Y&R Recaps Week of Feb. 27, 2006
Friday, March 3, 2006
As Drucilla and Phyllis's argument became as loud as Phyllis's bright, blue dress, an eavesdropping Lily heard Phyllis's comment that Malcolm — not Neil — is the teen's biological dad. After ordering Dru not to make trouble for Daniel, Phyllis exited and was aghast to see Lily in the hall. The teen didn't let on that she'd heard the row. Afterward, a teary Lily ran to Daniel and sobbed that she hates her mom and will make her pay.
J.T. reeled from the news of Mackenzie's miscarriage and said he was sorry she had to go through it alone. He was taken aback when Mac reported that Kevin had been with her. J.T. chewed Mac out for not telling him about the pregnancy sooner. She apologized and said she should have listened to Kevin and her grandmother. Uh-oh, poor choice of words. J.T. hit the roof when he found out that Fisher knew about the baby before he did. When Kevin arrived, J.T. laid into him, said Fisher could have Mac and stormed out. Kevin assured Mac that J.T. was just blowing off steam and would get over it.
Sharon set up a romantic dinner for herself and Nicholas, which was interrupted by Victoria, who had stopped by to see Noah. After Sharon headed off to the GCAC to get peach cobbler for her son, Nick stepped away to answer the phone. It was Phyllis calling to check on Noah. A tight-lipped Nick made it clear that it wasn't a good time to talk. Afterward, he comforted his sister over her broken engagement to Brad. Back at the GCAC, Sharon comforted Brad. Victoria and J.T. both ended up at the club, too, and did shots together. They went back to Victoria's place and made out.
Dru complained to Neil about Phyllis, while Phyllis told Jack about her confrontation with Dru. The redhead voiced her fears that Lily had overheard. Jack offered support and told Phyllis he needed her in his life. They shared a long kiss and she lead him upstairs. Meanwhile, Nick picked up his cell phone and fought the urge to call Phyllis. Later on, with Jack still upstairs, a robed Phyllis descended to the living room and cried by herself.
Dru arrived home and Lily said she wanted to talk about her father: her "real" father, Malcolm. A bitter argument ensued until Neil came in and demanded to know what was going on.

At the Newmans, Sharon and Nicholas — both wearing pink — fixed lunch for Noah. Nick made his specialty, "Daddy sandwiches," which he described as "big and messy." Aww. Sharon and Nick began to kiss, while Noah looked on, the grin spreading across his face. Um, ew. Won't that scar the poor kid? Nick then told his family that he'd booked a trip to Paris for them. Later, Sharon suggested they go riding, but her mention of the stables made Nick think of Phyllis.
Phyllis tried to comfort Jack about John going to prison. She even offered to visit John in jail with him. "I've been to jail before, remember?" she cracked. Phyll suggested he try to forget his problems and pointed out that if they hopped on a plane, they could be somewhere exotic by that evening and could start a new life. She even suggested that in this new place, they pretend they're Swedes, "Ingrid" and "Bjorn." Phyll got serious as she offered to help him; he invited her over for a drink.
After miscarrying, Mackenzie tried to relax. She snapped at a concerned J.T. when he suggested she see a doctor. After, the doctor's office called for Mac and J.T. picked up. He asked Mac why she'd been to a doctor, but she lied that she had the flu. J.T. wouldn't buy it, noting that she'd visited an OB-GYN. Mac finally confessed that she'd miscarried his baby.
Daniel e-mailed Lily (and had the annoying habit of reading everything he writes out loud).... Dru told Devon and Neil how Daniel was "stalking" Lily and how she'd threatened him with a restraining order. Lily feigned praise for her mom, but panicked a bit when Neil suggested he speak with the high school to make sure Daniel stays away from her. Dru agreed that Lily should have some space; Lily promised not to let them down.... At the gym, Neil asked Nick to talk to Daniel regarding Lily. Nick said that it wasn't his business. Neil argued that Nick might have reacted differently if he'd known Cassie liked Daniel, but Nick urged Neil to focus on Lily.
Gloria told Jack that she called the prison and John is surviving. Jack insisted she get out of his sight, but she refused. Glo stated that it was Ashley's fault John was sent away; Jack threatened to make her life "uncomfortable." Gloria then warned him not to cross her — and revealed that John had given her his proxy at Jabot. Jack was horrified. "I'm an Abbott now and that proxy cements my place in the family and the company ... whether you like it or not," she sniffed. Jack reminded her that Chancellor Industries, which he runs, owns 51 percent of Jabot. Glo hinted that if she teams up with "other people," she'll get what she wants. "What are you gonna do, form an alliance and vote me off the island?" he wondered. Nice cross-promotion of SURVIVOR, CBS. "Ooh, I'm scared," Jack taunted. "You couldn't handle Tom Fisher, what makes you think you can handle me?"
Daniel informed Phyllis that Noah's doing well and Sharon had invited them to dinner in the near future. Phyllis told her son that she's proud of him for being so mature and responsible about his and Lily's break-up. "It's shocking that you're my son," she said. A guilty Daniel revealed that he and Lily are still together. Phyll was surprised, but supportive. However, she was furious when he told her that Dru tried to get him arrested. Later, Daniel informed Lily that Phyllis knows about them, but is going to keep their secret. Lily agreed that she's getting tired of sneaking around. Meanwhile, Phyllis paid Dru a visit and reamed her out for the way Dru's treated Daniel. After snarking on each other's kids for a few moments, Phyll threatened to tell Lily about Malcolm being Lily's biological father ... which Lily overheard. Dun Dun DUN!

At the hospital, Sharon wondered what Nicholas had been planning to say to her. Nick told her to forget it. Sharon was surprised to see Phyllis there. After, the Newmans went to visit with Noah. Later, Phyllis told Nick that Noah needs him and Sharon. "This is over, isn't it?" she asked tentatively. Nick agreed. "It'll be a good memory," Phyllis sighed, trying not to show how upset she really was.
Jill stopped by the Abbotts to bid John farewell. Jill was surprised to see J.T. there with Colleen. Colleen was touched that J.T. had come.
Gloria and Jack continued to argue. "Your father loves me. I have made him a very happy man," she explained. "Oh, so he was being romantic when he shot Tom Fisher?," Jack replied. Jack accused Glo of being upset that her "livelihood" was being sent off to prison. Gloria argued that Jack's the one who's obsessed with money, and that she really loves John.
Abby admitted to Ashley that she's scared for her grandfather.... Jill promised to visit John. "You're an amazing man and you're gonna make it through this. I have absolute faith in you," she told him, choking back tears. John then went to join the family. Abby gave him a present, which John was thankful for. After Abby left, he struggled to keep from breaking down. Traci joined the gang, and they all thought back to happy times spent with John &mdash even those times when Traci and Ashley were sporting huge '80s hair. Gloria tried to keep the mood upbeat by offering everyone food. Jack thought she was pushing too hard. Victor soon arrived and spoke with John privately. He suggested that John "take care" of Gloria to protect her from Jack and Ashley. In the living room, the Abbott kids agreed that they all feel helpless. Later, Gloria and John spent a moment alone. John then bravely prepared to head to jail, but not before telling his family how much he loves them.
Dru and Neil celebrated the fact that Lily was no longer with Daniel. They were also happy with the idea of Lily and Devon both going away to college soon so they can get some time to themselves. Lily, however, was busy kissing Daniel behind their backs. Lily came home and told her mom she's going skating with her "friends." Daniel then knocked on the door, not realizing that Dru was home. Lily played dumb, while Dru, of course, freaked out and threatened to call the cops. Lily told her not to call the police because it would just help Daniel in his bid to "get attention." "You don't stop harassing my daughter, I will put a restraining order on your butt!" Dru railed. After, Dru warned Lily that she could be sent back to boarding school.
Mackenzie doubled over with abdominal pains. A concerned Kevin took her to the hospital, where Mac feared that something bad would happen to her unborn child. Just as the doctor arrived to speak with her, Mac began to have cramps again. Sadly, she miscarried her baby. "This is nature's way of telling you to try again," explained Dr. Sensitive. Kevin was aghast that J.T. wasn't there, but she reminded him that J.T. didn't even know about it. Mac began sobbing in Kevin's arms.
While dining out, Brad announced to everyone there that he's in love with Victoria (I'm sure the other patrons just loved this). He then got down on one knee and proposed to her, but Victoria turned him down.

Phyllis met up with Michael at Gina's. She paused for a moment to think about her affair with Nicholas. Michael caught on to the fact that something was going on with her. "I know that look. What are you up to now?" he asked. Phyllis stated that she's not "up to" anything. Michael shared the news about John getting seven years; Phyll told him that it wasn't his fault. She wanted to go comfort Jack, but Michael warned her against it; Phyllis agreed to wait for Jack to call her.
Nick began the old, "It's not you, it's me," speech with Sharon, as he prepared to tell her the truth about his affair. They were interrupted by a call from Daniel reporting that Noah had been injured in a basketball game. Soon, the worried parents met with Daniel, who assured them that the paramedics took care of Noah as soon as he'd gotten hurt. At the hospital, the doctor told them that Noah had a concussion.... Daniel filled in his mom about Noah.... Nick and Sharon visited Noah, and once again, they were a family. Nick even put his arm around his wife to comfort her. Phyllis then arrived, looking hurt as she spied the Newmans together.
Neil took Lily shopping for school clothes and played the "embarrassing dad" card well by trying on one of her hats. He then pulled the "strict dad" card by nixing a low-cut, strappy top. "Everyone's wearing it," Lily whined. "You're going to school, not starring in a music video," he retorted. Lily didn't take it too hard; she was just happy to be spending the day with Dad. Neil ended their day out when he had to take care of a business call. Lily made a beeline for Daniel, suggesting that they go someplace a little more private.
Mackenzie informed Katherine that she's pregnant with J.T.'s child. Kay thought she should tell him as soon as possible.... Kevin informed J.T. that John was sentenced to seven years in prison. J.T. worried about how Colleen was taking the news. Kevin suggested J.T. come with him, but J.T. didn't feel right intruding on a family problem. Later, J.T. came home and offered to spend the evening in with Mac. He even agreed to watch a — gasp! — chick-flick.
Gloria, Jack and Ashley urged John to flee the country. John refused, despite Glo's promise that they'd share an "adventure." "I'm sorry, I can't do this," John explained. "I took a life. I killed somebody." Tom was a criminal, argued Gloria. "That does not change what I did," John replied, as he prepared to accept his fate. John asked Colleen to help him take care of some last-minute things. After they left, Gloria blamed Jack and Ashley for ruining John's last bid for freedom by not including her in the plan. Jack told Glo to leave before he said something he'd regret; Gloria huffed away. "I am tempted to throw her out on her ear right now!" he railed to Ash. Later, Gloria spent some time with John. He broke down as he took her in his arms. Meanwhile, Kevin stopped by to see the family, though Jack couldn't understand why he was there. John then asked Jack to look after some documents for him, including his will. Father and son shared a moment as John told Jack how proud he is of him. "Don't you ever forget your old man," Jack said. John went back downstairs and asked Kevin to keep him informed of the goings-on in the Abbott household. "You're the only person I trust with your mother," he explained. Kay then stopped by to wish John farewell. After, John and Ashley spent some time together. Ash began to cry as she imagined life without her dad around.... Gloria asked Jack for a truce, but he refused.... Kevin returned home and told J.T. that Colleen's very upset. When J.T. left to see her, Mac reamed out Kev for making her beau go. She then doubled over with stomach pains.

At the courtroom, a bewildered John tried to process the fact that he'd just been sentenced to seven years in prison for shooting Tom. Gloria didn't help matters by breaking down. Victor took a better approach by assuring John that he's strong. John then promised the Abbotts that "[They'd] survive this as a family." Glo only became more hysterical. After John left to share a moment alone with Colleen, Jack blasted Michael for blowing John's case. Ashley couldn't believe that Michael didn't have any other options. "We have to do it," Ash cryptically told her brother. "We have to put Plan B into motion." Later, Michael apologized to Lauren, but she reminded him that it wasn't his fault. "Tell that to the angry villagers with the pitchforks," he sighed.... Jack got a mysterious phone call, then told Ashley that Plan B was officially in motion.... Victor told Nikki the news; Nikki was upset for Jack and Ashley. Victor wondered what Ash had meant when she'd suggested that Victor could help John. Nikki advised him to stay out of it... Colleen worried about John's state of mind.... Gloria complained to John that his kids dislike her. John insisted that they think of her as family.... Ashley made arrangements for John to leave the country (which was what Plan B turned out to be), but John wouldn't hear of it. "Daddy, do you want a life?' Ash pleaded. "Do you realize this is a crime?" John argued.
Daniel expressed his concern regarding the Abbotts to Lily, but didn't really have time to be unhappy, as he was thrilled to be with her. He touched Lily. She backed away and told him to get his hands off of her. Turns out, Devon had arrived and Lily didn't want him to see her with Daniel. Devon tried to rough Daniel up, but Lily stopped him and Daniel left. Drucilla and Neil then showed up, vowing to make Daniel "afraid." Later, Lily thanked Devon for being so protective of her. She told Neil that she wished Devon and Dru would let her take care of herself. Neil suggested that Lily spend time with Devon, but she was squicked out at the idea of getting too close to her foster brother. Dru, meanwhile, paid Daniel a visit and warned him to quit "stalking" her daughter.
Nikki couldn't understand why Sharon was cooking for Nicholas on her and Nick's anniversary. Sharon began to rant to Nikki how she doesn't take her marriage for granted, but Nikki sweetly cut her off and offered to take Noah for the evening. After, a guilty Nick slumped into his home, doing his best to get the scent of Phyllis off of him. "Is there something on your mind?" Sharon asked, sensing his grave mood. "Can we sit down?" he suggested. Uh-oh, when you're asked to sit, it's almost never good news. Sharon apologized for finding Nick's very cool anniversary gift — a hybrid SUV — to her, and gushed about the car's merits. She reminisced about his first surprise gift to her, still not really catching on to the fact that as she babbled on, her husband was giving her monosyllabic answers to everything. As Sharon set the table, Nick wondered to himself why he keeps cheating on Sharon. "It isn't you," he told her in his mind, "it's me." Nick told Sharon — aloud — that he knows he's a lucky man for having spent 10 years with her. "There's something wrong with me," he began. "Something missing..." "What do you mean?" Sharon tearfully asked. Nick then admitted that he needs some time apart from her. "Is there another woman?" Sharon choked out. And ... that turned out to be Nick's fantasy break-up with Sharon. Nick then sat down and began to break things off with his wife for real.
