paloma cried, begging for God's help. It sounded like Vincent was giving Valerie quite a beating, so Chad busted into the house. He comforted a distraught Valerie and then ordered Vincent out of his hiding place in the bathroom. Apparently, Vincent escaped and a frightened Valerie begged Chad to stay with her. She was thankful he'd shown up before Vincent could kill her. "I don't get how the person who hit me is the same person who was so tender," she marveled, relieved that she'd learned the truth. Chad swore he'd never let Vincent hurt her again and then asked if she knew who the affair was with. "Probably some slutty skank," she shrugged. "Whoever it is, she is as sick as Vincent is!" Then she said she wanted to call the police, but Chad knew Vincent would reveal the truth if he was arrested.
Wednesday, April 18, 2007 Paloma flipped her mystery attacker to the ground and cuffed him, but it turned out to be Noah, whose car wouldn't star. They bickered a bit and then she knocked him down again, but this time for a kiss. When it started raining, she jumped up and again pulled the professional card, so the giggling duo set out to find jumper cables for the stalled car. Of course, once they got inside, they had to get out of their soaking wet clothes and "help" each other dry off. Valerie had trouble accepting Vincent was the "two-faced, two-timing pig" Whitney insisted he was, but the (semi)truth that he was seeing another woman soon sunk in. "Whitney, you are so lucky you're married to a man like Chad," she sighed and then angrily decided to call Vincent. Chad, fearing the outcome of this showdown with his boyfriend, tried to stall her. He said it would "get ugly" if she didn't take time to think it through, so Valerie decided to go home. "I am going to confront Vincent and make him tell me who that tramp is he's sleeping with and let her have it, too," she said, to which supportive Whitney promised, "When you find that skank, you call me, because I'll go over there with you, ok?" After Val rushed out, Chad made work excuses to follow. When he caught up, he found Valerie and Vincent at home and screaming at each other. Vincent quickly turned violent and Chad worried he would kill Valerie. He started banging on the door and screaming for Vincent to open up. Judge Reilly called back the stunned group at the courthouse for Luis and Miguel's immediate sentencing. Ethan wasn't optimistic, but he set his paralegals to the task of beating Reilly to the punch. There was much worrying and blame placing as folks settled in, but Julian quietly basked in the success of the blackmailer's work. Fox gave Julian pause when he worried this was just the beginning. "If Luis and Miguel were just the beginning, who's next, huh?" Julian wondered. The judge called them to order just as Ethan got a text from his office. There were similar cases where "the judge was stopped by the defense appealing to the governor." Theresa bubbled with hope, but the judge just laughed at them. "The governor has sided with me. I have written authorization to proceed with the sentencing," he explained, shutting Ethan down. He sentenced Miguel to "life in prison without possibility of parole," and then told Luis, "You will be sentenced to death by lethal injection, and the execution will happen as quickly as possible." Sheridan was crushed by the news that her guys, Chris and little James, were leaving her. She tried to explain away what she said on the stand about loving Luis, noting she loved him because they shared the loss of a child. Chris noted they had their own dead child, but that hadn't bonded them at all. "This deck was stacked against me from the start," he said, and wouldn't be swayed from his decision. She kept trying until she got a call and someone filled her in on the happenings at the courthouse. Her conversation witch Chris completely forgotten, she tuned into the news. Chris walked away as she repeated Luis' name to herself. Then he and James said their goodbyes and left Sheridan. "I've lost everything — Luis, Marty, my baby with Chris, Chris himself, James," she cried. "All I ever wanted was love."

Monday, April 16, 2007 Valerie asked Whitney why she wanted to talk to her, while just outside, Chad had a flashback to Vincent's warning and resolved to stop them ASAP. Between his stall tactics and Val's guessing games (she was relieved her job wasn't the problem), it took Whitney a while to get to her point. Val even wished Vincent were there, explaining, "He's always so supportive. I'd feel better if he was here so I could lean on him." Then she realized the bad news was about her number one supporter and got worried. Chad pulled Whitney aside and told her to butt out of Valerie's business. Whitney demanded an explanation, insisting Vincent's piece on the side might give Valerie a disease, in addition to a broken heart. Val eventually overhead their argument and pressed them. "Vincent's been cheating on you," Whitney finally revealed, which made Chad worry Vincent would try to kill them. The courtroom erupted when the jury foreman announced that the jury found both Miguel and Luis guilty as charged. Theresa consoled Pilar — "Not my sons," she whispered — while Grace Nancier relished her legal victory. A dejected Ethan apologized to Theresa and Pilar for the outcome. Theresa blamed herself for what happened. "My stupidity and selfishness just cost my brothers their lives." She ran to the judge and tried to accost him, but was restrained by the bailiff as she went on a tirade. The judge whispered to her that all of her power and money didn't stop her from being blackmailed, and told her he had been blackmailed himself. Ethan warned Theresa not to lose control. The judge called the courtroom to order and confirmed Luis and Miguel's verdict. Fancy then took her turn to make an outburst. The judge ordered Miguel and Luis be taken into custody and adjourned the courtroom as Pilar, Kay and Fancy all became ferklempt. Ivy tried to convince Fancy that she wasn't responsible, but then Sheridan came out and pointed the finger at her. Then Ethan called everyone together and promised, "It's not over and I'm not going to stop working on this." He was confident the "irregularities" would ensure two new trials and the disbarment of Reilly and Nancier. Then he got everyone in to see Miguel and Luis. Ivy snidely pointed out to Fox how quickly Kay ran to see Miguel, but Julian simply sent his son in after the group. Everyone worked to remain positive about Ethan's appeal, but Luis wasn't interested in Sheridan's support and sent her away. Ethan told Sheridan that Chris heard her whole testimony and sent her after her husband. Then he again noted that the typical delay in sentencing would buy them some time. Unfortunately, after guilt almost got the better of Reilly, the blackmailer popped up (on his computer), warning, "My reign of terror is just beginning." He used "Marrakech" to force Reilly to "do his bidding," so Reilly called "the condemned and their hangers-on back in the courtroom" for sentencing. "You can't deny them due process," Ethan corrected, but Reilly wasn't interested in the rules. Chris had a flashback to Sheridan raging about Luis and her obsession of him. He thought back to all of his interaction with Sheridan which showed that Luis was the only man she'd ever cared about. "It's been clear from the start," Chris sighed and then began to feel guilty for the false pretenses under which he met Sheridan. He resolved to use his ill-gotten money to give James a good life, since he'd lost Sheridan. Just then James came home and saw Chris' packed suitcases. Chris told James the two of them were going on an adventure to an exotic place ASAP. James was upset when he learned that Sheridan wouldn't be joining them on their big adventure. Chris spun their trip as a "father/son" adventure, but conceded that Sheridan wouldn't be joining them any time soon because she is too busy. He convinced the kid nothing was afoot, promising, "Mommy's love for you is totally awesome." When Sheridan returned, they discussed the trial and she asked him to tell her "everything is going to be alright." Then she saw the suitcases and before he could explain, James came out. She understood immediately.
