Y&R Recaps Week of August 7, 2006

Friday, August 11, 2006
A doctor examined John at the prison. His eyesight had returned, but the doctor remained worried. At the house, Gloria wanted to throw a blowout welcome-home party. Ashley and Jack pooh-poohed the idea, and then the warden called — John had been taken to Memorial Hospital. The family rushed there. Katherine showed up; Gloria called Kevin too. Ashley wondered if someone upset John. Jack recalled their argument earlier that day and was wracked with guilt. The doctor came out and said John suffered a minor stroke. Gloria insisted on seeing John first, while Katherine gave a speech about how she's known John since she was a child and that he will beat this. "You know I'd do anything to get out of that place," joked John when Gloria came in, crying hysterically. Gloria left and told everyone that John seemed fine. Jack and Ashley went in to see John and they all shared a great big hug.

Lily and Drucilla fought over the Daniel situation. "I know exactly how you feel to have your trust broken by someone you love," interjected Neil, taking a potshot at Dru. Neil added that Lily doesn't have to get a divorce, since she was underage when she married, so the marriage can be annulled. "Stop treating me like I'm 12," Lily snapped. Dru ripped into Neil for how he handled the situation. Meanwhile, at Crimson Lights, Daniel rehashed the whole mess with Kevin. The subject changed to Jana. "I think she could be the one," beamed Kevin. After Kevin left, Lily showed up and pouted about what went down at home. Daniel gave her a hug.

EOE (end of episode), Neil told Dru their marriage is over, and Jack came out and told everyone that something was very wrong with John. Code blue!

Nick thought the well-dressed man shot Sharon, but Brad said they were just trying to scare them (he was right). Paul called and said Sharon left them a clue — the numbers of a shipping container in Cleveland. Then the well-dressed man called back and put Sharon on the phone with Brad. Victoria decided to make a replica of the reliquary, using sections of the two pieces they'd just acquired from the mysterious art dealer. After talking to his mother, Brad wondered if the kidnapping was an act of revenge against her for testifying years ago at a German commander's war trial.

Gloria wanted to go to the prison with Jack and Ashley to visit John on his birthday. Jack and Ashley objected. Michael arrived and announced that he had the best birthday present ever for John — an early release. Gloria ran off to tell her husband the good news, while Jack and Ashley thanked Michael. After Glo left, Jack and Ash went to the prison, where an elated John said he wanted to take control again of Jabot. Jill stopped by, too, and told John that Billy is coming home. Meanwhile, back at the mansion, Gloria shared her charms-as-perfume-bottles idea with Katherine. "Excellent," praised Mrs. C. Ashley pooh-poohed the idea, of course, but Jill LOVED it. Jack went back to the prison and noticed John's head was hurting (uh-oh...).

Lauren tried to persuade Michael to pursue his search for his alcoholic father by reconstructing Grandma Baldwin's diary. Michael believed finding out about his family may help him relate more to his son. Lauren pointed out that they don't know the sex of the baby yet. They called their OB to find out, but Lauren balked at the last second and Michael hung up without finding out.

EOE (end of episode), John lost his vision in his right eye, while Victoria struggled to create a fake reliquary.

Drucilla tried to seduce Neil again, but he wasn't having any of it. She ran into Carmen at the office and apologized to Ms. Mesta for accusing her of coming on to her husband. Dru asked her to lunch, but Carmen had a conference call. Carmen ran and told Neil everything. "I didn't mean to create problems," she insisted. Enter Dru, who wanted to go to lunch with Neil. He said he was going to go to Crimson Lights, where — whaddaya know — he ran into Carmen, who was getting takeout until Neil convinced her to eat with him. Dru, of course, showed up and interrupted them.

Lily continued to freeze out Daniel. At the office, Neil gave him more guff. "You see me walking down the hall," his father-in-law advised, "turn and walk the other way." Dru also lit into Daniel.

Brad regretted not being more careful about involving Sharon in his problems. J.T. apologized for snooping around in the first place, but it was a little late for that. Paul delivered a package to Brad. Victoria insisted she leave with Brad; he let his wife tag along. Meanwhile, Paul and J.T. watched Sharon bound and gagged on their laptop. J.T. recalled hearing trucks. Colleen called and was shocked to hear J.T.'s voice. Then she called Lily, who filled her in on the Alex situation. Colleen blamed Kevin.

Nick called Phyllis while he searched for his wife, Sharon. Brad and Victoria showed up. The art dealer was surprised to see Brad and Victoria when he arrived at his supposedly exclusive meeting with Nick. The dealer was cautious, but finally revealed he had two pieces for sale, but not the one they wanted. Still, they bought the two for $75,000 apiece.

EOE (end of episode), the well-dressed man called Nick and told him he's running out of time. After he put Sharon on the phone, he put a gun to her head and...BANG!

Brad accused Nick of signing Sharon's death warrant by stealing Brad's cell phone and negotiating with the kidnappers himself. Victoria was irked (jealous?) when Brad blew his stack. Nick shared with Phyllis that he's leaving town to rescue Sharon — alone. He suggested she get out of town ASAP. Next, Nick called Carmen and Neil to have an impromptu meeting and asked them to cover for him while he's gone. He also called an art dealer about purchasing some antiquities. Neil asked what's going on, but Nick refused to talk about it. "I got your back on this one," Neil assured.

Back at the Carlton mansion, J.T. showed up. "You're lucky to be alive, J.T.," Brad sneered, before explaining the whole story again. Victoria blamed J.T. for starting all this trouble in the first place. "You wanted to smear Brad and me," she claimed.

Lily confided in Devon that it was over between her and Daniel. When Lily changed her tune and tried to defend Daniel, Devon ripped him apart. Then he went to Newman Enterprises to give Daniel a piece of his mind; Neil broke it up. Phyllis showed up and asked what was going on. Daniel stormed out, so Neil caught her up. Meanwhile, Lily was home at the Abbotts sulking about Daniel and remembering happier times. When Daniel came home, Lily pouted some more and left.

Drucilla "confronted" Neil about his involvement with Carmen. He admitted they are friends. Later, at home, Dru prepared dinner for her and Neil, then put on a white teddy and climbed into bed with her hubby, but Neil wasn't interested.

Jana and Kevin went on an episode-long date: they played basketball, climbed a water tower, then kissed at Crimson Lights.

EOE (end of episode), Nick ran into Phyllis before leaving and they held hands in the elevator, while the well-dressed man called "Georgie" and threatened Sharon's life again.

Jack visited John in jail, boasting about his success at NVP. "Don't be too proud of me just yet," he warned, though. Dad and son shared some sodas and discussed his business failures. Jack was determined to get Jabot back and make it a "powerhouse that will rival Newman Enterprises." After the jail visit, Jack went by to see Nikki, who vented her frustration about Victor being AWOL. "He needs to come home now!" she cried at an unconcerned Jack, playing cryptic about the "Sharon-is-missing-and-it-involves-Nazis!" stuff going on at home. Jack offered to distract her with plans for their spa opening.

At Crimson Lights, Gloria thanked Jana (and her scary red highlights) for helping Kevin nab Alex. Kevin and Daniel, meanwhile, hoped that Lily wouldn't rat them out to the cops. She didn't, and Drucilla and Neil wondered why Daniel and Kevin were so buddy-buddy again. Lily kept covering for her hubby but he 'fessed up to his in-laws about his involvement with Alex's attack on Lily. Naturally, Neil and Dru weren't too happy. At the coffeehouse, Kevin filled in Glo about Daniel going all confessional. "He's going to be the one that suffers," Kev noted. Lily refused to let her folks call the police, so Neil and Dru kicked Daniel out of their apartment instead. Daniel showed up at Newman and told Jack that Lily left him. Gloria visited John in jail and they commiserated over helping out their sons. Jack advised Daniel to give Lily some time and "take this like a man." Phyllis thanked Jack for helping Daniel — with an awkward hug!

Nick and Nikki worried about the radio silence from Victor while, in Kansas, Hope found him convulsing on her kitchen floor. Brad told Nick and Victoria to find the reliquary while he focused on finding Sharon. "Who put you in charge, anyway?" Nick snarled. Nikki told the snarky gang to cool it, still worrying about the Mustache. Hope demanded the 411 on Victor's condition. Nick told Nikki to take the safe route and join Noah on his trip, but she refused, determined to find Victor. Down on the farm, Victor admitted to being both ill and scared. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Nick tried to shuffle Phyllis off, too, and then told Victoria that Brad (a.k.a. "some guy named George") would probably punk out on saving Sharon. Vicki noted that Brad would probably go to greater lengths to save Sharon than her (ouch!). In Kansas, Victor was having "wonderful" experiences he wanted to "reflect" on, and asked for Hope's help in deciding what to do. Nick told Phyllis he had a plan and had to fly solo. "This baby needs a father, so be careful," she warned. Victoria froze out Brad, who assured her he loves her but didn't want to be responsible for anyone croaking.

Victor said good-bye to Hope, setting off on his spiritual journey. Daniel told an unhappy Kevin that he'd spilled all the beans (and not the coffee kind). "When trust is gone, you've got nothing," Neil growled, looking pointedly at Dru as they suggested Lily divorce Daniel. John shared with Gloria Jack's plans to snag back Jabot. Vicki was momentarily pacified by Brad's words as Nick got a call from the evil folks. He'd do whatever they wanted as long as they didn't hurt Sharon!
