Y&R Recaps Week of Sept. 25, 2006

Friday, September 29, 2006
Billy dropped by Katherine's office to smooth things over after they clashed over the sale of Jabot to outsiders. Kay was forgiving and glad that he spoke up, noting that she detests yes-men. She then summoned Michael to a meeting. Billy's ears perked up over the news that a second company, House of Kim, is vying against Raaz Cosmetics for Jabot.

Back from the Caribbean, Jack visited Victor at Newman Enterprises with a gift from Antigua. Vic unsettled Jack by suggesting he terminate Jack's loan since Abbott is no longer interested in buying Jabot. Quick-thinking Jack claimed that the money had already been invested in NVP. Victor questioned why Jack so easily gave up on buying Jabot. Sharon stopped in to talk business. When Jack exited, Victor questioned Sharon about her relationship with Jack. In the meantime, Billy made a secret call to Jack about House of Kim's interest in Jabot. Jack smoothly warned Billy not to let Kay or Jill know that he's feeding him insider info. Then Jack called Nair and ordered him to up their offer to Kay. Nair phoned Katherine and offered an additional $25 million, but said he needed an answer by noon the next day.... In the meantime, Victor threw the gift from Jack on the floor and confronted Abbot. He sulkily asked why Jack hadn't told him about his relationship with Sharon. Friends don't keep secrets, he sniffed.

Gloria found an e-mail that John had sent Jack months before his prison term. The loving missive advised Jack to welcome Glo into the family. Glo thought it might help her case, but Kevin pointed out that they weren't even supposed to have it in the first place since they'd snooped in Jack's computer records. They were interrupted by Will, who came bearing flowers. Gloria's face lit up until he said he was in the building to take Jill to a birthday lunch. Will took his flowers and went to see Jill, whose office was filled with balloons and bouquets, including roses from Billy. During their lunch at the GCAC later, Gloria "just happened" to run in to them with a gift for Jill: a manicure kit. Jill graciously commented that they were her former tools of the trade and invited Gloria to join them. Jill received a call about Jabot business and had to leave. Will and Gloria stayed behind and he casually mentioned that he's still investigating the poisoned cream case. Gulp.

Billy asked Jack if he had anything to do with the corporations wanting to buy Jabot. In the meantime, Kevin found evidence tying Jack to Raaz Cosmetics, but Michael pointed out that they had illegally obtained the info.

At the hospital, the Winters clan rallied around Devon. The teen's eyes opened and his family rejoiced. But something was off: They realized Devon is deaf.

What did Jill say she and Will were considering for lunch?

A hospitalized Devon's monitor began beeping an alarm. Drucilla freaked out. The doctor informed them that they've stabilized him.... Lily regretted not being a good sister to Devon. Daniel assured her that she has been.... Dru and Neil bonded as they kept vigil by the teen's bed.

A gloomy-looking Brad paid Victoria a visit at work. "Do you mind telling me what you're doing with these?" he asked, pulling out a packet of birth control pills. Vicky wondered where he found them; after he answered, she explained that she's not ready to give him a child. She stated that she needs to help him "open up" so they can save their marriage. After, Brad filled in Sharon on his and Victoria's argument. He feared that his wife is afraid of him. Sharon was pleased when he told her that his mom is staying with him. Brad quizzed Sharon about her trip to Antigua with Jack. She replied that Jack is fun to hang out with.... Victoria spent time with J.T. Brad interrupted them and apologized to Victoria.

Jack and Billy confronted Katherine over her possibly selling Jabot to someone other than Jack. Jack noted that Raaz Cosmetics is a "tadpole" compared to Jabot and they might run out of money. Kay told him to butt out. He was adamant about protecting his dad's company. She advised him "let it go." Billy sided with Jack and suggested Kay sell to Ashley. When Kay explained that Ashley was also named in Gibson's lawsuit, he offered to buy the company. Kay refused. Billy was aghast that she'd sell Jabot to outsiders and that she'd want to protect the Fishers.

Meanwhile, Kevin informed Michael that he's found a connection between Jack and Raaz. Michael urged him to hold off on showing the e-mail to Kay given that they, you know, hacked into a company's server. Baldwin wanted to find a more tangible connection and planned to stall Kay.... Jack called Nair and praised him for handling things "masterfully." Nair wondered if he should pressure Kay for a deadline on her decision regarding a sale, but Jack advised him to wait things out.... Jack sent an e-mail to someone from a company called E.F.O. Later, Billy offered to be Jack's eyes and ears so he could help his brother get their family's company.

Michael asked Sharon about the Antigua trip. He got her to talk by lying that he wants to send Gloria on vacation and needed some ideas for hotels and attractions. Jack then invited her out for a drink. Sharon revealed that Michael had been asking about their trip.... Michael informed Kevin that Jack had taken a side trip to Belize to do some business. Kevin noted that this checked out with Jack's e-mails to E.F.O. — a company located there.

Nicholas was anxious to do some "bonding" with Victor, with "hammers and nails and tools and stuff." Victor turned him down. Nick was disappointed. Noah soon joined them and showed off his new cowboy boots. Victor named a well-known "cowboy," but Noah had never heard of the person. Vic and Nick then filled Noah in on Victor's illness, and explained that this is why Vic can't go riding with him. Noah feared he'd die, but Victor promised he wouldn't. He was disappointed that he hadn't gotten to watch his grandfather's brain surgery. Noah left to prepare a surprise for Victor. Victor then revealed to Nick that he's been working from home. He told his son that he's proud of the work he's done for Newman. Noah returned with a bucket full of vegetables so Victor could feed the horses with him.

Gloria met up with Kevin at work. Kevin reported that he couldn't find anything suspicious in Jack's e-mails. Glo was glum as she told him that Raaz Cosmetics is planning to purchase Jabot. Kevin concluded that she was so obsessed with Jabot because she hadn't had time to grieve for John before his children began fighting with her. She denied this, but flipped out when her son called it, "Just a company." Later, she apologized to Kevin and attended a local support group for people who've lost spouses. She was surprised to see Bardwell there; he shared that he lost his wife two years before. Glo mentioned that among the many things she enjoys doing to not think about John is gardening. Really, Gloria would get her manicured hands dirty?

Meanwhile, Michael couldn't find anything shady with Raaz, but wanted a guarantee that Gloria's position would stay intact. He and Kay were interrupted by Ashley; she pretended to not hear them, but then called Jack to tell him about Raaz. Billy told her he'd find out what's going on. He didn't even try to be sneaky about it — he just straight-out asked Kay if she's selling. " 'Sell' and 'Jabot' in the same sentence just doesn't compute," he argued. "It's like 'Hell freezing over.' " Ashley suspected that Jack bought a no-name company to use as a front for buying Jabot. He evaded the question.... Billy made himself at home in Kevin's office and hinted that he'd soon be using it. "Don't you have some mail to deliver?" Kev snapped. After, Kevin tried to find out if Kay is actually going to sell Jabot.... Kay and Jill met with Nair. He informed them that he has a silent partner.... Ashley suggested that she and Jack create their own company. However, Jack wanted Jabot so he could carry on John's legacy.... Kevin learned that Jack is connected to Raaz.... Kay considered Nair's offer.... Michael advised Kay to let him do some more homework on Raaz.... Billy spied Jack chatting with Nair.

At the hospital, Devon's condition worsened and he was put on a ventilator. Dru gasped as she saw her foster son hooked up to various machines. Lily tried to stay positive and talked to him as if he were awake. Dru prayed for him to survive. The Winterses panicked as Devon's monitor sounded an alarm.

The show opened with an appealing tropical shot, taking us to Jack and Sharon in Antigua. The pair flirted as they planned their day. When Jack called her a certain term of endearment, she joked that that's her middle name. After she left, he gave Nair (pronounced Ny-eer) of Raaz (pronounced "Roz") Cosmetics a call. Then, as Jack watched, Nair called Kay back in Genoa City and asked to purchase Jabot. Later, Ghost John appeared to Jack — wearing, in honor of the tropical location, an other-worldly version of a turquoise golf shirt! — and berated Jack for using a dummy corporation to buy Jabot. Ghost Dad called Jill and Kay family, but Jack argued that they threw him to the sharks. "Sometimes you have to play dirty — that's life!" Jack stated. John wouldn't buy it and called him on taking advantage of him when he had John rewrite the will. "Maybe I never knew you at all," Ghost Dad sadly said.... Jill urged Kay to have Michael check things out before they sell to Raaz Cosmetics.... Jack put aside his guilty feelings to spend time with Sharon, but Ghost Dad kept appearing to him whenever he was alone. This time, G.D. lectured him about taking advantage of Victor. Jack insisted that he's protecting John's legacy. Ghost Dad was so angry, he broke a vase. Wow, and he didn't even have to get those lessons for doing that as Patrick Swayze did.

At the GCAC, Michael was surprised to see Gloria reading, then saw it was a book about Bardwell's uncle. Glo insisted that she was just reading for a pleasure. Michael couldn't recall her ever having done so. "Only my mother whose last use of a book was to prop up the broken end of an end table," he cracked. Glo explained that she's researching Bardwell since her good pal, Jill, is dating him. As it turns out, Will was at the bar. After saying hello to Glo, he came to visit Jill. Gloria warned Jill that she has competition for Will: Ashley. Jill was perturbed when Glo not-so-subtly suggested that she play dirty.

Devon wasn't feeling well. Drucilla wanted him to stay home, but he refused ... and then collapsed. Dru tried not to panic as she called an ambulance.

Meanwhile, Neil hung out with the kids — Lily, Daniel, Colleen and J.T. — at the coffeehouse. Coll filled the crowd in on her knowledge of reliquaries. Dru tried to reach Neil on his cell phone, but he ignored the call.

Colleen brought J.T. to her art history class, but Professor Korbel refused to let him sit in. J.T. stated that he's a student at GCU, "but not this semester." Try the past four or five semesters, J.T. In class, Korbel lectured his students about a piece that can be seen in the Cloisters in New York City. Coll corrected him when he made a mistake about its date of origin. He sarcastically invited her to teach the class. After in Crimson Lights, Billy encouraged her to have it out with the prof. She did just that, but he wasn't impressed. She believed that he wouldn't let her bring her boyfriend to class because of who her family is. She then tried to butter him up by telling him that she's interested in gothic art. He — sarcastically — invited her to be his research assistant.

Nikki was nervous about leaving Victor alone and wanted Nicholas to stay with him. Victor was angry at being treated like an invalid. Nikki gave Victor a present. "Is this a new brain?" he quipped. "It's kind of small for that," replied Nick. Turns out it was an electronic medic alert bracelet. After she left, he called and asked to get the business section of the paper.

At the hospital, Dru continued to leave messages and he continued to ignore them. Dru finally paged Lily and got through to her. Neil arrived and Dru berated him for not answering his phone. The doctor then revealed that Devon had meningitis and that he probably hadn't been vaccinated. Dru was concerned when the doctor said that they'd have to do a spinal tap, which could possibly lead to brain damage. He also warned that the disease is contagious. Dru blamed herself for giving Devon cold medicine, but Neil assured her that it wasn't her fault he got sick. Later, the Winterses, plus Daniel, visited Devon in his hospital room. Neil took Dru into his arms as she began to cry.

Neil got a call from his realtor and finalized his purchase of the jazz club. Carmen was pleased to hear of his purchase. Neil shared that he'd accompanied Drucilla to her therapy sessions, and that they'd been advised to spend a couple of weeks apart. Neil admitted that Dru could sense his and Carmen's "vibe" which is why she'd freaked out.

Meanwhile, Dru dined out with Devon and pumped him for information on Neil's real estate dealings. She feared he was moving out, but Devon filled her in on Neil's night club plans. Later, Devon berated Neil for what he's done to Dru. Neil promised that they'd work it out.... Neil warned Dru not to use Devon as a go-between.

Post-celebration, Colleen worried she'd had too much of her grandmother's food. J.T. then suggested they get matching tattoos. She refused, remarking she's too fat. J.T. stated that she's perfect and said that those girls who'd laughed at her were jealous. Coll noted that her mom, Traci, struggled with her weight, as well. Colleen then realized she can't get a tattoo because her grandmother, a concentration camp survivor, had been marked at the camp.

Abby accidentally mentioned Rebecca to Ashley.... Rebecca was happy that Victoria liked her kugel. Becky was also thrilled to be spending Rosh Hashanah with family. Brad hoped Abby would be able to join them the next year. He invited his mom to move in, but she worried she'd be intruding — especially since it was clear he hadn't run this by Victoria. After receiving a heart-felt hug from Victoria, she accepted. Vicky wasn't so calm, though, when Brad insinuated that they'd soon be having kids. Just then, Ashley stormed into the house with Abby and introduced herself to Ashley. Becky took Abby into the kitchen, then Ashley reamed out Brad for telling Abby to keep secrets from her. Brad apologized, then told Abby she did nothing wrong by filling in Ashley.... Becky was guilty that Brad's had to hide his history and wasn't sure she should move in after all.... Nikki and Victor stopped by and Abby tried to share Rosh Hashanah (or "Rosh Ashanta" as she called it) traditions with them. Nikki noted that Ash seems upset and sympathized with her. Victoria admitted to being overwhelmed regarding having wed someone she doesn't know. Brad stated that he loves her and never wanted to hurt her.
