Jack admired a photo of him and Sharon that was featured in the newspaper story on the NVP gala. Brad also looked at the picture, but was interrupted by Victoria. She admitted that she's nervous about her father's surgery. Brad reminded her of how strong Victor is and tried to comfort her. He promised to be her "safety net."

At the hospital, Nikki and Phyllis were pleased that NVP got a good write-up about boosting sales for a particular quarter, while Jabot was "slaughtered." Michael came to the hospital when he heard about Victor. Nikki was upset that the press was talking about her husband, but filled in Baldwin on Victor's condition. He wanted to help, but Nikki said that it's "in God's hands." Nikki stepped away and Phyllis revealed that Nikki wants to purchase Jabot so they can use it as leverage to buy out Jack from NVP. Baldwin thought this was a terrible idea.... Victoria and Brad met up with Sharon at the hospital. Sharon offered to help out the Newmans during this time; Vicky frostily told her that she can help with NVP business. After, Victoria was cold toward Brad, as well... Phyllis confessed to a worried Nick that she's been working non-stop.... Nikki urged her husband and kids to not discuss business since Victor is supposed to be relaxing before surgery. But as soon as Nikki stepped away, Michael showed him the newspaper clippings. Michael warned him not to buy Jabot.... Jack came to the the hospital and met up with Sharon. She said that she feels like an outsider. Jack reminded her that her friendship with Victor goes beyond being his family member, and that she's still part of the Newman clan. He suggested she take Nikki for a walk. When the ladies left, Jack went right over to Newman's hospital room and asked Victor to help him buy Jabot. Victor agreed to do so.... Jack and Michael had an uncomfortable run-in at the hospital, which Phyllis interrupted.... Later, Victor was prepped for surgery. He was disappointed to hear that he'd still have to take medication.... Sharon caught up with Brad at the hospital, where he questioned her about her relationship with Jack. Brad warned her to be careful with Abbott; an annoyed Sharon told him to go be with Victoria. Later, Victor's family nervously watched him as he was wheeled off to surgery.

Kay informed Jill what Michael had said about selling Jack Jabot — that Andrew Gibson could sue them. Jill wondered if there could be a loophole and suggested they have another lawyer look over the settlement.... Billy asked Jill if she'd seen the newspaper. She mentioned that Kay wants to see Jabot, but is worried about a lawsuit. Billy couldn't believe that they were taking Michael Baldwin's advice.... Jack informed Kay that he has the money to purchase Jabot, but she said that she changed her mind about selling it him. Jack asked who his competition is, but she refused to tell him. "How do I change your mind?" he wanted to know. "You can't," she insisted. After, Jill warned her that Jack's not going to take no for an answer.... Billy informed Jack that Michael is the one who'd changed Kay's mind. Jack confronted Baldwin. "I will get it back," Jack promised.

Lily and Devon found the receipt stating the bail had been posted for Dru. The teens wondered what was up. Dru, meanwhile, told Sharon that she doesn't want her kids to find out about her arrest. Sharon noted that they'll probably learn about it since it'll go on public record, and encouraged her pal to make nice with Carmen.... Neil called Michael and filled him in on Dru's problems. He agreed to take the case... Lily tried to reach her mom, but Dru ignored the call. Devon told Lily that he'd heard some people talking about how Dru had insulted Carmen at the gala.... Dru called Carmen and tried to apologize, but Mesta wouldn't take the call. Neil again urged Carmen to drop the charges. Later, Lily and Devon came by the office... Michael's opposing counsel in the Dru case was — who else? — Will Bardwell. Boy, Mike and Will must've made a fortune this past year since they're the only two lawyers in Genoa City who ever seem to work. The Winters clan then arrived at court and learned that Dru is going to get community service, will be on probation for two years and must stay away from Carmen. Dru wasn't thrilled with the offer, but Baldwin said that it's the best he can do and that more importantly, she won't go to jail. After Carmen agreed to the terms, Neil thanked her. Dru watched them from afar as they spoke.

Jack tried to reach Victor at work and learned that Vic is in the hospital. Meanwhile, Nikki and Nicholas kept the patient company. Victor asked Nikki how much longer he had to stay in the psych ward and she gave him the precise time. She urged her husband to relax. Soon, Jack paid a quick visit to the hospital and Nick left for work. Sharon was upset upon realizing how serious the situation is. When she stepped away with Nikki, Jack went to see Victor again and tried to discuss business. Nikki confronted Abbott outside of Vic's room and accused him of taking advantage of her husband. Jack insisted that he wants Victor to get well. After, he and Sharon ran into each other and embraced.... Victor spoke with his doctor about his condition. He proposed getting brain surgery so he wouldn't have to keep dealing with medications and their side effects. Nikki was opposed to the idea, especially when the doc revealed that there could be brain damage. Victor insisted on going through with the operation.

Sharon came home and found Nick there. He wondered who should tell Noah about Victor. Sharon pointed out that Nick hadn't told her about Victor when it had first happened. Nick urged her not to argue with him. Sharon apologized and admitted that she feels like an outsider to the family. He assured her that she's not.

Gloria insisted to a wary Michael that she and Ashley could "deal professionally" with each other... Katherine and Jill discussed what to do with Jabot. Jill feared that if Jack purchased it, she'd be fired, but Kay said he wouldn't do that.... Glo was concerned about what would happen to her if Jabot fell into different hands and went to see Kay about it.... Ashley arranged for Gloria to be sent on assignment ... in China. Glo refused to go, thinking that Ash was trying to make her disappear. Gloria tried to state what John would say to his daughter, but Ashley replied thusly: "I know exactly what my father would say if he were alive: 'Get. Your butt. To China!' " When Jack came home, he and Ashley celebrated Gloria's impending departure. The conversation turned to talk about Victor. Ash worried that his condition could be genetic and had been passed on to Abby.... Kev promised Gloria that he and Michael are looking out for her.... Michael urged Kay not to sell Jabot to Jack, reminding her that she'd promised Andrew Gibson that Jack wouldn't be associated with the company ... and if he were, Gibson could sue her.

Sharon and Phyllis endured an awkward encounter when Sharon came home and found her rival babysitting her son. Phyllis filled her in on Victor's situation. Sharon was furious that no one had told her, including Nicholas. "Nick was a little busy," snapped Phyll, referring to how he'd rushed to the hospital to be with his dad. Phyllis left to go to the hospital. "Give Victor my love," Sharon called out after her as she departed.

At the hospital, a dazed and confused Victor was being kept in restraints in the psych ward. Meanwhile, Nick tried to be strong for his mom. The doctor arrived and confirmed that Vic's behavior was a side effect of the medication. She allowed Nikki to visit her husband.... Victoria was shaken after having seen her father freak out. Brad comforted her.... Victor flipped when Nikki stopped by and blamed her for his situation. "I can't stand looking at you — get out!" he yelled at his wife. As she and the doc attempted to assess his condition, Victor accused them of plotting agaist him.... Nick and Victoria discussed their father's illness. "It was like he was possessed," Nick sighed. Victoria woried about what would happen if their father died. "Dad's always seemed invincible, but seeing him like this makes me see things differently," she said. Phyllis joined them. Brad wondered why Sharon wasn't there, as well. Vicky stiffly replied that Sharon's with Noah and that it would be uncomfortable if she were at the hospital with Phyllis.... Phyllis reported to Nick that she'd seen Sharon and Jack kissing back when she was at the house watching Noah.... Brad offered to take care of business for Nick so Nick could concentrate on Victor.... Victoria and Nikki thanked Phyllis for being there. Phyllis was touched that she was so welcome. Later, a police officer came to the hospital and asked to speak with Nikki about Victor holding a gun on her. Nikki insisted that she doesn't want to press charges on her ill husband. The doc informed them that he's improving, but she can't release him yet. The family then visited him together. Vic was indeed much calmer, but was still desperate to go home. He was aghast to hear that he had to stay in the psych ward for three days, and that he'd threatened Nikki.... In the waiting room, Brad questioned Phyllis about Jack and Sharon. Brad hoped Jack wouldn't take advantage of her.

Neil drove Dru home after he and Carmen had caught her destroying Carmen's things. Neil told her that she needs to keep it together and is lucky she's not in jail. Unbeknownst to them, however, Carmen had already called the cops. Dru soon returned to Sharon's and broke down. Sharon immediately took her friend into her arms.... Neil left a message for Carmen, apologizing. She called back and informed him that she'd gotten the police involved. Neil was annoyed that she hadn't let him handle it. At that moment, the cops arrived at Sharon's to arrest Dru. Sharon tried to delay them by saying Dru didn't feel well, but they didn't care and snapped handcuffs on Ms. Winters. Neil then came by Sharon's and learned that Dru had been taken down to the station. As they drove down there, Shar berated Neil for the way he'd been treating his wife and warned him that their family could fall apart like hers did.... At the station, Dru was thrown into a cell with a couple of angry-looking women. She tried to ignore the one who asked for a certain item.... Sharon and Neil came to the station to pick up Dru. A cop reminded Dru that she needs to return the next day for her hearing. On the way home, Dru apologized to Sharon. Shar was understanding. Neil wasn't so much: he informed her that Carmen is scared of her and that it's Dru's fault she got into this mess. Dru kept trying to say she's sorry, but Neil refused to talk to her. Sharon recommended she get professional help. Dru accused her of siding with Neil. Sharon explained that she's just concerned about her friend. Dru wondered if Neil still loves her and was determined not to lose him.... Neil asked Carmen to drop the charges, but said that he understands why she'd called the police. He admitted that he's attracted to her, but wants to keep their relationship professional.

At the NVP gala, Neil urged a very drunk Drucilla to go home. "I'm sorry, I'm so stupid," she slurred. After, Carmen and Paul chatted about Dru's odd behavior. Neil then came over to apologize. Meanwhile, Dru came up with a viable reason to get Carmen's doorman to let Dru into Carmen's apartment. Once in there, Dru began cutting up Ms. Mesta's clothes with a scissors. Meow! Neil walked Carmen home ... where she found Dru shredding up her things. Carmen threatened to call the cops, but Neil insisted on dealing with the situation. He did so by dragging his wife out of the apartment. After he left, Carmen phoned the police.

Ashley and Will prepared to leave the gala, but Gloria — wearing her finest Wilma Flintstone dress — urged Bardwell to stay longer. Ash then thanked Paul for the flowers he'd sent in regard to John. Paul asked her if they could still be friends, even though they hadn't worked as a romantic couple.... Jill spied Glo with Will and tried to distract her by saying that Gloria had a phone call. Gloria ignored her and shared a dance with Will. She then began singing "My Funny Valentine" to him ... and actually had a nice voice. Perhaps Gloria should consider a career as a torch singer? Will appreciated the gesture, but Ashley and Jill looked uncomfortable.

At Jack's place, he and Sharon clinked champagne glasses to celebrate the event. Jack praised her for keeping her cool in front of Nicholas and Phyllis. "If my ex-wife and your soon-to-be-ex-husband are getting married, what does that make us?" he wondered. Sharon didn't know, but they agreed that they enjoy each other's company. They kissed and things quickly became more passionate. They ended up making love.

Victor barricaded himself in his home and continued to hear voices. Nikki frantically tried to get in, but he wouldn't open the door. When she entered, Victor grabbed a gun and pointed it at her. Nikki convinced him that he's safe and he finally recognized her. He broke down in her arms. Nikki quietly went and summoned an ambulance.

At home, Nick and Phyllis discussed their future plans, which included getting married. Phyllis wondered why Sharon wasn't home yet. They didn't have time to think about it, as Nikki called with the bad news about Victor.... Brad and Victoria then heard from Nikki.... Nick came over and took the gun from his father. The ambulance then came and took Victor to the hospital. There, the doctor told them that he was suffering from an extreme side effect from his meds: schizophrenia.... Phyllis babysat Noah and offered to bake cookies with him. Noah told her she doesn't have to be nice to him, but she said that she likes him. Noah stated that Nick is going to reunite with Sharon soon.... Victor began to rant and rave against his family and the doctor. He demanded to go home, but the medic refused. Vic fought so much they had to strap him to the bed.... Nick called Phyllis and told her that he needs Phyll to stay with Noah for the rest of the night. Noah was less than thrilled with the turn of events.... At the hospital, Victor groaned as he was injected with sedatives. The doctor said that he had to be admitted to the psychiatric ward for three days.

Party Time! Genoa City prepped for the launch of NVP. At the Newman ranch, Victor and Nikki shared a warm moment, but Nikki's offhand mention about the "long road" to get there caused Victor to erupt in anger. Happily, Jack diffused the situation quickly. Nikki noticed the flowers that Jack had bought Sharon and raised an eyebrow.

At GCAC, Katherine and Jill arrived for the function, and Kay queried her daughter about her interest in Will Bardwell. Unbeknownst to them, Will was escorting Ashley to the fête. "I like surprises," he mentioned to Ash. Um, he's found the right crowd to hang with!

Nick and Phyllis and Brad and Victoria all made small talk at the party. Phyllis mentioned that she's due in November. (Sweeps!) Vicki said that she hopes she looks as good when she gets preggers. Phyllis noticed all of the past year's bedhoppers were getting along great, but pointed out, "The night is still young." Meow!

Sharon told Brad it was time she moved on from their infatuation. Jack wished John was alive to see this evening. Ash told her brother that their dad would be proud. Just then, Gloria showed up, to the Abbott kids' chagrin. "Play nice and enjoy the evening," Gloria advised them. Meanwhile, Jill moved in on Will.

Across the room, Paul informed Brad that his mother had gone missing. Victoria tried to reassure her hubby that he'd hear from missing momma soon. Vicki then worried that if Rebecca had fallen prey to foul play, they could be danger again. Victor walked up to them and got agitated because he knew they were keeping something from him.

As Phyllis raved to the press about the new seaweed masque, Nikki confided in Kay about Victor's newfound erratic behavior. Kay tried to allay Nikki's fears. (Just then, Y&R co-creator Lee Phillip Bell made a cameo as a party guest with pianist Van Cliburn.)

As Neil and Carmen flirted, Dru arrived with a hunky date.... Phyllis told Gloria that she and Nicholas were getting married. Jack overheard the proclamation and was stunned.

During an interview, a local reporter pumped a champagne-swilling Dru for info about Phyllis and Nick. Then, Dru informed Sharon that Phyllis is blabbing all over the place about their impending wedding. Sharon was jarred, just as she readied to give her welcome speech. The moment of truth arrived. Sharon took to the mic and started stuttering. But, she kept it together and joked that the Hatfields and the McCoys of cosmetics are working together now. She then introduced Jack, who quipped that he's the "J" in NVP. Jack then intro'd Victor, Nikki and Phyllis. Victor began to speak and started to have another episode. Nikki and Phyllis addressed the crowd and discussed the beauty and benefits of pampering.

At the food table, Sharon reemed Nick for announcing personal plans at a business function.... Victor realized he was feeling out of sorts and made a hasty exit.

Victor's behavior was growing more odd, but despite his paranoid visions, he didn't cause a scene.... Ashley noticed she was sharing her date — with Jill. Gloria had Kevin call Jill with pressing computer business. Then, Gloria cozied up to Will. She thanked him for the sympathy card and stated that she hoped they could be friends.

Nikki phoned home, but couldn't get a hold of Victor. She said good-night to Phyllis and they congratulated each other on NVP's successful launch. At home, Victor heard voices. Newman started coming unglued.

Jack offered to take Sharon home from the party.... Ashley interrupted Gloria and Will's conversation. During a photo op, a now-drunk Dru called Carmen on the carpet for sleeping her way through the company. Neil dragged Dru out of the room, causing a scene. "I understand how she feels," Vicki snarked to Brad. Phyllis was upset that she missed the exchange because she was in the ladies' room.

A frenetic Victor barricaded himself in the Newman living room and pulled a gun, just as Nikki arrived home.
