Y&R Recaps Week of July 17, 2006

Carmen got her place ready for Neil's "visit" and put some sexy jazz on for effect. Meanwhile, he was shocked to find a fedora-wearing Drucilla back from her European vacation. Dru was happy to see him and was all huggy and affectionate; Neil wasn't quite as warm. Both agreed that the break was good for them and made some small talk about Lily and Devon. Dru then gushed about her trip, calling Prague, "the bomb." Neil bristled when she noted that he took out the telescope she'd given him. When Dru stepped away, he started to leave Carmen a message, but then Dru returned to the room. Soon, Devin came home and was thrilled to see Dru. As he kept her occupied with the details of his summer internship, Neil called Carmen and told her that he'll be late. Dru was surprised when Devon shared how relaxed Neil's been lately. When Neil finally stopped by Carmen's, he revealed that his wife has come home. Carmen encouraged him to go home to Dru, but not before reminding him that he'd once said his marriage was rocky. She then opined that Neil deserves to be happy (meaning with her, of course). Once he left, a sad Carmen turned off the lights and moped. Later, Neil came back home and found Dru looking through the telescope. He tried to get into looking at the stars with her, but his blank expression indicated that it just wasn't as much fun as it had been with Carmen.

Victoria wondered where Brad was. Nicholas soon came up to the office, still shocked from catching Sharon and Brad making out. Vicky asked how he's doing. "Don't ask, you don't even want to know," he spit. Victoria demanded that he tell her why he's been acting so strangely and wanted to know if he's the father of Phyllis's baby. He confirmed this. "Does Sharon know?" she asked. "I'm afraid she does," he replied.

Nick then told Michael that he's the father. They played b-ball together (wow, Y&R is really getting good use out of this set lately) and discussed how Phyllis wants to raise the kid herself. "Phyllis is a grown woman," Michael reminded him. Nick regretted ever hooking up with her. "No argument from me," Baldwin retorted. Michael didn't think Phyllis really wanted Nick to stay out of the baby's lives. "I've heard a lot of things about you, but not that you're a bad father," he offered. He then admitted to Nick how nervous he is about becoming a dad himself, given his past.

Meanwhile, in the Car O'Passion, Brad and Sharon continued to go at it — though they might want to rent Titanic to see how steaming up the car windows is really done. Sharon put the breaks on their liaison by confessing that she'd just seen Nick, well, staring in at them. Brad deduced that the baby is Nick's, given the way she's behaving. He was surprised when she told him that Nick wants to stay with her and Noah. She explained that she's sick of being dragged along on Nick's "roller coaster ride." She wished she and Brad could be together, but realized that would hurt Victoria, Colleen and Abby, as well as Noah. Later, Brad and Victoria met up in the office, where she barraged him with questions about their upcoming dinner plans. Brad tried to hide his guilt as they spoke. He then opened up that mysterious briefcase and, whoa — lots of cash was inside!

Sharon and Noah worked on a dinosaur puzzle together at home.... Nick came by and told Victoria that "[they] need to talk." Alone. "I'm actually really sorry," he began. "What is it you can't tell me in front of Brad?" she asked. Brad showed up just as Nick was about to spill the beans.

Brad made some calls to track down Paul and J.T.'s whereabouts. He was then met by a woman named Kim, who handed him a mysterious briefcase. After, Brad bossed Neil around. Neil told Victoria that he thinks Brad needs a break. Vicky agreed and suggested to her hubby that they go somewhere together.

Carmen joined Neil on the basketball court and gave him the best gift of all: chocolate. Then she played b-ball with him — in her little, clingy dress! Neil gave her some pointers, the first being to take off her pumps (duh). Ms. Mesta then gave in to her feelings and kissed him; he was surprised, but quickly responded. "That was better than chocolate," she sighed, when they pulled apart. She asked him over. Neil agreed to come by after he goes home and takes a shower. He was surprised to see Dru, back from Europe.

Kevin told Daniel the bad news, that Alex wants more cash. Sure enough, Al called, complaining that $10,000 isn't enough to even purchase a certain item he wants. He then demanded $25,000. Kevin finally told Gloria the truth about Alex blackmailing him; she freaked out, reminding him how Terrible Tom kept asking for more money when he'd blackmailed her. Glo believed that Alex is Daniel's problem, but Kevin pointed out that if Lily tells her parents, he could lose his job at Jabot and he could even go to jail. This set Gloria off. "Let's give that punk what he wants," she seethed, insisting that they could bring down Alex without giving him more cash.

Phyllis informed Jack that Nick's the father of her baby, but is staying with Sharon. This didn't make Jack act any warmer toward her. Phyllis was sure that the Newmans would work things out, but Jack told her that he doesn't think Nick will stay away after the baby's born. "And what about me?" he asked. "I'm sorry Jack," Phyllis said softly. "I can't ask you for anything ... I'm so sorry about this." "I really don't want your opinion," he said, reminding her of how much it had hurt when they lost their child. "I kept thinking that maybe we could put aside all the ugliness between us and have the life together we dreamed of years ago," he said, tears coming to his eyes. "I can't go forward." "Which leaves us?" she asked. "Which leaves us nowhere," he said quietly. "You're on your own, Phyllis. Good luck." After, she told Daniel that Nick is the father and that he wants to work things out with Sharon — and that she's happy to be raising the child on her own. Daniel promised that he and Lily would be there for her. Later, Phyllis asked what seems to be bothering him, but he insisted that it's "under control." Daniel then told the truth about the Alex scheme to Jack.

Meanwhile, Nick and Sharon discussed the situation. She was hurt that he took off with the results without considering her feelings. "We used to talk about things together," she sighed. "I needed to make this decision alone and I've made it. I want to be with you and Noah," Nick told her. Sharon promised to support him and his relationship with the child. Nick informed her that Phyll doesn't want him involved. "Phyllis is an idiot," Sharon sniffed, unable to believe that Nick wouldn't have a relationship with his child. Sharon pointed out that he doesn't love her and only wants to be with her out of obligation. "There's no way on earth I'd want to be in a marriage like that!" she yelled. "Stay away from me, Nick.".... Phyllis told Nick that it will take time with Sharon... Later, Sharon went to her car and freaked out, screaming, "I HATE NICK!" and banging the steering wheel. Brad saw her breaking down and joined her in the car so he could comfort her. They soon began kissing. Sharon then looked up and saw Nick staring in at them. Gulp!

At the loft, Lily served coffee to a worn-out Colleen. Lily reported that Daniel left early in the morning and that he's been "bolting" a lot lately. Meanwhile, Kevin and Daniel tried to work out their aggression regarding the Alex situation on the b-ball court. Daniel thought they were screwed and wondered how they'd get the $10,000 Al demanded. "We never meant to hurt her," Kevin stated, but Daniel reminded him that that doesn't matter; Lily was almost raped. Later, Kevin asked Gloria for a $10,000 advance. Glo was understandably curious as to what this was for, and refused to give him a check until he 'fessed up. Kevin wouldn't and argued that she "owes" him.

Collen nervously answered the door when her dad stopped by. Brad asked where J.T. is and she told him he's in Cleveland. Her father then gave her a box of stuff that she'd left behind, then asked her some more questions about her beau. He wondered if she'd told J.T. that it's Brad's hometown, but she said she didn't. Brad suggested she tell him to visit a certain attraction the next time she speaks with him. Meanwhile, J.T. and Paul continued to investigate Brad in Cleveland. J.T. called Colleen, but she quickly got him off the phone. She then impulsively gave Brad a hug. Back in Cleveland, Paul warned J.T. that Brad can't learn they are investigating him. Paul then got a call regarding another case and told J.T. to take over for him — because rookies always get to handle really complex assignments on their own. As he examined the photo of Brad's old baseball team, he recalled that the murdered family in Cleveland had been bludgeoned with a baseball bat.... Colleen wanted to tell Brad the truth about the investigation, but Lily urged her not to say anything. The girls then opened up Coll's box o' stuff, which was full of her childhood possessions. Each one reminded her of something sweet Brad's done for her. Colleen then called J.T. and warned him that Brad knows he's in Cleveland, but doesn't know why. J.T. told her not to say anything more to her father. He then met with a woman, Cindy — the neighbor who saw the bodies of the murdered Kaplan family — to get more information. She recalled that the son, George Kaplan, had a terrible temper. J.T. showed her the picture of the baseball team and Cindy confirmed that "Brad" is George.... Colleen ignored J.T. and Lily's warnings and told Brad about the creepy notes she's been getting. "I think it has to do with you," she explained, and revealed that Paul and J.T. are investigating him. Brad replied that he already knows and urged her to trust him.

Daniel and Lily enjoyed some time together. Lily told him about Colleen's problems and warned that this is what happens when people lie... Kevin gave Alex the money, but Al revealed that he has a copy of the tape.

Jack and Sharon tried to plan for the NVP promotional tour, but her mind was elsewhere. She told him that she has no idea where Nicholas is. Meanwhile, Nick came home and told Phyllis that there's no need for Jack to take a paternity test. The results? "I'm the father," Nick said quietly. "The baby's mine." Oh, boy ... or girl. He suggested they go somewhere to talk, so they went into the elevator. She told him that she's happy with the result. Nick replied that he loves her and already loves their baby ... but that he has an obligation to Sharon and Noah. Phyllis held back the tears as she said that she understands. They agreed that the baby is a "beautiful thing." Phyllis then told him that she'd like to raise the child on her own. Nick couldn't even look at her.... Brad informed Sharon that Nick's back and was with Phyllis. Sharon concluded that the baby is his and he wants to be with Phyll. When the elevator doors opened, who should be standing there, but Sharon? Phyllis went to her office so they could be alone. "I want to be your husband," Nick said to Sharon. "I want to be a father to Noah." "It's your baby," Sharon spit.... Phyllis, meanwhile, told Jack that the baby is Nick's. Jack's crushed face said it all. "I wouldn't want to be in your shoes right now," he said to her.

After getting Victor's diagnosis — temporal lobe epilepsy — Victoria fretted about her father's condition. Victor told her not to worry and asked her not to tell Nikki. He promised to tell his wife in "[his] own way." Vicky didn't listen and went right to Nikki with the bad news. Nikki was, of course, devastated to hear that her husband is ill. Vicky showed her the documents the doctor had given her about the condition. After, Nikki broke down in sobs.... Victor went to the GCAC and ran into Jack. He questioned Jack about the paternity of Phyllis's baby, but Abbott reported that they hadn't gotten an answer yet as to who the father is. Victor tried to console his "friend," but Jack didn't want to discuss it. Instead, they went outside, where Jack finally vented. "I'm mad as hell!" he yelled. "I've been taken advantage of and made to look like a fool!" Nikki called for Victor, but he threw his cell phone into the trash. He then told Jack about his disease — and stated that his illness is a "wonderful thing." Victor decided to not take his medication so he could continue to have his visions. Jack agreed that doctors don't always know what's best. Later, Victor came home and Nikki told him she knows about his epilepsy.

Carmen took Neil to see her "crib," which was really the executive suite at the GCAC (what doesn't this place have in it?). She was stuck on the fact that they'd both picked the same tarot card — the two of cups. He showed her his telescope and revealed his interest in astronomy. Carmen blanched a little when he mentioned that Dru had given it to him, but cheered up when he showed her Jupiter. Later, when he went to leave, she embraced him. Neil departed, looking wistful, while Carmen just seemed sad that he was gone.

Alex called Daniel at the coffeehouse and muttered a bunch of crude things about Lily. Daniel panicked, fearing that Al was with her. Daniel tried to find his wife and was relieved when he located her at home. Lily fed Daniel a certain romantic food and feared that he was angry with her for getting involved with the Colleen/J.T. situation behind his back. Daniel cringed as she noted that he'd never lie to her. Meanwhile, Kevin got a surprise visit from Alex at Crimson Lights. Kevin got Jana to leave so he could talk to Alex alone. She was annoyed and insisted that she could handle herself. After, Alex threatened Kev, but Kevin stated that he's not afraid of him. Alex then called Daniel and instructed him to come to the basketball court. Daniel quickly called Kevin to warn him. The three guys met up. Alex blackmailed them and revealed that he'd been taping their conversation.

Victor spoke to a vision of his ex-wife, Hope. Soon, Victoria and Abby returned and were perplexed to find him muttering to himself. Vic lied that he was talking to Zapato, but Victoria didn't really believe him. He suggested that Abby go outside with the dog for a little while and promised to make s'mores when she returns. After, Victoria nudged her dad about his health and he became annoyed. The Hope vision then returned, as well as Abby, who came bearing the ingredients for the s'mores. As Abby cuddled the dog, poor Vic thought he saw a face in the fire and stuck his hand into the flames. Is this Harry Potter? Little Abby noticed and did her best Jamie Lee Curtis impression as she let rip a classic horror movie shriek. Victoria came running, but Victor insisted that he was fine. Vicky wanted to take her father to the doctor, but he refused. He explained that the doctor had given him pills which didn't work. After more pushing from his daughter, Victor gave in and agreed to see someone. At the hospital, the doc explained that Victor probably had a seizure and his symptoms indicate temporal lobe epilepsy. Victor argued that he hasn't felt ill and has been happy. The doctor gave him some new drugs. Vicky then saw the medic in private and he instructed her on how to deal with her father having a seizure.

At Crimson Lights, Jana introduced Kevin to a tarot card reader. He was skeptical, but gave in and took a card. She informed him that something from his past is about to resurface. Uh-oh.... Lily and Colleen looked over the note they found, which read, "He lied to you and he's still lying." Doesn't that pretty much apply to any man in Genoa City? After, Colleen and Lily filled in Daniel on the Brad mystery. Daniel then got a note from someone asking him to go to the coffeehouse. He went to the coffeehouse and showed it to Kevin. They concluded that it was from Alex, the guy they'd hired to "attack" Lily so Kevin could "rescue" her (and then Alex ended up drugging Lily). Daniel feared for Lily's safety.... Neil was surprised to see Daniel chatting with Kevin. Later, Kevin and Daniel vowed to stop Alex from ruining their lives. Alex then called Daniel and said lewd things about Lily.

Jack wondered why Nicholas left town, but Phyllis said she didn't know. She asked Jack to take a paternity test and told him that if he's the father, she won't force Jack to participate in the baby's life. Jack agreed to take the test and stated that he'd never turn his back on his child. He also promised to not take the baby away from Phyllis. "Wow, you must have a very low opinion of me," an extremely hurt Jack replied.

At Newman, Carmen asked Phyllis for fashion advice. "Some people think I dress inappropriately," Phyll told her. After, Jack, Phyllis, Neil and Carmen shared an awkward elevator ride as Neil informed the former two that he and Carmen are going to a concert in the park.... Neil admitted to Carmen that he and Dru are having problems. She said that she just wanted his "friendship."... As they waited for Jack to take the paternity test, he and Phyllis thought back to their painful past when she'd miscarried their child. Jack believed that she's hoping it's Nick's. "How do you know when I don't know myself?" she replied.
