Y&R Recaps Week Of Feb. 6, 2006

Friday, February 10, 2006
Michael admitted to Lauren it was his idea to set up Terrible Tom, and that he has to protect Ashley and come clean with the authorities. Later, he went to Bardwell to confess.

Nick and Phyllis couldn't stop staring at each other at the GCAC. "When is Sharon going out of town again?" Phyllis queried. "I want to see you again," Nick salivated. Get a room, guys! "You know what I really want to do? I want to hold your hand." She reached across the table and they...held hands! Without anyone noticing! Enter Daniel. "Sorry, did I interrupt something?" the kid wondered, without suspecting what was really going on.

Ashley told Paul that if he doesn't drop the case he will never see her again. John interrupted and called Ashley into the study. They had it out over who's guilty, and who should go to prison. Paul left and went to give Michael a lecture about mixing Ashley up with Tom.

Devon reported to Dru and Lily that Daniel was upset to see Lily.

Nikki shared with Victor that Victoria wants to set a wedding date. Despite their misgivings, Nikki insisted she has to support Victoria. At the ranch, Victoria blasted Brad when he said he postponed the divorce from Ashley.

EOE (end of episode), Lily and Daniel reunited (they were faking the whole thing!), and John had a heart-to-heart with Ashley when he told her she has to trust him. They left together to see the district attorney.

When did Daniel say Noah's summer camps would be?

Lauren grilled Michael about Tom's drug bust. Michael came clean, telling his wife how he set Tom up with Ashley's help. Lauren flipped out and wondered what would happen if Ashley told the D.A. about Michael's plan. He admitted that was a real possibility, and said he wouldn't blame Ash for saving herself that way. "Tom gets his revenge anyway," Michael lamented. He decided to turn himself in, and Lauren was terrified that their marriage would be over if he was arrested and convicted. She begged him not to talk, but he insisted he had to.

Brad was summoned by the district attorney, who wanted to talk about Ashley's case. Will asked about Ashley's "interaction" with Tom, and Brad painted Tom as someone who was obsessed with his wife. Will shared his "drug-deal-gone-bad" theory. Brad scoffed at the idea, but Will suggested Brad advise Ashley to plead guilty. Self-defense wouldn't work for her, because she wasn't assaulted and Tom was unarmed. Brad met Ashley at the GCAC and filled her in on his talk with Will. "Why give him one more piece of ammunition?" Brad asked. He'd already called his attorney and told him to oppose the divorce agreement, so there would be no decree for now. He told Ashley to accept this for Abby's sake, if for no other reason. Ashley hugged him, clearly moved by his gesture.

At the GCAC, Ashley told Nikki and Victoria about her run-in with Leanna Love. Nikki asked Victoria to re-think her decision to marry Brad, given the complicated life he has. Victoria stood firm and insisted she has no intention of stepping aside. She boasted that she was woman enough to handle Brad's crazy life, unlike his earlier wives. Later, Victoria went to the ranch and fantasized about a perfect late summer wedding to Brad in a gazebo. Brad arrived and told her there wasn't going to be a divorce right now.

Lily couldn't wait to see Daniel. Devon and Sierra tried to stall her at the coffeehouse (they know Devon never gave Daniel Lily's second letter, where she didn't break up with him after all). In another part of the coffeehouse, Daniel and Colleen bonded over getting over their exes and made plans to go to a concert together that evening. As Daniel was leaving Crimson Lights, he and Lily locked eyes. Lily tried to run into his arms, but Daniel rebuffed her and told her to stay away from him. He left, and a confused Lily ran after him. "She'll never speak to us again," lamented Sierra. Colleen walked up and saw Sierra and Devon's worried faces. They spilled all to Colleen. Daniel and Lily stormed back in, and Daniel took off for the terrace. Devon expected Lily to be angry with him, but she said she was angrier with Daniel for being a jerk.

Paul and John worked together to find evidence for John's case. Paul wanted to run tests on the coat John was wearing when Tom was shot; perhaps there was blood or residue left there. John recalled that Gloria had all of his clothes from that night dry cleaned. Even so, Gloria was reluctant to give the coat over to Paul, but John insisted and gave Paul the coat. Paul had all of John's clothes from that night sent to a lab for testing. Michael called Paul, who explained he was already working with John. Ashley came home and got into it with Paul for helping John. She insisted Paul was only helping her father "to his grave."

Victoria shared her happy news — that she and Brad were finally going to announce their engagement — to Nicholas. Nick gave her a lukewarm, "That's great." "At least you could be happy for me," huffed Vikki. Nick replied that he's happy for her, but still thinks she could do better than Brad (now there's a winning endorsement).

Phyllis waited in the hotel for Nick and ordered up a pitcher of sangria (Mmmm....). Daniel then called her, wondering why some of their things — namely their video game system — were missing from the apartment. Phyll lied that the stuff was at work with her. Meanwhile, Sharon returned home early from her business trip. Later, Nick met up with Phyllis and explained why he stood her up. He called her "amazing" (who is he hanging out with — Tom and Katie?) for being so understanding. Sharon interrupted them, inviting Nick to go out for lunch, as Phyllis sadly looked on.

Lily happily went to Crimson Lights with Devon, and admitted that she hated boarding school. Lily wanted to call Daniel, but Devon didn't think it was a good idea. Soon, Sierra arrived and happily went to say hello to Lily. Sierra gave Devon a college guide to Boston as a birthday gift. Lily was pleased to hear that Colleen is also back home.

Daniel and Colleen chatted over coffee. Daniel asked her for help on his college applications, and as thanks, invited her to go with him to a concert.

After the disastrous Leanna Love interview, Brad and Ashley tried to figure out what to do to diffuse the situation. Brad thought he and Ashley should postpone their divorce.

At home, Gloria tried to get John to relax. John couldn't understand why the D.A. didn't believe that he and not Ashley shot Tom. Later, Ashley filled in her father on the Leanna debacle. Ash worried that not divorcing Brad is unfair to her ex, but John thought it was a good idea. Sharon also told Brad that she thinks he and Ash should stay married for now.

Meawhile, Michael was incredulous that D.A. Will thought that Ashley was running a drug ring with Tom. Michael suggested that Will take up "creative writing" for his ridiculous idea. After, Michael told Lauren about Will's theory. Michael confessed that Ashley had been involved with Tom's arrest, but wouldn't give any details. Lauren pleaded with her husband to tell her truth about what he and Ashley had been up to — and realized that Michael and Ashley had indeed set Tom up. "Michael, you've ruined everything," Lauren told him.

Neil and Drucilla surprised Devon with an 18th birthday party. They presented him with a big gift ... which turned out to be nuLily. Dru and Neil immediately started in with the "No Daniel" lecture. Lily got out of it by reminding them that they should be focusing on Devon. Dru gave Devon a gift sent by Yolanda. He feared that Dru and Neil would kick him out now that he's 18, but he told them that he'd like to stay and be a part of their family. It was THEN that they gave him their gift — a laptop computer. After, Lily asked to go to Crimson Lights. The 'rents were about to refuse, but agreed to let her out of jail when her "bodyguard" Devon offered to tag along. When they were alone, Lily thanked Devon for giving Daniel her second non-breakup letter. Devon failed to tell her that he, well, didn't actually do it.

John asked Paul to prove that he murdered Tom. Paul wasn't sure John was remembering correctly, but John insisted that Paul do this. Paul reminded John that he could end up in jail, but John didn't want Ashley to take the blame. Paul reluctantly began to help him remember some details of the shooting; John recalled that before Tom fell (after being shot), he stumbled and brushed against John.

At the GCAC, Brad and Victoria told Ashley about their engagement. Ash seemed genuinely happy for the couple. (Speaking of Vikki, she — and portrayer Amelia Heinle looks great with shorter, blonder hair.) Victoria left, and the ex-couple began discussing Ashley's impending trial. Brad told her that she needs to hope for a sympathetic jury. After Brad stepped away, Leanna Love (Hi, Leanna!) came over to get the dish, and asked Ash for an interview. Leanna told her that this would be Ashley's chance to air her side of the story. Ash agreed and they began filming. Ashley relayed how she and Tom had been friends at first, but he became obsessed with her. Leanna was sympathetic, especially when Ashley went on about how she was trying to protect Abby and her family. When Brad returned, he was annoyed that Leanna was bugging Ashley. In turn, Leanna suggested that he was divorcing Ashley because he believes she's guilty.

Sharon geared up for a spokesmodel business trip. Nicholas noted that she seems happy with her job. Sharon stated that Nick seems happier, too (though he didn't share why in his case).

Phyllis and Victor talked about his involvement in the spa project. Phyllis feared that with Victor on board, she'd become a fifth wheel, but he promised that she wouldn't. "Damn it, Victor, why couldn't you have just taken up golf?" she sighed. Later, Phyllis complained to Nick about how Victor wants to work with her and Nikki. Nick cheered her up by suggesting they "meet up" somewhere.

Victor filled in Victoria on his plans to work with the spas. Vikki told him how she and Brad are going public with their engagement. He argued that it's too soon and that they should wait until Ashley's trial is over. Victor continued to bug her and she pleaded with him to be happy for her. (Note: Considering that Victoria has a history of just running off and eloping, Victor should know by now that trying to tell his daughter what to do is the wrong tactic to use if he wants something.)

Lauren and Michael discussed the Tom murder case. Lauren was angry that Michael's scheming against Tom had led to Ashley's arrest, and that he'd set Tom up. Later, Michael met with D.A. Will to rub in his face how Lauren was going to testify how Tom had kidnapped her. "Murder is still murder," Will shrugged. Will revealed that Ashley's fingerprints were found at the scene of the crime and that he believes Ash and Tom were running a drug ring.

J.T. came home to find Mackenzie dressed as ... well, how does one describe this travesty? She had on a blonde pigtailed wig, a red and white checked shirt (tied at the bottom to show off her tummy) and itty-bitty denim shorts. Picture Jessica Simpson's Daisy Duke-meets-Maryann-meets-Elly May Clampett. Anyway, MacJessMaryMay turned around and jiggled her, uh, assets at her man. J.T. obliged her with a lukewarm "Yee-haw!" (C'mon, J.T., you can do better than that. After all, you were Mr. Cowboy in Madonna's "Don't Tell Me" video.) J.T. stated that he felt as if he'd be cheating on Mac if he slept with her while she donned the costume. "It doesn't matter because I'll still be the one underneath," she replied. Well, now!

Phyllis and Nicholas were starting to get it on when Sharon went back inside to get her keys. But when she arrived, she found Phyllis typing feverishly on her computer. Once she left, Nick emerged from the closet (no, not in that way — we're talking the literal closet here) and rejoined Phyllis. The lovers decided they should call it a day, but not before sharing a good-bye kiss.

Nick returned home to Sexy Sharon (wearing a lime green slip dress and sporting big, big hair). Sharon kind of (unwittingly) ruined the mood by mentioning that she likes Phyllis. Nick got past it and enjoyed a romantic dinner with his wife. He then even offered to do the dishes (and leave fewer for Miguel). (C'mon, Nick, just give Miguel the entire night off.)

Lauren and Paul discussed Michael and Ashley's plot against Tom. Lauren demanded that Paul tell her exactly what her husband had been up to. Paul warned Lauren that Will Bardwell is a tough D.A. for Michael to be up against.

At the GCAC, Daniel and Colleen chatted about him being "dumped" by Lily. Colleen was surprised that Daniel would give up so easily. Later, Jack came to the GCAC and was surprised and happy to see Colleen. Jack promised her that John would be okay. Colleen blamed their family's problems on the Fishers.

Phyllis came home to an empty house (Daniel was out) and sadly sat alone on her sofa. She decided to ease her loneliness by playing an online sports game (though with the way Y&R was cranking out the violins on the soundtrack, you'd think she was going online to sell an organ or something). Later, Daniel returned and encouraged his mom to make up with Jack. Phyllis stated that she can't exactly be romantic with a man who filed an injunction against her. After, they had dinner together and talked about Colleen. Phyll told him that Colleen is lucky to have a friend like Daniel. Daniel worried about his mom being alone, but she said she's fine. Nick then called and asked if he could see Phyllis at the hotel.

The Abbotts, John and Michael met to talk about the Tom case, and how even though John confessed to the murder, the charges still weren't dropped against Ashley. Michael told John not to confess to anyone without consulting him. John told his family that he feels he has to do what's right. Gloria tended to John, who hadn't yet left the hospital. Outside, Ashley declared that her father was a "time bomb." Michael promised Ashley he'd give her the best defense available. In John's room, Glo urged John to let Ashley take the rap because Ash would have an easier time getting off. John regretted killing a man. "If you ask me, you did the world a favor," replied Glo. Later, John asked Paul to prove that he killed Tom.
