Y&R Recaps Week of Aug. 1, 2005

Victor cared for Nikki in the aftermath of her kidnapping. Nikki worried about Bobby and wondered if he knows he's now a father. "I'm so sorry you had to go through this ordeal," he said, stroking her cheek. "It was a nightmare," she shuddered. "I'm just glad things turned out the way they did." Victor held her and assured her that Bobby and Brittany would be all right.

In the hospital, the nurse informed Brittany that her son was doing well for a preemie. Brit was disappointed that Bobby still hadn't called. "Someone must've heard from Bobby by now," she told JT. JT tried to get Brit to eat, but she was too upset. "This isn't the way this was supposed to turn out," she said. "I'm scared."

Meanwhile, Bobby told Christine and Paul that he has evidence to put Vinny and his gang away for a long time. Chris stopped his tirade long enough to let him know he's a dad. Paul reminded him that even though Vinny and Luca are in jail, if the rest of the mob finds out what Bobby did, he's dead. Christine and Paul revealed that they've arranged to have him go into protective custody, and that Brittany and the baby would also be taken care of. Paul told him it was okay to visit Brit at the hospital. Later, Brit was thrilled to see her husband. He was relieved that their baby is going to be healthy. JT looked uncomfortable as Bobby helped Brit to her feet so they could go visit their son. After they left, he called Mac and asked to talk.

Kevin and Mac put together a business plan for their coffee house. "Wow, you're so beautiful when you're wound up," he told her. "You're glowing." "I haven't been this excited in a long time," she agreed. Later, Mac went to meet JT. He filled her in the ruse he, Brittany and Bobby had been playing, pretending that the baby was his and Brit's. A confused Mac didn't know how to respond. "You kept me in the dark and jumped through all these hoops for Brittany!" she cried. "You sold out." JT argued that it was the only way to keep Brittany safe. "Any of idea of what I've been through so that you could be Brittany's knight in shing armor?" Mac went on. JT apologized profusely and begged for her forgiveness. He then kissed her and she kissed back. "How do I not know you're lying to me know?" she wondered.... Meanwhile, Angelo went to the hospital and told the nurse he's Bobby brothers. Nurse Clueless told him exactly where Brit and Bobby's son, Joshua, is.

The Winterses and Michael waited to hear the judge's verdict on Lily. Mike's mind was on other things, though, namely his argument with Lauren over him visiting Scott in Toronto. Finally, the judge called Lily and her family into his quarters. He decided to not try her as an adult and let her go for now, but warned her that if she messes up, she can end up back in a juvenile facility. He also told her that he doesn't feel she's shown enough remorse for what she did, and that she isn't to leave town. After, the family celebrated. Dru began to lecture her daughter, but Lily stopped her, wanting to savor, "the miracle" of no longer being locked up. "I wish this were happening for Daniel," she lamented," because he does not deserve to be in there." Dru was just about to muzzle Lily when the teen yammered on some more about her boyfriend. "One more strike and we're not going to be able to help you again," Neil told her. Her parents urged her to change her attitude. "You should be planning your senior year," Dru explained. Lily took this to mean her folks don't want her to date; they clarified that they just don't want her to date Daniel. "Years down the road, you're going to say, 'Daniel, who?' " Dru stated (yeah, like that argument ever works on teens!).

Lauren went to Toronto to see her son. Scott was surprised, but happy that his mom stopped by. "You're looking a little thin," she admonished in typical mom mode, before moving on to asking if he has a girlfriend ("They're all special," he told her). She then began to ask him about his writing, but he could tell that she was really there for some other reason. She blurted out that she and Michael are engaged; Scott said he liked Mike when he met him. She then admitted that she and Michael had had a huge argument. "If you're already fighting, maybe he isn't the right guy," Scott stated. Lauren assured him that Michael is definitely the one. Scott went on the dispense some advice. "When did my son become the relationship expert?" she asked. She 'fessed up that she and Baldwin have been engaged since May, but that they're probably not going to have the wedding in Genoa City. Scott was perturbed to hear she doesn't want him at the wedding. "I look at you and this man that you've become and I know all the decisions I've mad in my life are the right ones," she said, sniffling back some tears (Aw, Mom, way to embarrass your kid).... Back in Genoa City, Michael continued to badger Brad about Lauren. Brad suggests he look up Sheila.... In Toronto, Lauren left Scott's apartment. Out of a back room came ... Sheila. "So, you're mother's getting married," she chirped to Scott. Dun Dun DUN!

At the hospital, Brittany wished Bobby could be with her, and worried that he wasn't even alive. JT assured her that Bobby is all right, but Brit wasn't so sure. Soon, Victor and Paul arrived there, with Vic supporting an injured Nikki. "My God, what happened?" Brit wondered. Paul told Brittany that even thought Vinny and Luca were arrested that she wasn't out of danger yet. She was devastated to learn that Bobby had gone away to a safe place. "I need Bobby here. He needs to know he's the father," she cried. Later, when Brit was with the baby, Paul informed JT that Bobby was now a target. Brit returned just in time to hear this. "The ruse was supposed to protect me and my family!" she wailed. "What if Bobby never comes back? Who's gonna help me take care of the baby? Who's gonna take care of me?"

Michael braced himself for some bad news after Lauren asked if they could talk. Both agreed they weren't happy with the way they'd left things... then sank into a hot kiss (complete with him dipping her — whew!). After, Scott called and wondered why she hadn't said much about her most recent relationship. She was shocked when her son informed her that Mike had already paid him a visit in Toronto. An oblivious Scott wondered why his mom sounded so freaked; she abruptly ended their conversation. She then turned to Michael, her face the picture of rage. "I hear the weather is lovely in Toronto," she began. "Care to comment?" Michael refused to divulge how he found Scott and wouldn't apologize for wanting to meet his future stepson. "I wanted to introduce you when the time was right," she explained. "You didn't want him at our wedding!" Michael countered. "Is this what I have to look forward to — you just go and do what you want to do regardless of how it's going to affect me?" she asked. Michael was still confused about the whole situation; Lauren reminded him how hard she had to push him to get him to tell her about his family. Michael argued that he and his family hadn't had a relationship, but she and Scott do. "I hate the thought of your son not being in our wedding," he said. Lauren wouldn't buy it. "When I say something is off-limits, I mean it!" she shrieked before storming out of the room (and giving the door a good slam).

Brad filled in Sharon about his plans for Seasons. He admitted that being an employee — even a top-level one — isn't good enough for him. Sharon told him to forget about Jack and remember that work is supposed to be fun. "That's what I love about you, your energy," Brad praised. Sharon said that she wouldn't be able to fully be there for the project because she still has some things to work though in her personal life; he promised to be there.

Nick went to see his parents, and wondered why only Victoria was there. He offered to wait up for them with her. The sibs sat down for some drinks and sandwiches, and Victoria and Nick discussed her time in Italy. Victoria urged him to go back to work. "You can be CEO, I'll be god of the company," he quipped. Soon, Sharon joined them and revealed that Brad wanted her ideas for the company. She was ready to go to bed and let him hang out with his sister, but Nick decided to go with Sharon.

Phyllis came home from the Winters' home and was surprised to find Jack waiting up for her (and looking really cute in his reading glasses). She admitted that things hadn't gone so well at the Winters when Phyllis had tried to apologize to them. Jack consoled Phyl and told her how beautiful she is. "You've been practicing the art of seduction way before you met me," she purred. "I've been working up to the main event," he replied (awwww). Jack then urged her to relax and stop worrying about other people's problems; Phyllis was aghast that he was insinuating that she shouldn't get involved in Daniel's life. "I did not mean to suggest that you abandon your son," he clarified. "You're going to be there for him every day during the trial and I'm going to be there right by your side." Phyllis confessed that she's preparing for the worst, but knows she can't think like that if she wants to be there for Daniel.

Michael ran into Brad at a bar. Over drinks, the guys commisserated, and Michael filled him in on his fight with Lauren and how she's kept Scott secret from him. Brad refused to give him the inside dish. "Is it the father? Is he some maniac or a bigamist who has an extra wife stashed away?" Mike wondered. "None of the above," Brad answered. "Scott's father is dead." Brad urged Michael to just be happy with Lauren and not worry about the past, but Michael said he couldn't do that.... Alone, Lauren wished she could tell her fiancé the truth about Scott; she then flashbacked to various confrontations with Sheila, including Sheila kidnapping her.

At the club, Vinny held Bobby at gunpoint. Inside the dressing room, Nikki screamed for Marsino to save her. Meanwhile, Victor sat at a table inside the main room of the club, looking bored even though he was surrounded by scantily-clad women. Turns out, he was more interested in pursuing Angelo and seeing if Ang had any info on Vinny and Nikki. Vic began to get aggresive with Angelo, but Paul stopped him. Victor then wandered into the back area of the club, where he found Nikki being manhandled by Vinny and Luca. Vinny threatened to shoot her if Vic came any closer, then held the gun up to Newman as Nikki was led away. Vinny took Nikki into the main part of the club (first clearing everyone out). "You're not gonna take my wife," Victor said with about as much conviction as someone who was having his pencil stolen, rather than a loved one. Nikki, however, gave a convincing scream as Luca grabbed her hard by the arm and twisted it back. Victor lunged forward and shots were fired; he then grabbed Vinny and threw him over the bar. Finally, Newman was able to rescue his wife. Victor sank to the floor and held a weeping Nikki in his arms. Nikki insisted that she didn't need to go to the hospital, but as soon as she stood up, she passed out.

Ashley tried to get a worn-looking Gloria to open up to her. Gloria explained that she can't get "Kevin's father" off her mind. Ash wondered if something had happened to remind her of him; Gloria lied that she had nightmares about him (the understatement of the century). She then recalled how everything had seemed all right with Tom until Kevin was born, then launched into the story of Tom's abuse of Kevin. Gloria admitted to being too scared to call the police. "Every once in a while he'd hold me and kiss me and make love with me and it would be like the early days," she said. "I knew if I just tried harder and did what he said I could get him to love me again."

Kevin asked Michael if he'd heard from their mother. Kev was worried that she'd heard from Tom. Terrible Tom then swaggered in. "Don't worry, I took real, good care of your mom," he sneered. Kevin blanched when Tom referred to Gloria as "his wife". Tom stated that he'd keep their marriage secret provided she "take care of [him] properly." Kevin and Michael demanded to know what he meant by that; Tom explained to a disbelieving Kevin that Gloria's now paying him back for all the things he did for the family. "Why don't you say what it really is," Michael said, indicating the blackmail. Tom refused to say the word, convinced that he was being taped. Later, Michael visited Gloria and began to question her about Tom blackmailing her, but Gloria didn't want to say too much with John and Ashley around. Michael pointed out that John's going to notice if Gloria's given money to Tom and it's missing from their account. "Don't let Tom have that power over you again," he pleaded. "It's my life and my marriage and this is how I'm going to handle it," she replied. "You're being weak and scared and it will destroy you," Michael said. "Losing John will destroy me," Gloria answered, her eyes filling with tears. Later, Tom stared in the window and Gloria stood and contemplated her life.

Brittany held and cooed at her newborn. Soon, the paramedics arrived, asking JT to stand back so they could "evaluate" the situation (There's a woman sitting on the floor with a newborn in her arms. What is there to evaluate?). The medics approved of Mac's birthing methods and tended to Brit and her newborn son, who was born two months premature. Mac rolled her eyes when Brit asked JT to come over to her stretcher (C'mon, Mac, the woman did just give birth); Brittany whispered to him to call Bobby. After Brit and baby were led away, Mac awkwardly offered her congratulations and advised JT to go be with Brittany. Later, Kevin went to visit Mac and see if she'd spoken to the Newmans about buying Crimson Lights; Mac revealed that she hadn't had time on account of having had to deliver Brit's baby. Kev was understandably impressed, but Mac's thoughts were more about how JT had been paying attention to Brittany. "I have to accept the fact that he's out of my life forever," she sighed. "I still can't believe JT and Brittany are parents," Kevin cracked. "Poor kid — I feel for him." Mac argued that she thought they'd make good parents. Meanwhile, at the hospital, Brit and JT admired the baby, whom they named Joshua. "You have no idea what it's like to have a baby, JT," she stated (Ya think?!). "My heart is so full," she went on (Oh, okay, that makes more sense). "I'm so lucky to have you," she cooed to the child.

Over drinks, Brad admired Lauren's engagement ring. "It's also my force field against temptation," she cracked. "I'm engaged, honey, not dead." Lauren pressed Brad about Jabot, saying that she was sure he'd rather be running it than working for Newman, but Brad didn't want to talk about it and switched the talk to wedding plans. Lauren admitted that they're not going so well. "Maybe I still have a shot with you," Brad joked. Lauren explained that she doesn't want Scott attending the wedding. "I remember when he was growing up I barely slept because I was afraid I'd wake up and he'd be gone ... he's anonymous [in Toronto]," she said, noting that Scott is unaware of Lauren and Sheila's sordid past. Brad told her that now that she's getting married she owes it to Michael to tell him everything. "Are you sure you want to be married to Michael because I don't think you're really ready," he observed. Lauren insisted that she is. Later, Lauren and Michael got together and she began to say that she's been thinking about relationships. Michael, sure that he was about to get dumped, asked her to refrain from giving him bad news because he had a rough night.

Victor, Paul and Bobby continued to track Vinny. Meanwhile, at the warehouse Vinny interrogated a bound Nikki, threatening to "whack her," if she didn't start talking about Marsino. As Vinny and his thug, Luca, argued, Nikki tried to escape her bonds. Before she got a chance, she was led away by Vinny. "Maybe you'll smarten up and tell me where the evidence is," he suggested. Paul, Bobby and Victor soon went to the warehouse; Vic was horrified to smell Nikki's perfume. They then spotted "M-A-R.." written out in blood. Vinny took Nikki to a dressing room at the club and tied her up again. Nikki begged to be untied, but Vinny refused. "Do you think Bobby would protect you? He wouldn't lift a finger. You've got five minutes to save your pampered, miserable life," he yelled, right before starting to beat her. The trio of sleuths arrived at the club; Bobby questioned Angelo about Nikki and Vinny, but he wasn't much help.... In the dressing room, Vinny held a gun to Nikki's head. Nikki still refused to help him. Eventually, Bobby went to investigate the club's dressing rooms, as Luca held his hand to her mouth. When Nikki heard Bobby, she bit her captor's hand; he took it away long enough for her to yell Bobby's name.

JT tried to help Brittany, who'd gone into labor. "It's too soon," Brit kept crying. Luckily, Mac happened to come by to visit JT; she took action and called for help. She then acted like the expert, getting Brittany a pillow, water and instructing her on how to breathe. Mac revealed that she'd worked at a clinic and knows somethin' 'bout birthin' babies. Brit admitted that she hadn't gotten around to taking Lamaze classes. A typical giving birth scene ensued, involving lots of screaming and panicking and further instructions from Mac (but without the touching before and after stories that at least accompany the sometimes tough-to-watch scenes on A BABY STORY). Thankfully, Brittany (and this squeamish recapper) only had to endure a very short labor, and the baby was born. As soft, twinkly guitar music played in the background, Brit held her newborn in her arms and looked at the baby with wonder.

Dru was horrified that Lily was being treated like a "common criminal." "We have given her every opportunity in life and she's just throwing it out the window," Dru cried to Neil. "It's possible she's going to be spending her senior year in jail, thanks to Phyllis." Neil believed that the judge was just going to make her stay there for a few days. "She shouldn't be there at all," Dru said.

Speaking of Phyl, Jack tried to comfort her about the upcoming trial and for getting Lily and Daniel a brief meeting. Phyllis planned to do some damage control and speak with the Winterses. Jack did his best to convince her she's a decent person. "My life just isn't the same without you in it," he told her. "It isn't as interesting," she cracked, before they kissed. Jack offered to go with her to Neil and Dru's, but she insisted on doing it herself. Soon, she arrived at the Winter home and offered herself up to Dru. "I deserve every shot." Neil grabbed Dru to stop her from "kicking [Phyllis's] behind." Phyllis tried to explain how she'd just wanted to lift the kids' spirits, and that she planned to take full responsibility for everything that had happened. Dru and Neil wouldn't accept her apologies, though. "If something happens to our daughter, it's on your head!" Dru railed, showing her Lily's letter. "This is what I think about you and Daniel," seethed Dru, tearing the letter in half.

Meanwhile, Jack told Ashley that he's considering hiring Phyllis. Ash feared that Phyl would be a loose cannon and wondered if Jack wanted Phyllis around so he can be close to her. "Whether or not we can recreate that old magic, I'm sure as hell gonna have fun trying," he smirked. "Good luck, Jacky, you're gonna need it," Ashley said.

Devon visited an incarcerated Lily in juvie hall. She urged him not to blame Daniel for everything. "It's the whole bad boy thing you like," he concluded, but Lil insisted Dan's not a bad boy. "He still got wasted that night," Devon pointed out. "And now your whole future is up for grabs." "I thought you were on my side," Lily snapped, pointing out that Devon has gone to see his mom even though he was told not to. "Just don't expect me to like the guy," Devon relented. Lily pleaded with him to give Daniel a note (in addition to the one she'd given Dru), but he refused. "What if you wanted to get a message to your mom and couldn't?" she hypothisized. Devon gave in and went to see Daniel, but made sure to tell Dan that he didn't care about him and was only doing it for Lily. "I know I shouldn't even do this," he said, handing Daniel Lily's second letter. In it, Lily assured him that she's okay; as he read, Daniel recalled the time they spent on the beach while they were on the run.

Victor grabbed Vinny around the neck and shoved him into a wall. Still, Vic let him go, while Paul, Brittany and JT monitored him via a tracking device.... Bobby and Victor soon arrived to help Paul find Vinny.... Brittany and JT returned home, but Brit felt like she should do something. "How did Nikki get dragged into this?" she wondered. "Vinny isn't human. He looks like he could cut your throat without batting an eyelash!" JT urged her to keep calm for the baby and Nikki's sake. Brit was then overcome by contractions. "Oh God, not now!" Brittany moaned... Meanwhile, a bound Nikki complained that her hands were getting numb. She told her captor that Vic can pay a lot of money, but he explained that "dead man can't pay." A weeping Nikki was thankful when the thug undid her bonds; she admitted that she's afraid he'll hurt her. Nikki lied that she needed to use the facilities; when the thug stepped away, she tried to escape. Unfortunately, Vinny and the thug saw her make her move and tied her right back up. Vinny told her that Victor is "out of his mind." He went on to explain that since she's tight with Bobby, she knows where their "stuff" is stashed. "You have no choice but to believe me," she stated. Vinny warned that if she doesn't start talking he's going to kill her.

Christine begged Glenn to give her more time to prepare for the trial, but he refused, explaining that he needs to show how drunk driving can't go unpunished. "I take no pleasure in putting teenagers behind bars," he insisted.

Sharon demanded that Nick tell her what Cassie said to him before she died, but he refused. Finally, he gave in and revealed that she'd told him, "Don't blame Daniel. It's not his fault." Nick was convinced that Daniel had convinced Cassie to say it, but Sharon wasn't so sure, recalling that Daniel had been distraught over Cassie's condition. "Who's side are you on in this?" asked Nick, "because I'm starting to feel like it's not mine." "Christine is just doing her job," Sharon reasoned. "If you accept any of this it means I accept Cassie was reponsible for her own death, which I absolutely do not," he countered. Sharon continued to urge Nick to give the defense Cassie's clothes. Nick wanted the trial to be over with as quickly as possible. "I know you don't want to hear this, but we don't really know what happened that night," Sharon noted. Nick accused her of lecturing him. Soon, the couple was interrupted by Christine, who reminded them that they need to help the trial along. "I want the clothes and I want them now," she stated. Chris implored Sharon to get Nick to listen; Sharon concluded that Chris is getting too close to the case. "You are crossing a line you don't want to cross," Christine explained, before leaving. Nick thanked his wife for backing him up.

Dru blamed Phyllis for Lily being in juvie hall. Detective Webber reminded her that Lil's old enough to make her own decisions. Dru proposed that she spend the night with her daughter and flashbacked to happier times with Lily; she was granted 20 minutes in Lily's cell. Dru was appalled that the first thing Lil asked about was Daniel. "He's ruining your life!" Dru spat. "I am sick and tired of listening to you talk about how you're in love with this two-bit loser!" Lily explained that she's really in love with Daniel; Dru pointed out that Lily being incarcerated in what's real. Dru wondered if Lily had slept with Daniel. "With everything's that happened, there's no way," Lily said to Dru's relief. Dru began to cry, lamenting that she didn't want to leave "her baby" there. Lily reminded her that she's no longer a child and wants to stay put because it means she's close to Daniel. "When I look around, I can see what he's seeing and feel what he's feeling," she explained, to Dru's chagrin. "I want to let him know that somebody is thinking of him," Lily went on, pleading with her mother to get a note to her beau.

At Crimson Lights, Mac told Kevin that she's not going to let JT get her down and she's not going to get involved in JT and Brittany's mess. Kevin revealed that he's looking for a job and was surprised to hear that Mac had once worked there. Mac proposed that she and Kevin go into business together, specifically owning Crimson Lights. Kevin wasn't so sure Nick and Sharon would want to do business with him, but Mac was more positive. "Does this mean that there could never be anything else between us?" he wondered. "Let's not go there," Mac urged. Kevin gave her the okay to go over to the Newmans' alone.
