Y&R Recaps Week of June 19, 2006

Friday, June 23, 2006
Phyllis explained to Victor that she needs Nikki to help her with NVP, but Victor insisted that his wife cut back her hours. Newman was confident that Jack and Phyllis would work well together. Phyllis wanted to discuss it further, but Jack was eager to get Victor alone so they could hammer out the NVP deal. Jack again reminded Victor that Nikki isn't to know yet about Jack buying the company shares.

Phyllis was surprised and touched when Michael surprised her at work with a certain beverage, fit for a pregnant woman. Michael was confused when Victor stopped by with a cheerful greeting. After, Phyllis told Michael that she suspects Jack is keeping something from her. The talk turned to her pregnancy; Baldwin urged her to take the paternity test ASAP so she could stop trying to hide her pregnancy. "Gosh, Michael, you make getting a paternity test seem like a walk in the park," she snarked. He noted that all she needed to get were some strands of hair from each guy. Michael was confident that she'd get through her pregnancy; she fretted that she's all alone. "That's not true," he said firmly, "You have me, you have Lauren and you have Daniel."

Colleen was eager to find out why her father changed his identity to "Brad Carlton." She suggested just asking Brad what the deal was, but J.T. was against it. Coll believed that her dad had a good reason for keeping the truth, but J.T. didn't agree. She was anxious to get to the bottom of things, but he was willing to take his sweet time "investigating." J.T. shared that he'd left a message for a priest who might know something about "Brad". Only after speaking with his girlfriend, did it occur to J.T. to try calling again (maybe Colleen should take over as P.I.?).... Brad informed Nick that someone had dug around his computer files at Newman. Later, J.T. and Colleen paid Brad a visit at work. Brad filled them in on his messed-up files; J.T. agreed to see if he could find out anything. While he worked, Colleen tried to act cool around her dad, but failed miserably. Brad chalked it up to her still being upset over him marrying Victoria.

Nikki stared, perplexed, at Victor's snowflake collection. Soon, he came to his office and found her holding them. "Why do you have these?" she whispered. Victor lied that he helped Noah make them for a project. Nikki was aghast that he'd spent "several hours" working on them. "What's wrong with that?" Vic asked, pouting like a little kid when she reminded him that she had to get ready for her business trip. She agreed to see what she could do to get out of it. After, Jack convinced Nikki to go on the trip. Victor was upset, especially when she revealed that she'd be gone for three days.... Phyllis's suspicions about Jack were aroused again when she caught him speaking quietly with Michael. He refused to tell her anything and their discussion turned into an argument. After, Nikki suggested Phyll go on the business trip instead so she could take a break from Jack.... Nick also planned to go to Arizona on business instead of Brad.... Nick invited Sharon out to dinner. Sharon hesitated for a moment, but then accepted. Nick asked Sharon to go with him to Arizona, but she turned him down.... Jack and Victor signed the contract stating that Jack would buy out Victor at NVP.... Nikki informed Sharon that Phyllis was going to Arizona in her place. Sharon's face fell as she realized this would mean Nick was going with her. Meanwhile, Nick's face brightened as he saw Phyllis seated on the plane.

Phyllis continued to be puzzled by Victor and Jack's newfound relationship, and continued to complain to Nikki about it. "You're not the only one who used to be married to Jack so you need to start thinking of him as an employer and not the devil incarnate," snapped a fed-up Nikki. Meanwhile, Jack was stunned by Vic's offer to sell Jack his NVP shares. As Jack spoke, Victor again blanked out for a moment. Jack convinced Victor to not say anything to Nikki yet, then called Michael so he could put together a contract ASAP.

Victoria, donning an odd lacy blouse with cut-outs, gushed to Brad about how much fun it had been playing charades with Nicholas and Sharon. Both were glad that Nick and Sharon seemed to be getting along. Back at the Newmans, however, Sharon told Nick not to get the wrong idea, that she still needs time. Later, Sharon told Brad how she and Nick have been trying to work things out for Noah's sake.... Victoria told Nick that she's pulling for him and Sharon.

Daniel called for Lily and demanded that Devon put her on the phone. Dev snapped that she's involved in another activity. Phyllis came home during the tail-end of the conversation and told him the "golden rule" — to never go to bed angry. Daniel explained that it was too late for that since he and Lily spent the night apart.... Neil urged Lily to work things out with Daniel and reminded her that when she's married, her decisions will affect her spouse. Neil pointed out that she's making the argument all Daniel's fault. Phyllis, meanwhile, told Daniel that it sounds as if he's ordering Lily around. Later, Neil urged his son-in-law to make the first move toward reconciliation. He went to see Lily and they soon made up.

Victoria visited Nikki and questioned why Jack was running a company that's supposed to be Phyllis and Nikki's. Vicky suspected that Jack has a hidden agenda, and advised her mother to keep an eye on him. After, Nikki questioned Victor about how well Jack's doing. Vic had nothing but praise for his latest hire. He then stated that he's sick of everyone constantly talking about money.... Phyllis extended an olive branch to Jack by asking for his advice on a project. After, she showed some of her work to Nick.... Victor urged Nikki to leave work so she could be with him. Nikki agreed to spend less time at work, to Phyllis's chagrin. Victor was confident that Phyllis and Jack will make a great team.... Nikki searched for a paper in Victor's office — and came across his secret stash of snowflakes. And cue the creepy music....

Sharon gave Nicholas a blank photo album. Noah was anxious to fill it with pictures and ran to get the camera.... After almost choking to death on Brad's cooking, Victoria again tried to get him to discuss his family by offering to send them wedding photos. Abby interrupted them by suggesting they play charades. Vicky was shocked that Brad had never played this particular game before. Soon, Victoria and Brad (or should that be "Brad" from now on?) invited Nick and Sharon to participate in the fun. And it was time for everyone to make fools of themselves as the game got started. Sharon got a little too excited as she mimed out her phrase (a movie). Later, Sharon overheard Abby tell Noah not to get his hopes up about Nick and Sharon staying together. Noah then acted out by being all sulky and defiant. Sharon relayed to Nick what the kids had been discussing. Sharon blamed herself for Noah's mistrust of them, but Nick said that they're both responsible. She admitted that she's having a difficult time letting go of her anger. Nick said he's willing to do whatever it takes to repair their relationship, then kissed her.... Brad told Victoria that he's grateful to be starting a life with her.

Colleen was shocked to learn about the real Brad Carlton. She admitted that she knows everything about her father's life after he came to Genoa City, but nothing from before. Which leads one to wonder why a 20-something Colleen is just starting to wonder about her own family tree. Coll concluded that Brad might be in the Witness Protection Program, but J.T. shot down that theory. She freaked out, wondering who her dad really is and what her real name is. J.T. then showed her a picture of the Brad's old baseball team. "This is Brad Carlton," he said, pointing to Blonde Mullet Head in the first row. "And this is your father," he finished, pointing to a sour-faced "Brad" in the upper left-hand corner. It should be noted, by the way, that one could very obviously tell that a a cut-out of Don Diamont's ("Brad") head was simply placed on some baseball player's body in order to create the shot. Anyway, J.T. wasn't very sympathetic to his girlfriend's feelings and was more concerned about her blabbing to her dad. Later, they made amends at the coffeehouse, but Colleen insisted on helping him with his investigation.

At Newman, Neil thanked Daniel for his Father's Day meal and offered to pay him back. Daniel refused, but Neil said to let him know if he and Lily ever need anything. "I'll keep that in mind when you're ready to get rid of that jet," Daniel joked. After, Daniel went to Crimson Lights and offered to buy Lily a mocha. She turned him down, noting that they can't afford it. That's when she dropped the bomb: she's not going to college in the fall — she's becoming a designer. Daniel was left rather speechless at this news. Lily backed up her plan by noting that she'd received many compliments on the earrings she had on, which she'd made herself. She was furious when her husband wouldn't back her up. Later, Phyllis ran into her upset son, but he wasn't anxious to talk. Meanwhile, Lily asked Neil if she could stay there for the night. Neil was confident that the newlyweds would work things out.

Phyllis again complained about Jack to Nikki, believing that her ex-husband (make that their ex-husband) wants them to fail. Phyll begged Nikki to not leave her alone with Jack.... Victor thanked Jack for helping him distract Nikki while Victor was disoriented. "We've come a long way," Vic chirped to his "former" rival. "Yes, we have," Jack smugly replied, adding that NVP has a lot of "possibilities." Abbott complained that not having an equity share in the company is making things difficult. "Relax!" Victor cheerfully advised, quoting the great Frankie Goes To Hollywood. After, Phyllis talked Victor's ear off as she went on about Jack. Vic tuned her out — literally — as he was overcome with a loud, buzzing sound. When he was alone, Victor took out his special snowflakes and lovingly stroked them. Later, Victor shocked Jack by offering him his shares of NVP! Wow — let the games begin!

Jill interviewed Kevin for the Jabot Web site job. She was genuinely impressed with his ideas. After, Jill met up with her Internet date — Will Bardwell! She and Will quickly bonded as they both admitted to having been nervous about going online in the first place. Will asked Jill out again, but she said she needed to think about it.... At Crimson Lights, Brad and Victoria were awed by Jana's knowledge of art.... Kevin told Jana that he thinks he impressed Jill.

Phyllis freaked out when Jack informed her that they only had a week to get the Web site up and running. Jack argued that it was in the company's best interest.... Victor brought Zapato the dog to work and introduced the puppy to Jack. "Then Zapato is our new head of human resources?" Jack queried. Meanwhile, Phyllis complained to Nikki about the amount of work Jack is making her do. Nikki reminded her that Victor has the final word. Both Victor and Jack, however, were too busy playing with the dog to be concerned with such things. Soon, Nikki came upon the bizarre scene and wondered what was going on. "Two grown men in suits sitting on the floor playing with a puppy," she laughed. Jack said that playing with a pet increases productivity. After Phyllis was introduced to Victor's new friend, Vic told Nikki that he had a "surprise" for her. Said surprise turned out to be salsa lessons! Next stop, DANCING WITH THE STARS. During the lesson, Victor became disoriented when Nikki stepped away. He implored the instructor to not tell Nikki.... Phyllis and Jack continued to bicker at work. He admitted to losing respect for her after learning of her affair with Nick... Later, Victor called Jack and confided in him about his memory lapse. Jack helped out Vic by calling Nikki and requesting that she return to the office. Jack then apologized to Phyllis for what he'd said earlier.

Colleen thought about her conversation with Brad and how her dad had been so evasive about sharing information on his family. She confided in J.T. how upset and confused she is, but he still refused to share what he'd found on Brad. J.T. revealed that the story Brad had told about his parents was true, but wouldn't say any more. "Your old man already hates me!" he whined, then complained that he can't trust Colleen to not spy. Coll was concerned that J.T. is pulling away from her and that he'd found "something terrible" on her father. J.T. assured her that he wasn't using her to get info on Carlton. J.T. finally relented and showed her the pic of the real blond mullet-having Brad Carlton.

Kevin and Gloria celebrated him dumping Terrible Tom's ashes down the drain. Glo informed Kevin that Jill is considering hiring him to work on Jabot's computers. Kevin was thrilled — though one has to wonder how he intends to run a business which he OWNS and have this second job.

At Newman, Jack and Phyllis bickered. "There's no J in NVP," she snarked. Jack retorted that she should be glad she has someone with experience helping out. Phyllis warned that if he keeps treating her badly, she'll grow to hate him. After, Phyllis complained to Ashley about Jack, but Ash took Jack's side.... Kevin asked Phyllis for advice on getting the Jabot job. Phyllis agreed to back him as a means of sticking it to Ashley. She encouraged Jill to hire him.

Colleen visited John in jail and wondered how he could get used to being there. He said that family visits help. Gloria also stopped by and told her husband that he's still the heart and soul of his family. Glo suggested that Kevin run the Jabot Web site, but John wasn't so sure. John agreed to think about speaking with someone regarding the matter. Later, Jack saw his dad and gave John a journal. John couldn't understand Jack's decision to work for Victor. "It was an opportunity I couldn't afford to pass up," Jack explained. John wondered how it is working with Phyllis, and Jack admitted that it's hard. John pointed out that Jack is partially responsible for his and Phyll's problems.... Jill gave Ashley a letter from Billy for John.... Later, Ashley visited John. He urged her to consider hiring Kevin. When Ashley came home, Gloria bugged her about giving Kevin the job — and tried to guilt-trip her by stating that John wanted it. Ashley debated the idea with Jack and admitted that she's considering it.... Gloria looked forward to both her and Kevin working at Jabot.

Abby asked Brad and Victoria for a puppy like Victor's. Soon, Colleen stopped by and exchanged and a luke-warm greeting with her new stepmom. Vicky took the high road and got Abby out of the room so Brad and Coll could talk. She and her dad made amends. Brad reminisced about the time he first took Colleen bike riding. She wondered why he never tells her stories about his childhood. Brad balked when she suggested making a family tree. He said that his parents were immigrants who chose to reinvent themselves, and are dead. Victoria then came downstairs and said that she thought his folks are alive. Oops! Brad amended his story by saying that his mother died when he was a child and his father was an alcoholic. Meanwhile, a careless J.T. continued to investigate Brad — using one of the computers at Newman. Phyllis soon caught him in the act. J.T. lied that he was checking on an alarm. Phyllis didn't really seem to believe him, but he played it cool.

Jill told Katherine that she's joined an Internet dating service. "It's not like I signed up to be a mail-order bride," she assured her worried mom, reminding Kay that she had considered doing the same thing. Jill happily reported that "several gentlemen" had responded to her ad and she's going to be meeting one for coffee.
