Y&R Recaps Week of Jan. 16, 2006

At the gym, Kevin spotted Michael as he lifted weights. Michael said that he's not doing anything about Sheila because Lauren doesn't want him to. The brothers then discussed Mac and J.T.; Michael concluded that their relationship wasn't solid.

Mackenzie anxiously waited for J.T. to come home. Soon, she was visited by Daniel, and they discussed what type of movies they enjoy. Mac urged Daniel to accept the fact that Lily dumped him, rather than being unhappy for the remainder of his senior year. "Don't be such a mope!" she advised, which is pretty amusing giving how she'd just been moping herself over J.T. Later at home, J.T. lamented to Mac that with Scott and Kevin around, it doesn't feel like their home and they can't do things like make love on the couch (That's where Nick and Sharon often seem to do it, too. Who knew sofas were so sexy?).

At the coffeehouse, Colleen explained to J.T. that she'd returned to town to give Ashley and the Abbotts support in the wake of Tom's murder. The exes each told the other that he/she looks great, and made plans to hang out. J.T. revealed that he's now living with Mac; Colleen seemed sincere as she offered her congratulations.

Neil, Yolanda and Devon dined at Gina's in a setting that eerily echoed the one Yo had fantasized about. Soon, Devon departed, leaving Yolanda and Neil alone. Neil praised Devon to his mom. Later, Yo thanked Neil for dinner, proclaiming that she felt like a princess. Inside, Neil suggested she watch TV or "do whatever [she wants]." Somehow, Yolanda mistook this for an invitation for something else. "I'd like to do whatever you want," she purred.

At the Abbotts', Gloria persisted in pushing the spa idea. Jack berated her for butting in, but Glo argued that Jill likes the idea. Gloria wondered if Jack was keeping things from John. Later, Ashley called Abby to help her daughter get through a nightmare. After she hung up, Gloria joined her and complained to Ash about Jack's treatment of her. Later, Michael stopped by and shared that in order to deal with Ashley's case, he needed to get full reports on everyone in the Abbott home. Michael vowed to prove that Ashley was the victim and told her not to discuss the case. After, Glo filled Michael in on her problems with Jack. Michael also told her to butt out and not alienate her husband's family. Good call, Mikey.

Nicholas and Phyllis hung out in the Newman stables and chatted about "getting back on the horse" — both in literal and figurative terms. Nick revealed that sometimes when he rides Cassie's horse, he hears her talking to him, telling him that she's okay. Nick feared that Phyllis would think him insane for sharing this, but she was touched that he felt comfortable enough to tell her. Nick said that he considers her to be a friend. Phyllis got ready to leave and asked Nick to help her remove her riding boots. Turns out Nick has a little foot fetish because he suddenly began kissing his "friend."

Jack stopped by Daniel and Phyllis's home and hung out with Daniel. Daniel hoped Jack and Phyllis would reunite; Jack wasn't sure Phyllis wanted that. Um, maybe not. Because as the guys relaxed, Nick and Phyll were taking a roll in the hay ... literally.

At the gym, Nicholas and Phyllis discussed Daniel drinking. Phyllis thanked Nick for stopping him; Nick concluded that Daniel wanted to be caught. Nick then shared that Daniel had helped him deal with his late daughter's birthday. Nick was concerned that he hadn't been devastated during the day, and worried that this meant he was losing his connection to Cassie. Phyllis patiently listened to him.

Colleen worried that Brad and Victoria had gotten engaged too quickly. Brad assured his daughter that Victoria is a "wonderful person." Victoria soon arrived and was surprised to see Colleen there. Okay, seeing Vicki and Colleen sitting side-by-side really hammers home the point how similar they look and how close in age they are. Ewwww! After Colleen left the room, Brad asked Victoria if she was concerned about Colleen's return. Vicki explained that she's not going to try to be Colleen's mother, but Brad wanted to lecture her about what it means to help him care for his family. "My family is hardly the BRADY BUNCH," she answered (though we have to wonder if Marcia and Carol ever dated the same man). Brad was touched when she stated that she enjoyed being with a man who loves his kids so much.

At the coffeehouse, Daniel told Devon that he almost got drunk to drown his sorrows about Lily "dumping" him. Daniel demanded to talk to her; Devon, of course, refused. "Lily is doing great in her school right now," stated Devon, "and if you knew what was best for her, you'd better damn stay the hell away." Later, Daniel was happy to see Colleen. Colleen was shocked when he told her that Lily had dumped him, and reported that she and J.T. are over. She became thoughtful when Daniel said that you shouldn't walk away from someone you love just for no reason.

While on their business trip, Dru noticed that Sharon seemed down. Sharon admitted that she was depressed about Cassie; she also explained that bad things have happened to her in Denver and that the city is a "bad omen" on her marriage (guess she's not a fan of DYNASTY). Sharon insisted that she's happy for Brad and Victoria. Dru was stunned that Sharon has forgiven Daniel. Dru noted that she'd love to bring Lily back home, but fears that Lily will get involved with Daniel again. Sharon argued that she'd do anything to spend some more time with her daughter.

Paul called Ashley to tell her that he missed her. He then showed up at the bar she was at and presented her with a dozen roses. He took her to dinner, where he proceeded to order her "favorite" dish for her. Paul longed for the day to come when they don't have to worry about her being charged for murder; they then toasted the future. Ashley hoped her life would soon become "boring" again.

Jill caught Gloria snooping around the office. Gloria reported that John is improving. Glo inquired about the wellness center project; Jill noted that John is unaware of the spas. Gloria suggested that she tell him about it.

John came down from his prison, er, his bedroom, and told Jack that he's sick of everyone keeping secrets from him. Jack was confident that his pop would eventually remember what had happened the night of his accident. Jack then shared that Phyllis quit and that he thinks they're over. John supported Jack's decision to not back the spas. Later, Glo came waltzing in to announce the idea of the spas. Jack told her to butt out of the family business.

Mackenzie and J.T. enjoyed a fancy dinner out. Mac passive-aggressively remarked about how J.T. loves his job. He agreed, and she then admitted that she worries about him. He promised that she wouldn't lose him. J.T. then got a call requesting he come to work. A mopey Mac stated that she was glad they'd at least gotten through dinner together.

Yolanda visited Neil at work. Yo was flattered when Neil told her that she could become an exec one day, then asked for her help on a "project." Neil then got a call that Yolanda had put in a request for an advance on her salary. Yo explained that she wanted to get an apartment; Neil suggested she save her money instead. Petulant Devon (really, does this kid ever show any other emotion) arrived and snapped at Neil for daring to give his mom advice. Yolanda then had a fantasy of her, Neil and Devon dining together as a family.

J.T. stopped by Crimson Lights ... and was shocked to see Colleen. The exes shared a warm embrace.

At the Abbotts, Gloria asked Jack if he knew where John kept the key to the gun drawer. Jack said that John kept the key on him (usually in a coat pocket) at all times. Glo took steps to keep that key from being found, like preventing John's clothing from being dry-cleaned (Um, ew.). After, Glo berated a poor maid for daring to want to clean the clothes (Horrors!). Gloria promised Ashley that "[she's] got it covered."

John complained to Ashley that he's tired of her and Gloria fussing over him. John continued to stress over the fact that he couldn't remember what happened the night of his car accident. Ash told him not to "push himself," but John was determined to keep her from going to jail.

Nikki and Phyllis went to the ranch to work on their spa project. Phyllis wondered how many people knew she quit Jabot. Phyllis then confided in Nikki how confused she is about Jack. Nikki encouraged her not to give up on herself or their project. "After what he pulled today, I'm not backing down," Phyll vowed. Later, Nikki confronted Jack about trying to sabotage their spas.

Neil and Nicholas discussed Dru and Sharon's upcoming business trip. Both men admitted that things have been stressful with their marriages. Neil reported that Yolanda's been a pain in the you-know-what. "Still it's better than what we were dealing with," Neil reasoned. "She was a drug addict on the verge of killing herself." Good to put things into perspective!

Nikki told Nick about her troubles with Jack, and how she told Phyllis she should move on. Nick readily agreed. Nick then reported that Sharon had gone on a business trip, which Nikki wasn't happy about.

At Crimson Lights, Daniel re-read Lily's breakup note for about the zillionth time. Sierra told Devon that she's sick of keeping the truth — that Lily had written another letter — from Daniel, and that Lily would find out eventually. "What do you want me to do?" squawked Devon. Um, she just told you. Later, Daniel admitted to Phyllis how he considered drowning his troubles in alcohol until Nick stopped him. Phyll was grateful that he didn't crack. Later, Daniel (again!) confronted Devon about Lily, while Phyllis thanked Nick for helping Daniel.

Yolanda informed Devon that she and Dru made amends before Dru took off on her trip. Devon reported that he's thinking of going to college in Boston. Yolanda then bugged him about his true feelings for Lily and said she'd like a man for herself. Later, Yolanda told Neil that Devon is considering going to Boston.

At the gym, a hot and sweaty Victoria greeted a hot and sweaty J.T. (Yowza!). The two workout-a-holics discussed the Ashley/Tom case. The conversation then led around to Colleen (how convenient — see below). J.T. reported that he and Mackenzie have moved in together, but that they're just "having fun." Victoria suggested that they could be headed for marriage. J.T. then spied Vicki's ring, but she explained that she and Brad are keeping their engagement low-key. J.T. promised to keep the secret and sincerely congratulated her.

A fully-clothed Brad listened to Abby warble on about how the kids at school have been mean to her due to Ashley's arrest. "Is Mom going to jail?" she cried. Brad tried to alleviate his daughter's pain with a glass of milk. That's sad and everything, but wouldn't the kids have already been making fun of her due to the fact that her dad is dating her sister? Anyway, Brad got a surprise when his older, probably-not-getting picked-on-in-school-daughter Colleen arrived on his doorstep. Colleen explained that she came home when she heard of John's accident and the Ashley mess. Abby was thrilled to see her big sis. Colleen then got rid of the tot by giving her a "present" which was actually a DVD of one of Colleen's school plays (kind of like how on her birthday Tom Cruise gave Katie Holmes a DVD collection of his movies). Colleen promised to help out with Abby, but was skeptical about his engagement to Victoria.

John was happy to return home from the hospital. A shiny, shiny Gloria (seriously, she was wearing a flashy, copper jacket) insisted that her hubby is "good as new." John tried to get answers about what had happened regarding Lauren and Sheila, but Gloria refused to fill him in. John bugged her; she then revealed that Tom and Sheila had plotted together. John recalled that Tom had harassed him and stated that Fisher deserved to die. John refused to believe that Ashley killed him.... Michael and Ashley met with DA Richards. Michael defended Ash, while she flashed back to the night of Tom's murder. Ashley then confessed to killing Tom. A shocked and furious Michael wanted to know what she was doing. Later, Ash informed Gloria about her confession. Glo thought she did the right thing. Ashley asked Gloria to help her destroy any evidence that links John to the gun.

Brad and Victoria kissed and canoodled. Vic-grope-ia ran her hands along her man's body until she remembered that it was Cassie's birthday. She then got all serious as she reminded Brad that it would be a tough day for Sharon. Brad noticed that Victoria wasn't wearing her engagement ring; she explained that she likes to wear it around her neck. She then remembered that she actually left it in the house and went to get it.

Meanwhile, at the Newmans, Sharon admired the birthday card that Noah made for his late sister. Victoria called Sharon to see how she was doing; Sharon said she was fine. However, when Nicholas soon returned home, she burst into tears. Nick comforted her, and they lit a candle in Cassie's honor. Later, Victoria interrupted them and informed Sharon that Sharon needed to go on a business trip. Nick was annoyed that she had to leave, but she promised to be home in time for a particular event.

At Crimson Lights, Mackenzie put on an ugly wig and asked J.T. if he liked her better as a blonde. J.T. told her that she's fine the way she is. Given how similar Mac's wig looked to his own hair, it's possible that he was really fearing a Single White Female situation.

Phyllis was furious that Jack was trying to sabotage her spa project. She became even angrier when she realized his real problem with the project was Victor's involvement. "Oh my God, the man sleeps between us at night!" she yelled before storming out of his office.... Meanwhile, Jill and Nikki discussed the project and concluded that Jack was trying to woo Phyllis away. They didn't have time to dwell on this, though, because Nikki's pitch meeting was about to begin. Nikki spoke to the manufacturing representatives, but they were underwhelmed by her credentials. Soon, Phyllis joined her and helped Nikki impress the execs. Jack then arrived and was furious with them for using the boardroom. Nikki stated that she can use the boardroom for whatever purpose she wants ... including choir practice or a cooking class. Okay, those would be episodes worth seeing — especially if Jack sang a solo and Victor shared his secrets of making the perfect meatloaf.
