Y&R Recaps Week of Oct. 23, 2006

Friday, October 27, 2006
Neil was anxious about the opening of his club, Indigo, but a kind note from Nikki and Victor helped calm him — somewhat. He couldn't help thinking about Carmen since she was the one who gave him the idea to purchase the club. Everyone kept saying how thrilled they were that Aaron Neville (full name always stated, of course) would be performing. Neil hoped nothing would go wrong during the evening.

Speaking of Ms. Mesta — or not — Bardwell, Victoria and Jack all wondered why they couldn't reach her and why she'd blown off appointments with them. Jack and Kim hoped she was on a plane to Hong Kong.... Victor, Nikki, Brad and Victoria were surprised that they all agreed they should buy Carmen out and get rid of her. "There was unanimity in this room. When's the last time that ever happened?" marveled Vic. Jack suggested getting her a job out of the country.

Phyllis and Nick were excited to have tickets to see Aaron Neville. Phyll convinced Nick that they need to pack a pregnancy bag for her for her inevitable trip to the hospital. As he gave her a foot massage, Nikki called; Phyllis faked having pregnancy pains so Nikki would leave her alone. She was mildly upset when Nikki informed her that Jack's been making deals for NVP without letting her or Phyllis know about it. "You shouldn't be rubbing my feet while I'm talking to your mother on the phone," Phyll scolded Nick once she'd hung up. Nick then commented on a certain item of her wardrobe as being "hot." Phyllis didn't agree with him on this one. The couple happily packed the rest of her bag with various books and CDs (including Aaron Neville's). Is this supposed to be like the word of the day on PEE WEE'S PLAYHOUSE, where every time someone says, "Aaron Neville," the audience screams? Later, Phyllis emerged in a sexy, red number, proudly showing off her belly. The duo made love and skipped the concert.

Jack and Sharon planned to see Aaron Neville, despite the fact that Nick and Phyllis were planning to attend the concert. Bardwell interrupted and asked if they'd heard from Carmen. Both hoped Mesta had decided to leave them alone.... Nikki complained to Victor how he's letting Jack take advantage of him. Victor stated that he's not as clueless as she seems to think he is and that he's well aware that Jack is up to something.... Bardwell continued to call Carmen.

At Indigo, the bartender Vincent flirted with Lily — despite noticing her wedding band. Daniel quickly interrupted them. Vinnie then flirted with Drucilla and Neil called him a "pipsqueak." Dru assured Neil that he has nothing to worry about.... Neil denied Will entrance to the concert.... Later, Aaron Neville himself arrived and everyone fawned over him. Everyone except a mopey Devon, that is, who tried to hide. Aaron performed "Stand By Me," and there was a montage of Phyllis and Nick making love; Aaron performing; Dru and Neil enjoying the show; Victoria watching the show, her head on Brad's shoulder; Sharon and Jack dancing and laughing; Daniel kissing Lily on the cheek; Jana enjoying the show, flanked by Billy and Kevin.... Devon stared sadly at a jukebox in Crimson Lights. Dru found him and urged him to see the show. Devon didn't want to "see" the show, he wanted to hear it. Dru worked the guilt reminding him that Neil would be disappointed if Devon didn't attend.... Our friend Vinnie greeted Sharon with this gem of a pick-up line: "Do you know what polar bears are good for? Breaking the ice." Ouch.... Phyllis and Nick put on Aaron Neville's album since they'd missed his concert.... Aaron Neville sang a second song, "Ain't No Sunshine." A woman signed along with him so Devon could appreciate the show. Neil was thrilled he'd "pulled it off." Neil took a cell phone call from Nick and went outside to get better reception. There, Neil spied Carmen's lifeless body in the alley. So much for Indigo's great buzz....

Which clothing item of Phyllis's did Nick say was hot?

Billy invited Jana to attend the opening of Neil's club with him, but Kevin said she had to work. Billy compared Kevin to a certain wannabe rapper. Jana was unimpressed by the guys fighting over her.

A feverish Lauren dreamed that Sheila (looking like Phyllis) tried to steal her baby. When she awakened, the real Phyllis was standing over her, concerned. Lauren informed Phyllis how Sheila had had herself done over to look like Phyllis. Phyll was confused and upset. Kevin volunteered to care for Lauren. Later, Michael encouraged Lauren not to worry so much about Sheila, now that she's dead.

Devon read up on cochlear implants. A man then arrived at the door with subpoenas for Devon and Neil to testify in Dru's trial. Sharon, Brad, Victoria and Daniel received them, as well.

Bardwell and Carmen discussed the impending case. Carmen couldn't understand why the court will need her testimony when a tape of Dru attacking her exists. Will explained that it's difficult to prove the tape's authenticity. Carmen whined about being a victim. She suggested Will using Jack as a "friendly" witness, but Bardwell wasn't sure it was a good idea. After, Jack continued to pester Carmen into accepting the Hong Kong position, but she still refused.

Michael warned Dru that she'd better arrive at court, calm and collected, and should vent about Carmen only in the privacy of her home. Neil implored Dru not to try to reason with Carmen. Still, when Bardwell called Neil, Winters barked, "Go to hell!" at him and slammed down the phone. After, Neil pleaded with Carmen to not testify against Dru, especially when Devon's about to get surgery. Carmen was entirely unsympathetic and stated that she's reporting their conversation.... Michael informed Carmen that he knows that she once had another affair with a married man, and warned that he has information that could make her look like a predator. After making some calls, she concluded that Paul was the one who dug up stuff on her. Later, she again complained to Phyllis how she's being made to be the bad guy when it was Dru who'd attacked her.... Phyll warned Michael that she's standing up for Carmen at the trial; he replied that he can prove how she's not qualified to be a good judge of character.... Carmen offered to make Newman's bad publicity "go away," if Victoria could get the company to buy out her contract.... Brad feared that Carmen overheard him discussing his life as George Kaplan.... Carmen told Paul that his job is slimy.... Lily planned to see Carmen, despite Daniel's protests.... Neil informed Devon that he's never been unfaithful to Dru, but that Michael might try to make Neil and Carmen's relationship seem more intimate in order to help Dru's case. "To hell with Carmen Mesta!" Devon cried. Devon then cornered Carmen in an elevator at Newman and begged her to give Dru a second chance. She dropped the file that Michael gave her detailing her past. Devon picked it up, curious.... Neil warned Dru that Michael's planning to play up his and Carmen's association. "That woman deserves to die," Dru sniffed.

Back home, Nicholas struggled to keep from getting a hernia as he lifted his pregnant bride over the threshold. "I'd marry you a hundred times," gushed Nick. "I'd marry you a hundred-and-one times," she replied. The newlyweds wondered when they should tell everyone, when Noah came rushing in. "What's the big news?" he asked. They informed him that they're legally married ... in New Mexico, and that they planned to be wed eventually at home when the divorce is officially finalized in Wisconsin. Noah took the news surprisingly well, but was concerned about how Sharon would react.

At Newman, Sharon blew off Carmen when she tried to discuss NVP business. Jack wondered if Carmen accepted Mr. Kim's offer to work in Asia, but Ms. Mesta refused to do so. Jack feared she'd blow his cover and reveal that he's the real owner of Jabot. She insisted she wouldn't, but Nikki and Victor were confused when they walked in and heard her mention Jack and Jabot. She quickly covered, then Victor chewed her out for her treatment of Dru. Carmen told them to butt out.

Lily, Daniel and Devon enjoyed a good, old-fashioned Carmen-bashing session at the coffeehouse. Daniel urged them to stay away from her, but when Will Bardwell showed up, Lily told the D.A. that Carmen's going to lose the case. Meanwhile, Drucilla worried about her upcoming trial. She told Michael that she's not accepting his plea bargain. Michael said that he's having Paul investigate Mesta. Baldwin instructed her to not discuss the case with anyone, even with her family.... Sharon told Neil she's ready to be a character witness for Dru... Dru didn't like the idea of Phyllis having to take the stand.... Later, Lily confessed to Dru that she'd confronted Carmen. Dru and Michael were not pleased.... Carmen tried to get Neil to see her point of view regarding the situation, but he was upset that she wants Dru to go to jail when Devon needs Dru. After insisting that Dru wouldn't come after her in a dark alley, he ended the conversation. Next, Sharon suggested Carmen dropped the charges. Mesta couldn't understand why everyone is taking Dru's side... Michael informed Bardwell that Phyllis won't be so quick to bash her son's mother-in-law. Sure enough, Daniel implored his mom to go easy on her.... Dru enjoyed a "last meal" with her children.... Neil was grateful for Victor's support of Dru. Victor said that he and Nikki will be at the opening of Neil's jazz club, Indigo... Bardwell informed Carmen that even though they have a tape of Dru attacking her, there are no witnesses to authenticate it.... Carmen complained to Phyllis about Dru. Phyllis agreed to help Carmen.

Victor questioned Jack about some transactions he'd made at work. He warned Jack that Nikki's going to want to see the paperwork.... Jack offered Carmen a large "signing bonus" if she goes to Hong Kong. She still refused to go. He warned her to take the money and run. She insisted on staying put.

Phyllis and Nick told Jack and Sharon their news. Jack insisted he's happy for his ex. Sharon was upset that they hadn't told her beforehand, but offered her congratulations. Later, Nick told his parents the news. Victor gave his son a gift: a plot of land. Nikki officially welcomed Phyllis into the family and insisted that Nick and Phyll have a wedding when the waiting period for their divorce is over.... Jack and Sharon agreed that they have "other things" on their minds aside from Nick and Phyllis.

Bardwell questioned Phyllis and Nick about Dru and Carmen's argument, but Nick asked if they could discuss it later.... Lily was unsure how she'd keep from approaching Carmen.... Dru told Neil that Carmen's lucky she only slashed her clothes.... Michael thanked Paul for getting some good dirt on Ms. Mesta.

At the coffeehouse, Daniel was upset when Lily ignored him. Turned out she'd stuffed plugs into her ears so she could relate to Devon. Meanwhile, a man was angry with Devon when he asked the teen to hold the elevator for him and Devon didn't oblige. Angry Man was quite humiliated when he shouted, "What, are you deaf?" and realized that oops, Devon indeed is. After, Devon complained to the couple about all he's missing out on by being hearing impaired.

Michael stared, worried, at the pic of dead Sheila looking like Phyllis. Meanwhile, Phyllis and Nicholas smooched and looked forward to getting married. After, the couple — decked out in cowboy gear — arrived at the bar and saw that it was deserted. Nick insisted that he wasn't playing a prank on her. The bar waitress then arrived and gave them a very good reason for why the justice of the peace wouldn't be able to marry them. Later, the waitress questioned how Phyll knew Nick is "the one." Phyllis stated that Nick "gets" her. Sure enough, Nick went to help the justice of the peace with his task so they could get him over. The couple exchanged touching vows. "There is no one I'd rather spend my life with and I'm honored to take you as my wife," he told her. "I knew when I first fell for you, it would be true love," she told him. "Ridiculous, all-consuming, unconventional, inconvenient love. The kind of love I've never had." They were then pronounced man and wife. Unfortunately, they were informed that their honeymoon suite had been flooded. "What's next — the plague?" sighed Nick. They managed to find time to celebrate, anyway.

Drucilla blamed Carmen for all of her "extra time." Neil believed she deserved a second chance and reminded her that Michael is going to be discussing her plea bargain with Will. Bardwell was all set for Dru to do time in prison; he informed Carmen that they have a strong case. Dru and Neil were aghast when they learned the case would be going to trial. Baldwin wanted to prep Neil to be on the witness stand. Lily wanted to tell off Mesta, but Daniel urged her not to. Michael suggested Dru take the plea bargain, but she didn't want to spend two years in jail. He glumly replied that she could end up getting eight years.... Lily ignored Daniel and confronted Carmen. "You started this, Carmen!" she yelled. "Are you desperate? So desperate to go after a man who doesn't even want you, that now you're gonna go after my mother and father because you got rejected?" "Like mother, like daughter," Carmen sneered, before Daniel broke up their impending fight. "You're not gonna win this," Lily called after her.

As Nicholas and Phyllis discussed their plans to elope, he suggested doing the deed in Las Vegas like Daniel and Lily. "I don't wanna get married by Elvis!" exclaimed Phyllis, who suggested getting married instead in the cowboy bar in New Mexico. But due to an electrical storm, their private jet had to diverted. Phyllis was relieved that they didn't have to ride through the storm, as they had the last time. Perhaps that pilot should remember to check the weather before he takes off, because boy, does he have a bad track record!

Jack tracked down Carmen and retrieved his cell phone. He then noticed that she read a confidential text message from Mr. Kim. Jack tried to explain that the message must've been misdirected but Carmen wasn't convinced. "It is strange that he would ask for the approval from the man who's been legally barred from having anything to do with the company," she pointed out.... In a rather random scene, Jack gave his business card to Will Kirby from BIG BROTHER.... Jack later fretted to Ashley that Carmen suspects that he owns Jabot. "I have to find a way to get her out of Genoa City," Jack grumbled. "For good." Jack went back to Carmen and reported that Mr. Kim wanted to offer her a corporate position in Hong Kong.

Mr. Kim ruffled Ashley's feathers when he began suggesting ways to improve her lab. "I know the truth," an annoyed Ash countered. "The man in charge is my brother. You're just a puppet, Mr. Kim, and he's pulling the strings."

J.T. and Colleen began to get cozy when Coll was interrupted by an urgent call from Adrian. J.T. then got a call from Paul to come to work. Colleen was annoyed that he didn't ignore the call like she'd ignored the one from Adrian. After, Adrian came by, insisting on seeing Colleen. While working on a project, Adrian praised the Newmans for loaning pieces of their art collection to museums. Colleen was surprised when Adrian wondered if the Newmans would ever buy any additional pieces for their collection from the black market. Colleen revealed Rebecca's secret to Adrian, who was impressed by her efforts.

Lauren feared Sheila would kidnap baby Fen now that Ms. Carter had gotten plastic surgery. Since the hospital wouldn't allow Michael to bring in private security, Paul summoned J.T. to unobtrusively play bodyguard. Lauren freaked when Gina showed up at the hospital to see Fen; Gina said that Michael approved the visit. He backed up the claim and Lauren felt bad for feeling so paranoid. Paul then showed up with a fax that he just received that verified Sheila had been hit by a car and killed. A DNA test confirmed her identity. He presented a photo of remade Sheila, who looked like Phyllis.

Victoria wondered why Abby's new school pictures made Brad unhappy. Rebecca explained that they reminded them of her murdered daughter — and Brad's sister — Stephanie. Victoria asked Brad why he never talked about his sister and he admitted guilt over her death. He then affirmed that he wanted to keep the name Brad Carlton as a tribute to his late best friend. Victoria announced that she's ready for them to have a baby.
