Nikki offered her sympathies to Mac, who was eating with Katherine and Esther at the GCAC. Nikki advised Mac not to give J.T., who was sitting at another table with Brittany, so much power. She then joined Sharon, who was journaling. She tried to get Sharon to help her plan a gala, but Sharon wanted no part of that, so she left. Meanwhile, Brittany told J.T. she didn't care what people said about her as long as her baby was safe. J.T., his eyes on Mac, wanted to leave her there, but they saw Vinny sitting at the bar, watching them. Mac came over and confronted them, then left. Nikki noticed Vinny watching the kids, and asked if he was a member there. He told her his name and then exited. J.T. took off also.

J.T. pounded on Bobby's door. He demanded to know when this whole situation was going to end. Bobby told him to back off and give him more time. J.T. departed, and later Vinny showed up and said he saw J.T. and Britt at the bar and that Marsino needed to do something about that.

At Newman, Victoria offered Brad a job. He wanted autonomy, which she could offer, but he was reluctant to commit because he didn't know if things would change when Nick returned. However, he decided to accept anyway. Vicky told him he had Sharon to thank for the job. Sharon showed up then and was glad he accepted. Victoria looked back into the room, just as Sharon and Brad embraced.

Nick, Phyllis and Neil headed to the beach, where Daniel and Lily were sharing a tender good-bye. The adults went into the cafe, while Daniel convinced Lily to use the cafe phone to turn herself in. He hid behind a dune, and watched as Neil spotted Lily. Nick and Phyllis hurried out of the cafe a few moments later, and Nick saw Daniel. Phyllis screamed at her son to run. Daniel took off down the beach, with Nick hot on his heels. Nick closed in on Daniel, but Phyllis threw herself between them before Nick could hit her son.

Lily and Daniel were horrified to find the convienence store clerk lying in a pool of blood. As Lily freaked out, Daniel checked for sign of life ("I'm not getting a pulse!" Daniel declared and suggested that they bolt. Lily wanted to call the police or an ambulance but Daniel said they will. On the beach, they freaked about about being fugitives. Daniel hugged Lily tightly and said he wouldn't let anything happen to her.

Malcolm apprised Christine and Paul of Daniel's memory recall. They were rightfully shocked to learn that Daniel remembered that Cassie was driving the car that night. "That certainly would explain why Cassie was so desperate to talk to Daniel, why she would walk out of a hospital with a raging fever," deduced Chris, who was optimistic that she finally had something to build a defense. "If Daniel is telling the truth, I think I may know a way to prove it," said Paul.

Phyllis was still peeved that Nick involved the L.A.P.D. "Mr. Newman did the right thing," admonished a cop. "We need to find those kids. If you know something about the whereabouts of your son and his girlfriend, you should tell us now, Mrs. Abbott, before they get in deeper than they already are." Nick called Sharon but she was chagrined to learn he didn't know when he was coming home. After hanging up, Nick, Neil and Phyllis overheard the police report about a gas station robbery and that a Caucasian teenage boy and an African-American teenage girl were seen fleeing the scene. A stunned Phyllis wanted to be taken to the crime scene which made Nick and Neil suspicious. They found money and a plane ticket in Phyllis' purse. She admitted she had seen the kids on the beach but insisted that since they were going to be arrested, she wanted to give them a chance for a better life. The men were furious at her because if she hadn't lied to them, then Daniel and Lily wouldn't have been at the convenience store. Malcolm called Neil with an update.

Victor praised Victoria for the way she has been running the family biz. "One day, I hope that you and your brother will fulfill my fondest dreams, and that is for the two of you to run Newman Enterprises as a team," Vic smiled. Victoria then convinced her dad to let her hire Brad.

Tom and Ashley came home after attending a baseball game. He suggested that for their next date, they go dancing at some romantic jazz club. Ashley then made excuses about her busy schedule, obviously not wanting to hurt his feelings. She explained that she was seeing Paul now, and didn't want to lead Tom on; she likes him but platonically. He took the news well, though he tried to convince her to wait and see how things went with them. She told him not to "dismiss friendship, it has a lot more legs that some of my romances." He appreciated her honesty and they said they would see each other soon. Once outside, he looked angry.

Gloria confirmed to Michael that she hired an attorney to have Tom declared legally dead. Mike was upset when his mom admitted that she told Lauren that he suggested the legal manuever. "Now I'll have to do damage control!" he wailed just before Lauren showed up and inquired what the fuss was all about. "You know that stuff I told you earlier?" Glo sniffed. "Well, he just read me the riot act because apparently, it's supposed to be all hush-hush big secret." Later, Lauren told Michael she thought his plan was brilliant, but he wanted to keep her out of it to protect her. However, being "co-conspirators is kinda a turn-on," so he dramatically swept everything off his desk and threw her down on it. Later, they snuggled and she suggested having a civil service or eloping, but he refused. He didn't want to take the joy of the wedding plans away from Gloria and Kevin. And, "besides, I'm anxious to meet your son," he said. Lauren looked uncomfortable.

A depressed Sharon ran into Brad at the athletic club. She suggested taking their kids on a picnic but he voiced his concern that she needed to heal. Sharon admitted that Abby reminded her of Cassie and apologized for being such a burden. Brad assured that she wasn't, but she suspected he was cautious of spending too much time with her because she could become dependant on him. He didn't think that would happen because she was really looking forward to Nick coming home. She hoped Nick was finding the peace he needed. After she left, Victoria called and demanded that Brad "meet me in dad's office — correction, my office — first thing tomorrow" and hung up.

At the GCAC, Paul offered his sympathies to Bobby in the steam room. He wondered if Bobby was in trouble, as he had seen Bobby talking to Vinny. Bobby finally broke down and admitted, "they're threatening my unborn child." Paul encouraged Bobby to work from the inside to bring down the mob. Before Paul left, he warned Bobby not to drop his guard. One of Vinny's goons came in and asked if he could turn up the heat.

At Newman, Sharon was surprised to find Victoria running the show. Victoria looked swamped, so Sharon suggested that Victoria hire Brad. Although she doubted that Victor would approve, and that Brad might not even be interested, Victoria said she'd think about making that move.

Nikki stopped by Brad's to thank him for distracting Sharon at the Abbott barbecue, though she wished Sharon would turn to her family for comfort. Brad explained that he knew how Nick was feeling, and by sharing that with Sharon, he could make her understand her husband better. Nikki wondered if he was bored, but he wouldn't consider returning to work because of Abby. She hated to see his talent go to waste. He asked her to tell Nick to come home and be with his family.

Mac and Kay ate together at the GCAC and discussed J.T. over a chocolate soufflé. J.T. spotted them in the mirror, and quickly left.... Kevin came to the loft looking for Mac. He was shocked by Brittany's appearance, and said, "you got so fat!" He then figured out that she's pregnant. He figured out that she was the reason Mac and J.T. weren't together. Brittany suggested that Kevin pursue Mac now that J.T. was out of the picture. J.T. came home and ordered Kevin to leave. He was pissed that Britt was pushing Kevin at Mac, and that there seemed to be no way out of this situation....Back at the GCAC, Kevin approached Mac's table. Kay went off to get a manicure, while Kevin apologized for sending her back to J.T. She thanked him for being there for her.

Nicholas found Phyllis at the cafe. He thought it would be better if the cafe manager called him if he saw the kids. Phyllis lingered behind to tell Ethan to call her instead.... Malcolm called Neil at Brendan's and offered his help. A LAPD cop came along and informed Neil that a warrant for Lily's arrest had been issued in Genoa City. Nick and Phyllis showed up. The cop said they all needed to hope that the kids turned up that night.

At the beach, Daniel told Lily he remembered the accident, he could see himself in the backseat and was positive Cassie had been driving. He wanted to go home and straighten all of this out. She suggested they call Malcolm for help.... They went to a convenience store, where there was a phone around back. Malcolm told Lily her father was in town. He believed their story, and promised to call Christine. He advised her to go to Brendan's where Neil was. As she hung up, they heard gunshots and a car speeding away. They slowly approached the convenience store, where inside they saw the empty cash register lying open, and the clerk dead on the floor. Lily gagged, while Daniel ran over to the man's side.

Sharon broke from Brad's embrace and apologized for her breakdown. Ashley made her presence known and expressed her happiness that Sharon and Noah could share the holiday with the Abbotts. Noah and Abby showed up and Sharon announced it was time to go home. Noah invited Brad to one of his soccer games then left with his mom. Ashley pointed out to Brad how Sharon comes alive when she's around Abby. Ash then advised Brad it might not be healthy to let Sharon bond too much with Abby. Brad admitted that Sharon seemed to be at the end of her rope with Nick out of town.

When Paul encountered Nikki at the athletic club, she surprised him with the news that J.T. is the father of Brittany's baby. "She was always a spoiled, immature little diva," groused Nikki. She also revealed how Bobby and Britt were receiving mysterious baby gifts. Nikki observed Vinnie talking to Bobby and asked Paul who he was. Paul answered that Vinnie was a small-time hood. "I wonder what he wants with Bobby?" asked Nikki. After Vinnie left, Paul asked Bobby about J.T.'s involvement and Bobby ordered him to butt out. Sharon showed up and Nikki asked where she had been all day. Sharon replied that she was at the Abbott barbecue thanks to Brad's invitation. "I can't help but to feel alone and cut off from my husband," lamented Sharon. Nikki gently urged her daughter-in-law to remain patient.

Nick and Neil were upset that Phyllis went to the beach by herself since they all agreed to stick together. Nick still didn't trust Phyllis and checked her cell phone log to confirm that she hadn't been in contact with the kids. After Phyllis left, Nick was sure she had her own agenda but Neil wasn't convinced. Nick then headed out on his own. Meanwhile, Phyllis showed up at the beach restaurant and asked the manager who was wearing the fruit costumes earlier that day. When Phyllis showed him the photos of Lily and Daniel, he confirmed he had hired them. Phyllis asked the manager to call her when they show up tomorrow for their wages just before an angry Nick arrived.

Mackenzie didn't understand why she and J.T. couldn't be together just because he's having a baby with Brittany. "I wanna stand by you," she pleaded and he insisted he didn't deserve her. "You changed me," J.T. admitted and they kissed, but he broke away and told Mac he was bad news. "I don't need you in my life anymore," J.T. lied. Mac accused him of using her and he reminded her that she knew what kind of man he was before she moved in. Mac ran out as a tortured J.T. stayed behind.

As Daniel and Lily sat next to a bonfire on the beach, he had a flashback to the tragic circumstances that led up to his present predicament. After he fell asleep, Daniel dreamed he was in the backseat of his car and that Cassie was driving. He woke up and excitedly told Lily that he remembered.

J.T was shocked when Mackenzie announced she was moving back in. "Now that I've had some time, I realized I can't walk away from you, she declared. Brittany walked in and was surprised to find Mac. Britt wasn't happy to learn of Mac's intentions. "You can't do this," said Brittany. "The whole idea is ridiculous." Mac was crushed when J.T. agreed. "Everything Brittany said makes sense," he affirmed. Mac ordered Britt to get out and she complied. J.T. told Mac that he couldn't deal with her right now.

Gloria was giddy and nervous about the Abbott Fourth of July party. Ashley assured Jack that she wouldn't make waves for their stepmom while he was bummed that Diane was stuck in Chicago with work so Kyle couldn't make it. Kay, Jill, Esther, Michael, Lauren, Kevin, Brad, Sharon, Noah and Paul showed up, too. "I trust all cell phones and pagers are turned off," said Kay. Jill was surprised to observe Brad and Sharon looking close. "Isn't that interesting?" Jill muttered to herself. Malcolm arrived to take photos. Sharon fretted when Noah wanted to go swimming, but he pointed out that Cassie was watching over him. Brad informed a curious Jack that he was enjoying his time off from the corporate world. Sharon was peeved by Jack's concern for Phyllis. Kevin thanked John for letting him come to the party. Michael asked Gloria if she had started proceedings to have Tom declared dead. "I'm not going to spoil this party by wasting one minute of thinking about that bastard," proclaimed Glo. She later offered Lauren the Abbott house for her wedding to Michael. Jill asked Malcolm when he was coming to work for Jabot, but he couldn't make that decision until Lily came home. Michael and Lauren were caught off guard when Gloria made a toast to their upcoming nups but her words were kind and uplifting. Sharon went inside the Abbott house and cried over a photo of Cassie. Brad found her and Ashley watched from afar as he held Sharon in a comforting embrace.

Nikki and Victor enjoyed a walk in the park. "Just us and the squirrels and the birds," smiled Nikki but she got depressed thinking of Cassie because the Fourth was her favorite holiday. Nikki wondered if Nicholas would ever get over his grief. Victor then surprised Nikki with a romantic meal at the athletic club, where he rented out the whole restaurant for just them. Vic expressed how much he loved his wife; they shared a glass of champagne and a dance. He then announced that they were taking a three-week cruise aboard a private yacht. Nikki was thrilled.

Drucilla was bowled over when Devon confessed he was in contact with his mother. Dru wanted to know how it went and Devon admitted his mom was still on drugs. He tried to put on a brave front and bristled when Dru tried to console him. "Do you plan on seeing your mother again?" asked Dru and his silence confirmed he would. She assured Devon that she understood his desire to reach out to his mom. "You're my son, I have to understand," Dru smiled, but he admitted that his mom didn't want to see him anymore and walked out of the room.
