Y&R Recaps Week of October 2, 2006

Friday, October 6, 2006
Lauren was frantic over the mysterious baby gift. Meanwhile, Michael was bummed about his grandmother's death. Enter Gloria, who thanked Michael from preventing Jack's takeover (or so she thought), because then she would have been fired. She went to Jabot and sent a lovely e-mail to the boss of House of Kim, pointing up her previous contributions to Jabot.

At Fenmore's, Lauren freaked when she saw a Sheila look-alike. She called Paul, who, it turns out, is the one who sent the baby gift ("I could have sworn I wrote a card.").

Victor wondered why Jack was coping with the sale of Jabot so well. Nick was also surprised. "Sharon is helping me get through it," Jack said, rubbing Nick's nose in it. In the elevator, John gave Jack hell for seducing Sharon.

As Sharon helped Jack get dressed for work, John reappeared to reprimand Jack again. John followed Jack home, where he joined in on a conversation between him and Ashley (although Ash didn't know her father was there). Back at the office, John appeared in chains, right out of a Dickens novel. When John was done, Phyllis burst in, attacking Jack for canceling the NVP/Jabot tie-in. When Phyllis left, Victor showed up with Zapato. Zapato kept barking at the ghost of John. When Mr. Kim called Jack about firing Gloria, Jack didn't pull the trigger, since John was breathing down his neck. Instead, he instructed Mr. Kim to keep Glo on staff.

Nick informed Sharon that he's throwing Phyllis a surprise engagement party. "Thanks for letting me know," she responded, barely concealing her gall. At the GCAC, Phyllis was planning her own surprise birthday party for Nick. She spotted Ashley, and told her she was sorry about Jabot.

End of episode, Sharon gave Phyllis a hard time and, in the process, blew the secret about the engagement party (Oops!); Gloria gloated to Jack that House of Kim is keeping her on; and Victor talked about Jack to his dog.

Jack outlined for Ashley how he pulled off getting back Jabot. Raaz Cosmetics was a "smokescreen," he explained. "I can't believe I didn't figure out what you were up to," Ash huffed. "Jack, I'm appalled by your duplicitousness, but deeply impressed," she continued. Jack insisted they keep it all a secret, so as to avoid a lawsuit from the Gibson family. Later, at the GCAC, Jack and Ashley put on a show when Katherine arrived and introduced them to the owner of House of Kim. "He knows only what he needs to know and he's very discreet," Jack whispered to Ashley. Victor came over and asked how they were doing. "You can always come to Newman," Victor assured Ashley. Gloria walked over and introduced herself to Mr. Kim; he dismissed her after getting the cue from Jack. "Jill, you have to find a way to convince this guy to keep me on," Gloria frantically ordered, after the HOK boss left.

Lauren returned from visiting Scott. She and Michael started to get all cozy, but then Gloria and Kevin barged in. Michael begged Kev to take Gloria out for a long, leisurely dinner. They left, so Lauren and Michael were finally able to make love. But then Michael got a call — from the New Orleans coroner. They found his grandmother's body; she was a casualty of Hurricane Katrina. Ding, dong, Lauren got a special delivery. No, not he baby — but a present for the baby, with no card. She feared Sheila was back!

Phyllis returned from her trip, much to Sharon's chagrin. Sharon went to the GCAC and chatted with Victor, who said Nikki was away. Victor was "happy to have you," he told Sharon (hmmm). Phyllis planned a surprise birthday party for Nick, while Nick made alternate plans for a surprise of his own.

End of episode, Sharon took Jack home and made love to him, to make him feel better. Little did she know he was already the happiest guy on earth.

Billy acted like a playboy with Colleen and badmouthed J.T. They turned the discussion to her difficult professor, but Billy was bored and wondered when Colleen became so interested in art. Enter the professor, who asked — actually, ordered — Colleen to join him in a conference call on some art matter.

Dru told Sharon she's moving home to be near Devon, who was dealing with his hearing loss while insisting on going back to school. Lily talked/typed to him to try to lift his spirits. The teens figured out who would cover Devon's classes. The "difficult" professor also came through for Devon (and Colleen thanked him).

Katherine sold Jabot to House of Kim. "It's official," Michael announced. Gloria feared she'd lose her job. Cut to Jack, who was talking about Jabot to Sharon and what the company meant to John. Cut back to Katherine, who informed Jill that she sold. "It's the end of an era," Jill noted with tears in her eyes. Cut to Michael, telling Jack that Katherine sold to House of Kim. Jack was devastated. Cut to the lab, where Katherine broke the news to a sad but understanding Ashley. Ashley went home to try and cheer up Jack.

End of episode, The Fishers celebrated the sale. Cut to Jack, who broke out the CHAMPAGNE. Jack revealed to Ashley that HE is the new owner of Jabot!

Katherine announced to Gloria, Jack and Billy that she has decided not to sell to Raaz Cosmetics. Gloria visited Ashley in the lab and discussed her charm bracelet/bottles of perfume idea. Gloria tried to call a truce, but Ashley wasn't biting. Next up, Michael pulled Gloria into the boardroom and asked her if she said anything to Jack about Raaz. Nope, Glo insisted. Michael went to Katherine with what he found out about House of Kim (which, basically, was nothing). Meanwhile, back at the lab, Ashley shared some test perfumes that Jabot had in the pipeline last year; they may be just right for Glo's new project. "I'm glad you came around," glowed Gloria.

Daniel helped Neil set up Devon's computer at home. "Hey, Daniel, you're his family too," Neil offered, softening toward the boy. At the hospital, Devon learned how to teletype. "My son's not a quitter," Dru assured the doctor when he told her these were going to be very trying times. Lily taught Devon sign language, until he got frustrated and blew up. Dru rushed in to calm him down. Back at the house, Daniel called Kevin to help with some computer problems. "I don't think so," glared Neil. "Our best bet is Kevin," argued Daniel. Neil let him in and — voilà — Kevin fixed the problem. When Devon came home, Daniel showed him how the wireless computer works.

Jack looked like the cat who swallowed the canary, even though Katherine just squashed his Raaz plot. Jack to Ashley: "Be patient."

End of episode, everyone gave Devon's new computer a whirl, but then the connection failed; and Michael assured Katherine that Jack has nothing to do with House of Kim, so she's free to go ahead and sell Jabot.

Devon lashed out because he is partially deaf. He underwent tests, but couldn't hear below 95 decibels. "What about his music?" cried Lily. "I'm scared," Devon admitted to Lily later.

Brad was home from work for Yom Kippur. He atoned for his sins by apologizing to Victoria for keeping so many secrets. She gave him a hard time. Enter Rebecca, who also atoned by apologizing to Victoria. Brad went to the office and shared with Sharon that he had a talk with Victoria.

Sharon asked Victor if he regrets selling NVP to Jack. He didn't. Later, Victor asked Victoria if everything is OK on the home front. She chose to be cagey. Victoria went to the break room, where she walked in on Brad and Sharon talking. Vikki was not amused.

Billy figured out that Jack has Raaz Cosmetics in his back pocket. Jack decided to let Billy on board. Enter John (looking rather alive and well), who ripped into Jack again. "When does it stop?" John wondered. "I'm sorry, but I refuse to feel guilty about this," argued Jack. Meanwhile, Michael went to Katherine and told her what's going on between Raaz Cosmetics and Jack. Gloria burst into Kevin's office to find out why Michael was meeting with Katherine, so he told her that they found a connection between Jack and Raaz.

Billy drove his OG — Katherine — to the GCAC in his Porsche. Katherine asked if OG stands for "Old Grandma" (not really...), then suggested they drive with the top down. At the club, Katherine met with the House of Kim representative, who was interested in Jabot too. The HOK guy made Kay a most impressive offer (hmmm...).

End of episode, Katherine ordered Michael to not tell a soul about the HOK offer.
