Y&R Recaps Week of August 21, 2006

Friday, August 25, 2006
Nick brought Phyllis to Victor's welcome-home party. "You really think it's appropriate to bring your pregnant lover here?" Sharon sniped, just as Brad (her secret lover!) walked in with Victoria. Noah ignored Phyllis. Victor greeted everyone, including Zapato. Victor said that he was sent to the hospital while he was at monastery, but refused to take the medication and wants to find another way to fight this. Victor changed the subject to how Sharon is doing. She didn't want to talk about the kidnapping and shared that Drucilla has moved in with her. Phyllis let Nikki and Victor feel the baby kick, and let it slip that the baby is a girl. Sharon gave Noah a time-out for fighting with Abby.

"I am Mrs. John Abbott," Gloria declared. "My father was doing just great until you came along," Jack retorted. "You killed him!" Victor showed up, interrupting the Abbott-Fisher war. Gloria filled Victor in on how she missed the funeral because Jack gave her the wrong time. Jack was more interested in how Victor's trip was. Christine called Jack to tell him the lawyer never filed John and Gloria's new marriage license. Jack quickly "broke" the news to Gloria. Michael warned Jack he's going to fight him on this, and then called Chris and summoned her to his apartment. Gloria was devastated to discover she really isn't married to John, but she felt a little better when Chris let it slip that John left her half (!) of his estate. Meanwhile, Jack told Ashley he blamed Gloria for John's death, because now he can't redeem himself in his father's eyes by reclaiming Jabot for the family. Then Jack got a call from the prison chaplain, who had something John gave him: a SECOND will.

Dru asked Neil to join her for a bite to eat; as usual, he said no. "You could hardly stand to look at me," Dru said, stating the obvious. He blasted her for sending Devon home so he'd interrupt him and Carmen. She noted she's the one who should be annoyed — "You're the one with the girlfriend!" Dru left to confront Carmen. "You want my man so much, you're practically drooling," she hissed, before Neil burst in to break it up and order Dru to pull it together. Neil and Carmen went off to watch a movie, while Dru had visions of the two kissing, which is exactly what they were doing at her apartment after the flick. Dru spied them through the window with binoculars from the street. Poor thing!

Billy told Colleen he wasn't going to the funeral because he felt he already said goodbye to his dad at the hospital. Ashley asked Jack what was up with the "kindness act" toward Gloria. "Things will never be the same around here," Ashley lamented. Gloria was at Michael's, telling him his tie was too "dark and severe looking." Kevin had a pink tie on. "This should be a celebration for John," Gloria announced. Lauren commented on seeing Traci again after all these years, and recalled torturing Traci about her weight when they were teenagers.

At the church, Ashley noted that Dina and Mamie sent flowers. Katherine comforted Jill as she flashed back to happier times with John. When the reverend arrived, Jack said they should get started, even though Gloria wasn't there yet. Katherine insisted on calling Gloria first. Katherine couldn't reach her, so "then we'll go ahead without her," Jack instructed. Ashley gave the first eulogy, recalling the dream she had last night where John assured her everything was going to be OK. Traci cried that "Daddy" always held her up. Jill thanked him for Billy. And finally, Jack pointed out that he and his father share the same name, and what it's meant to him. "My family calls me Jack. I am proud to carry my father's name and I am honored to protect what he values most — the Abbott family."

Gloria finally got to the church but no one was there. The reverend came in and broke it to her that the service was over! Gloria blew a casket...er, gasket. "Who told you what time to be here?" Michael asked his mom. "Jack," she seethed. "This is low, even for Jack," remarked Kevin. Gloria gave her "eulogy" anyway. (Cue the bagpipes and flashbacks!) Then Gloria hightailed it home to blast Jack. "Jack Abbott is a selfish snob," Gloria growled. "I am sick of being treated like a second class citizen." Then Jack told her off, accusing her of only bringing misery (a.k.a. Terrible Tom) into their lives and causing John so much stress that he eventually had a stroke and died because of her. Gloria was rattled, Michael looked like he wanted to knock Jack out, Ashley was stone-faced, and poor Traci was crying hysterically.

R.I.P., John!

Jack and Ashley met with Christine to inquire about John's will. Ashley was shocked that Gloria gets half of the estate, while the other half is divided among his children. (Jack and Ash were named sole owners of the Abbott mansion, however.) Jack questioned if Gloria and John ever filed for a new marriage license, and, if not, if that would make the will void. Chris said no. But Jack still had a plan....

Lauren gave Michael his grandmother's waterlogged diary, with some of the pages restored. Michael was afraid to read it, but started to anyway.

Sharon worried over Noah swiped something that wasn't his — Aunt Casey's MP3 player. Nikki came by to see how Sharon was doing, since Nikki also was held at gunpoint (Bobby Marsino anyone?). Then Nikki played a game with Noah. Sharon left to go have a drink at Eve's. She freaked out when a well-dressed man (no, not the well-dressed man) came on to her at the bar.

Phyllis warned Nick that Noah might be manipulating him. Nick asked if Noah can spend some time at her apartment.

Neil asked Dru when she's going on her next promo tour; she accused him of wanting her out of the way so he can play footsies with Carmen. Later, Dru called him to apologize, but he wouldn't answer the phone. He DID answer Carmen's call, and Dru overheard that they were meeting at Eve's. Neil shared that he's thinking about opening a supper club. Dru showed up and hid behind a plant as Neil invited Carmen back to his place for a cup of decaf (don't Dru, Devon and Lily still live there?!?!?!). Dru called Devon and told him there was an emergency at home. Sure enough, Devon interrupted the pair and Carmen scurried on home.

EOE (end of episode), Victor called Nikki and said he was coming home; despite her pregnant belly, Phyllis modeled a leopard-print teddy for Nick; and Jack gave a shocked Gloria a hug!

Drucilla, who spent the night at Sharon's, was devastated by John's death. Neil read it in the papers too. "I wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for him," Neil noted. Later, Neil ate Chinese with Carmen. She showed him a family photo. "Wow, you are so cute," Neil noted. Brad arrived and chewed Carmen out for a unoriginal press kit. Carmen stood up to him, earning Neil's admiration.

Jack and Gloria clashed over the funeral arrangements for John. Gloria wanted to have the service at the Colonnade Room, but Jack insisted on a private, intimate affair. Gloria caved, but wanted the media alerted about the arrangements. Ashley objected. Katherine and Jill arrived. Jill announced that she and Katherine are starting a scholarship in John's name. Billy said he planned on leaving town again after the funeral. In the kitchen, Katherine tried to talk some sense into Gloria. All hell broke loose when Michael blew up at Jack. Then Michael asked Jack nicely if he can make sure Gloria is a part of the services. Gloria accused Jack of wanting to get rid of her.

Brad summoned J.T. to his office. "Maybe he's got hidden cameras around the loft," he quipped to Colleen, alluding to their night of lovemaking. Brad actually called because he wants J.T. to help find the elusive reliquary.

Victoria shared with Nick that she and Brad are thinking about starting a family. "That's a horrible idea," Nick barked. Next, he canceled lunch with Phyllis because Noah was coming home, and Nick needed to head over to Sharon's. (But first he ran into Brad and warned him not to mess with Victoria.) Sharon noticed that Noah stole something from Nikki's sister.

Colleen confided in Lily that she and J.T. finally had sex.

EOE (end of episode), Michael vowed to protect Gloria, who tried to make nice with Jack.

Brad informed Sharon that John passed away, and then said what's going on between them has to end. "I'm committed to my marriage," he announced. When he left, Sharon was rattled by noises outside.

Nick and Phyllis learned they're having a girl. They went back to her apartment and acted all lovey-dovey. "I've always wanted a little girl," cooed Phyllis. Nick asked if he should move in. "Oh. Well, you're over here a lot..." noted Phyllis. "I want to tie your shoelaces when you can't see your feet anymore," Nick gushed. Phyllis was touched.

The Winters family had dinner together to celebrate Lily's graduation. Lily asked Daniel to join them. Sharon showed up and joined them for dessert. Devon gave Lily a stuffed bear; Daniel felt badly he didn't get her anything. When the waiter brought the dessert menu, Sharon hallucinated and saw the well-dressed man, then excused herself to go order a gin and tonic — a double.

The nurse accidentally wheeled John's body by the entire family. Gloria broke down. The Abbotts went home to an empty house, while J.T. took Colleen back to the loft. Gloria lashed out at Jack, claiming he rushed to pull the plug. Jack broke down in Ashley's arms (sniff, sniff!). Glo apologized, although "I guess we'll never really know for sure," she added, over whether they made the right decision to discontinue life support. Michael and Lauren offered to take care of the funeral arrangements, but Jack and Ashley wanted to handle it; they wanted it small and intimate. Gloria balked, but Jack wouldn't back down.

Brad reiterated to Victoria that he is committed to their marriage and wanted to make a baby. "Why stop at one kid — we can create a dynasty," he said. (What does he think this is? DYNASTY?)

EOE (end of episode), despite John's death, Colleen was in the mood and made love to J.T.
