Y&R Recaps Week of Dec. 26, 2005

Friday, December 30, 2005
At the Newmans' New Year's Eve dinner, Phyllis squirmed when Sharon, Daniel and Noah left the room and she was alone with Nick. He later walked her to her car and she praised Sharon as a "a lovely hostess" and "sweet and warm," and expressed her guilt over their night of passion. Sharon's only human, he responded, and reported that his wife had had a close call with Brad during their business trip. Phyllis planted a kiss on Nick and departed.

Mac tenderly comforted Kevin, who opened up about wanting to kill his father as a boy. He said he didn't know if he should laugh or cry and wrestled with his conflicting emotions for his monstrous father. Kevin regretted his lost opportunity to one day forgive his dad. Mac reminded him that no matter what one goes through, life can be wonderful. They kissed and lovingly held each other.

Paul and J.T. continued their search for Sheila.

At the, bomb shelter, Lauren found cans of food and a can opener. The food was spoiled, but Sheila wolfed it down anyway. A sympathetic Lauren created a splint for her wounded tormentor's ankle. The girls hit pay dirt when Lauren discovered a radio. They heard a news brief announcing that Tom was murdered and Ashley Abbott arrested.

Over dinner, Abby announced to Brad and Victoria that her New Year's Resolution is to try to like Victoria. After the little girl left the room, Brad told Victoria he loves her. They shared a slow dance to Ella Fitzgerald's "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?" and then Brad presented champagne and gold-colored party poppers. Inside hers was a scroll that read Brad's New Year's resolution: "Marry Victoria Newman, if she'll have me."

Christine questioned Ashley about what happened the night she found Tom. Ash recounted the story and remembered seeing her father shoot Tom, but she didn't tell Christine that. Just then, a doctor announced that John may be regaining consciousness.

Ashley was hauled back to the police station, where Det. Hawkins tried to trick her into confessing to cold-blooded murder.

Lauren tried to tend to Sheila's ankle but she wouldn't let her. Sheila begged for Lauren to untie her so she can treat herself and promised Lauren that she won't attack her. "You'll be fine — quit the whining," ordered Lauren.

Jack stopped by the ranch to see Victor. Jack's biggest regret of 2005? That Victor has a stake in Jabot again. Jack warned Vic not to back Nikki and Phyllis' wellness center project. "Nikki and Phyllis are Jabot employees," Jack reminded. After Jack left, Brad stopped by to clear the air about Victoria.

Michael, Kevin and Gloria couldn't believe Tom was gone. Jack arrived at the hospital. Gloria was scared John might have another heart attack. Michael told Jack that Tom is dead, and Ashley was arrested for his murder. "Was he shot?" Jack asked, revealing that John owned a gun. Christine called Jack, telling him bail had been set at one million dollars. Gloria visited with John. "Wake up, John. I'm begging you. Your family needs you, Mr. Abbott," she cried.

Mac cooked meatloaf for J.T., and he told her how unbelievable she is. Paul stopped by and ordered J.T. to report to work, ruining his night with Mac.

Phyllis dropped by the ranch looking for Daniel. Nick asked her to help him cook dinner, but then Sharon came home. Sharon invited Phyllis to stay for dinner with Daniel. Would Nick have Phyllis for dessert?

Brad professed his love to Sharon. "You're the woman I've been searching for... the woman of my dreams," he blubbered. Sharon admitted she loves him too, but then ran off. "Goodbye, Sharon," Brad said to himself. Hello, Victoria!

Kevin and Michael arrived at the hospital; Michael hoped Tom survived so they can get answers about Lauren. Paul showed up and told a mystified Michael that Sheila was masquerading as Brenda all along. Gloria arrived next, demanding to see John, who was in a car accident. Glo called Ashley, who was still at the station. Christine arranged bail, so Ashley raced over to the hospital. Michael and Kevin then told Gloria that Tom was shot. Tom came to and asked for Michael. Michael threatened to finish him off, then Kevin railed at him. But before Tom could tell them the truth, he died.

Sharon went shopping at Fenmore's and got to know Yolanda. Sharon offered to ask around at Newman to see if there's an entry level job for Yolanda (um, wouldn't Neil have some pull?). Brad showed up, and Sharon comforted him.

At Crimson Lights, Victor, Nikki and Phyllis brainstormed about the Wellness Center, just as Jack walked in. "Well, isn't this cozy?" Jack interrupted. When Victor and Nikki left, Jack figured out that Phyllis went to "Old Moneybags" when Jack didn't help her out.

Nick told Victoria he's going to back off Brad. When Victoria said Nick needed to loosen up and have more fun, he flashed back to playing video games — and having sex — with Phyllis.

Sheila tried to tell Lauren that Tom isn't coming back; "He's halfway to Brazil by now." Little did they know he was halfway to hell. EOE (end of episode), Ashley was arrested for the murder of Tom Fisher.

The police arrived to find Ashley standing over Tom's body holding a smoking gun. Michael showed up and started screaming at Tom, who was unconscious and near death. At the station, Ashley refused to answer any questions until her attorney was present, so she called Christine (guess Michael would have been a conflict of interest).

Lauren taunted Sheila. "I don't think there's a man alive who would want to be with you," Lauren fired at her. "Scotty does," Sheila retorted. Lauren wanted to throw up, and a debate ensued about who makes a better mother. Sheila dared Lauren to kill her, but Lauren wouldn't stoop to Sheila's level.

Paul mourned Lauren. When Scott arrived, Paul showed him a photo of Sheila. "This is Brenda," Scott announced. Duh! Scott knew the story, "because it's the book I've been writing!" The warden from the prison called, confirming that the patient at the asylum isn't Sheila Carter. Double duh! Scott and Paul decided to set a trap for Sheila by having Scott leave "Brenda" a voicemail message.

Jack ripped into Phyllis for going behind his back and pitching the wellness center idea to Victor with Nikki.

J.T. comforted Kevin, saying he lost someone close to him too when his uncle was a victim of a carjacking. "Tom has lived longer that he should have," Kevin cried, but little did he know...

EOE (end of episode), the hospital called, informing Gloria that John was in a car accident!
