Y&R Recaps Week of January 29, 2007

Friday, February 2, 2007
In Madison, Jack prepared for his breakfast meeting with Senator Bodi. When Nick said he'd be at the meeting, Jack secretly phoned the senator to reschedule until after lunch. After lying to Nick that Senator Bodi was the one who had changed the meeting time, Jack urged him to just take the jet home to Genoa City, but Nick phoned home to tell Phyllis he'd be returning later than expected. Of course, he really was speaking to Sheila, who had his wife bound and gagged. Afterward, Jack persuaded Nick to skip the meeting and head home. In the meantime, Feds wired Jack for sound so he could set a trap for the senator. When Bodi showed up, Jack offered a huge campaign donation in exchange for greasing the wheels on the zoning permits Newman Enterprises needed for a big development. Bodi agreed and totally started blabbing about how he always takes illegal contributions.

At the Baldwin's, Lauren got ready to meet "Phyllis", while a very tense Michael flipped out over a missing computer file. Lauren said that she's worried about him and also Paul. Michael said he could only focus on Devon's case.

When Jana didn't come home, Kevin sought solace from Gloria, saying that he feared telling his lover about the time he tried to kill Colleen had turned her off. After dropping by Michael and Lauren's place to look for Jana, Gloria and Kevin took off to Crimson Lights, but she hadn't shown up for work. An extra playing a coffeehouse employee told Kevin that she'd engaged in a loud dispute with Adrian the night before. Kevin surmised that his confession didn't prompt Jana's disappearance.

At the university, Adrian caught Colleen trying to decipher a code word on the white board. He offered to help, but she said that she couldn't tell him anything. However, she still accepted his help with the decoding. He soon cracked part of the code, which was the Latin phrase for "What is truth," a New Testament reference. A short time later, Kevin charged in to accuse Korbel of being behind Jana's disappearance. Colleen got rid of him, then she and Adrian resumed their decrypting. He realized that the code was a "famous Latin anagram" for two phrases: "What is truth" and "Truth is the man who stands before you."

At the Carlton house, Victoria, Brad, Victor and Nikki tried to unscramble the code by using Scrabble tiles. Then Victor and Brad launched into a shouting match over which one of them was responsible for putting the family in jeopardy. Coll rushed home to tell her dad and Victoria about the anagram.... After receiving an update on the Bodi set-up from Jack, Victor filled in Nikki; the Newmans observed that they were "killing two birds with one stone" since Jack's comeuppance was coming, too. And Brad Carlton's next, added Victor.

Phyllis got Sheila to take her gag off and offered to hand over her passport and let her look-alike disappear. Sheila purred that maybe she'd just stay married to Nick (wink, wink) and be best friends with Lauren. Speak of the devil, Lauren phoned to say she and Fen were coming over for their play date. When Lauren and Fen arrived, "Phyllis" went to make coffee and her guest started to hang up her coat, but when Lauren opened the closet door she saw bound-and-gagged Phyllis. A second later, Sheila had a gun pointed at Lauren's head. As she was being held in restraints, Lauren begged Sheila not to hurt the babies. Sheila said she wouldn't hurt babies, but that she loved the "begging" part. Sheila then used the walkie-talkie to taunt Paul, who was still trapped with Maggie in the warehouse nursery/prison. Michael phoned to talk to Lauren, but "Phyll" fibbed that she wasn't there. Still unable to track her down, he called back and "Phyllis" assured him that his wife will turn up.

Michael went to the warehouse where he discovered Paul and a bleeding Maggie, trapped in the nursery/prison. Nick returned home and found a tied-up Lauren, who cried that Sheila had left with Phyllis and the babies.

What theorem did Adrian and Colleen discuss?

Dru was working on a project — which she'd inherited from Carmen — for Newman, but Neil said she'd already completed the report: He'd received it that morning. She insisted that she hadn't sent it and they figured out that someone (David Chow) must have hacked into her account.

Phyllis cooed over Summer and snapped photos to send to Nick, who was on a business trip in Madison with a surly Jack. When Nick called to thank his wife for e-mailing the pictures, Jack asked to speak to her and got all snippy over one of their deadlines. Afterward, the men met with the senator who is blocking their development plan. When it didn't look like he was going to play ball, Nick chewed out the senator, which ticked off Jack, who argued that the senator had been about to negotiate. Jack devised a plan to get the senator to take a bribe on tape.

In the warehouse nursery/prison, Paul tended to gravely wounded Maggie. He assured her someone would come to rescue them. While they waited, Paul filled her in on Sheila's story and regretted not killing her. In the meantime, Michael told Lauren he was going to drop by the warehouse to check on Paul. Lauren considered bringing Paul dinner, but Michael insisted that she steer clear because he didn't want her near Sheila.

Jana showed up at Indigo for a drink and chatted somewhat flirtatiously with Cane until Kevin arrived. Cane charmingly told tales of his Aussie life, but Kev was not so charmed.... Katherine and Niki were also at the club discussing the latest developments in the baby-switch. J.T. met La Chancellor and reported that his investigation hadn't yielded much useful information. He hadn't found a Violet, but there was someone whose first initial is "V." Kay asked him to keep digging.

At Adrian's apartment, the professor told Colleen about how he got involved in art history and teaching. "You make history seem so exciting," she murmured. They were interrupted by a call from Lily, who assured Coll that she can move in with the Romalottis for a while. Adrian apologized for causing a rift between his favorite pupil and her family. After some lingering, smoldering glances, Colleen left as the sexy saxophone music wailed its sultry siren song.... Interestingly enough, said sexy saxophone music was also playing at Indigo, where Jana told off J.T. after he warned her that Kevin is dangerous. Afterward, Kevin praised his girl for her support and said he's in love and he doesn't want any secrets between them. He then confessed that he'd once tried to kill Colleen. "I was in a really, really bad place," he noted. A clearly rattled Jana assured him that it's okay, but she suddenly remembered she had to go to work and beat a path out of the club. At the coffeehouse, Adrian confronted Jana over dredging up the tale of the girl who committed suicide. He got in her face and yelled at her loud enough to draw concerned stares from some extras. When Kevin came looking for Jana, he was told by one of the extras that she had just "disappeared."

Michael dropped by the Winters pad to go over trial strategy with Dru and Neil. He wanted them to present a "moral" image. Dru took a nap, but woke up freaked out over her nightmare about Carmen.

Paul managed to pull the walkie-talkie through the bars and realized that Sheila had been listening to everything he and Maggie said. He pleaded with her to call an ambulance for Maggie. "Like you did for me?" she retorted. She said she had to go because there were "people to see." Paul screamed into the walkie-talkie, demanding that she come back. Realizing that Sheila wasn't going to return to her prison to rescue her captor, Maggie pointed out that Sheila's smart and had probably left town. But no, at that very moment, she was at Phyllis's door, face-to-face with her double. When Nick called to say he couldn't wait to come home, his "wife" said she couldn't wait either. But in reality, he was speaking to Sheila, while a bound and gagged Phyllis looked on in horror. Sheila used that crazy, singsong voice that's supposed to sound like Phyllis's and called Lauren, who volunteered that Michael wasn't home. Sheila convinced her to come over with the baby. But a sleepy, yawning Michael returned home earlier than expected, so Lauren said she'd stay home, too. Lauren called "Phyllis" to reschedule. They agreed to meet the next day. "She's not coming, so it looks like it's you and me," Sheila said to the real Phyllis before picking up Summer and cradling her.... At the warehouse, Maggie lost consciousness.

Sharon dropped by Drucilla's office to bring her a bag from Fenmore's which someone had sent to Dru. When Dru saw what was in the bag, she freaked: It was a duplicate of one of Carmen's blouses, one which Dru had cut up. Dru called Fenmore's to investigate who purchased the blouse. Bad news, it seemed to have been purchased with Dru's credit card, which she discovered was missing. Dru fretted to Sharon about the string of bizarre Carmen-related incidents. She remained convinced David was behind the mishaps, then admitted she saw someone who looked like Carmen. Dru called J.T. and hired him to look into the situation. J.T. called back to say Carmen's sister was in Texas, so she could not be the tormenter.

Neil came upon David rummaging around in the Newman Enterprises pantry and assumed he was on the premises to harass Dru. Neil threatened to have David thrown out, but Chow shut him up with the news that he now works there, too. He's the new liaison for Granville Global, which was purchased by Newman Enterprises last year. Neil quickly got on the horn, but David pointed out that it wouldn't look good if he got the murder victim's ex-fiancée kicked out of Newman on the eve of the trial. Talk turned to David's past with Carmen and he discussed his loveless marriage and how Ms. Mesta was basically driven out of town by his wife. David said letting her go was a decision he will regret for the rest of his life. Neil had warm flashbacks of Ms. Mesta. Later on, Neil broke the news about David's new job to Dru, who was just sick about it. Sharon offered to help Dru out by cozying up to Chow. Dru said no way and made Sharon promise to stay away from him. Sharon then made a beeline to the coffeehouse, where she attempted to play nice with Chow. David seemed guarded, but still asked her to join him for a cup. She agreed.

Adrian got testy when Colleen questioned him about the former student who had committed suicide. He rued getting involved with the girl, saying it was morally wrong and she should move on. Talk turned to Colleen's family. He asked why they are so secretive and nosed around for info on Rebecca, but Coll wisely clammed up. (She joked that her family were actually North Koreans.) He left in a snit. She went home and examined the object d'art with grandma Rebecca. Colleen told granny and newly arrived Victoria that she's moving in with Lily. "I don't think that's such a good idea," her stepmother replied. Colleen then snapped at her that she has broken up with Adrian — but then she went right back to him.

Nick surprised Phyllis with the news that he was spending the morning with her and Summer. He got busy trying to put together a mobile, which was not one of his best skills. Phyllis showed him a brand new digital camera for taking baby pictures. When Nick got ready to leave for his business trip, Phyllis promised that he'd have a surprise for him later and whispered something sexy in his ear. "Is that legal?" he asked with a smile. Smooching ensued.

Maggie awoke in the nursery/prison with Sheila on the other side of the bars (and in possession of Maggie's cell phone and gun). She identified herself as Phyllis, but Maggie knew she was lying. Sheila realized she hadn't used her "Phyllis voice," then launched into a kind of creepy impersonation of a giddy, sexy Phyllis. Paul phoned from Crimson Lights and left a message to find out why Maggie was a no-show for their date. After waiting around, Paul returned to the warehouse, gun in hand, and was shocked to see a gagged and bound Maggie in the nursery. Phyllis snuck up behind Paul, knocked him out, dragged him into the cell and escaped. Before leaving, she shot Detective Sullivan point-blank. When Paul came to, he ran to Maggie who was gravely wounded. "Oh, no!" he cried out. "Maggie! No!" "Who is that woman?" Sullivan weakly asked. "She's just a psychopath," explained Paul. Maggie recounted what happened to him as Sheila plotted her next move — it was time for her to go see Phyllis!

At Crimson Lights, Adrian confronted J.T. about looking into his background. J.T. said the articles came from Jana. "Get a clue," Adrian spat.

As Daniel got ready to go to the university, he and Lily cooed at each other and bad-mouthed Adrian. In the meantime, Brad was displeased by Victoria's news that his daughter is sleeping with the professor. At Crimson Lights, Colleen glibly shrugged off J.T.'s warning that Professor Korbel just may be a killer. They were interrupted by a call from Brad demanding that his daughter come home, but Coll said she was old enough to make her own decisions and blew him off, too.

At Newman Enterprises, Nikki and Victor happily reunited. Jack walked in and nosed around about Victor's trip, but Newman made up a story. Afterward, the Newmans wondered if he bought it. Later on, Jack told the Newmans that he’d come up with a way to expose Senator Bodi.

At the university, Daniel overheard Amber's phone conversation with Cane and teased her about her hard-to-get routine. He then called home to invite his wife to coffee, but Lily was once again busy listening to Colleen's romantic travails. Daniel sexily told the missus that he was looking forward to seeing her later (wink, wink). Amber heard and suggested he go to the coffeehouse with her instead. Over coffee, Daniel and Amber had a playful chat about her rather manipulative approach to men. He said he was glad Lily didn't play by the same rules as Ms. Moore. Amber then dragged him into a complicated scheme to get Cane to take her to a concert. (She had the tickets, but didn't want to be the one to do the inviting.)

J.T. Went to see Brad and Victoria and shared his suspicions that Adrian is a killer. Brad took off to the coffeehouse in the hopes of finding his daughter. She wasn’t there, so he phoned Lily, who lied that her pal wasn't at her place either. Meanwhile, Adrian was also looking for his favorite pupil.... Brad showed up at the Romalotti apartment, where Colleen gave up trying to dodge him. She launched into a defense of her teacher/lover. Brad maintained that seeing Adrian might endanger the family and revealed that he'd found the reliquary. While all this was going on, Adrian more or less barged into the Carlton house much to Victoria and Rebecca's dismay. He reported that Colleen's paper on the Grugeon collection was being published, even though she hadn't wanted that. Victoria and Rebecca subtly poked around for info about his interest in the Grugeon collection until Brad and Colleen came home. Adrian tried to quell Brad's anger by acknowledging that he'd crossed a line and promising not to do so again. Korbel left and Coll wasn't at all pleased. She chided her stepmom for blabbing to Brad, and ignored her father's insistence that Adrian might be connected with the bad people after the art.

Daniel showed up at Indigo with the concert tickets for Cane. He lied that he and Lily were going to go, but couldn't make it. Cane offered to pay for the prime seats, but Daniel declined. He returned to the coffeehouse (natch) where Amber was looking up Australian slang online and awaiting her invitation to the concert from Cane. After Daniel left, Amber spotted J.T. and questioned him about how things stand with Colleen. She encouraged him to keep his options open. Cane showed up with tickets to the Snow Patrol concert, playing into Amber’s sly little hands.

Kay and Jill went to Indigo, where they awaited word on the outcome of the DNA test and met Cane. Will arrived with the results. Jill opened the envelope and gasped — Phillip is not her son. (If only Maury Povich had been there.) Cane saw how thunderstruck she looked and offered her a drink. She said she'd like the name of a good travel agent so she could "leave this town and never come back." Kay was racked with remorse as her daughter hissed at her about the baby-switch. Kay sadly slinked away by herself.

At home, Daniel teasingly grilled Lily about any strategies she used to capture his interest. She claimed that she hadn’t needed tricks. Their sexy banter was interrupted by a text message from Amber (thanking Daniel for taking part in her shenanigans.) He lied to his wife that it was just some guy he knew and then smooching ensued.

Colleen went to see Adrian at the University. She apologized for her family’s actions, then handed him the article that J.T. gave her on Adrian finding the body of the girl who committed suicide. She added that Jana gave J.T. The article. Coll asked if he’d been having an affair with the girl, but he denied it. In the meantime, Brad was at the coffeehouse — again — asking a reluctant J.T. To keep an eye on Colleen.

Colleen and and a lovey-dovey Adrian awoke in bed together.... Victoria was relieved to hear from Brad, who phoned to report that they'd "closed the deal."... Colleen came home to change clothes and Victoria confronted her about spending the night with Adrian. Coll insisted that her professor/lover is not taking advantage of her, but her stepmother argued that his interest in the art collection might put the family in danger. Colleen stood her ground. Afterward, Brad and Victor arrived. When Colleen left, they showed the reliquary to Victoria and Rebecca.

Paul tended to an ailing Sheila, who had a low-grade fever and pleaded that she needed stronger antibiotics and should be hospitalized. They were interrupted when Maggie phoned Paul, who lied that he's on a stakeout. They agreed to meet later that afternoon. After they hung up, Ms. Sullivan pursued tracking Paul so that she could find out what he's really doing.... Back at the warehouse, Lauren came by and talked to Paul about getting more potent medication for the prisoner. Lauren pointed out to Sheila that she only wanted her to survive so that she can spend the rest of her life in prison. Lauren phoned her doctor with a phony story and scored a prescription for Sheila. Suggesting that Paul was depressed, she also left a couple of "happy pills" for him despite his protests. Later on, Sheila refused the antibiotics in the hopes that Paul would take her to a hospital. He forced the pill on Sheila, who bit his hand.

Michael informed the Winters clan that jury selection begins on Friday. Devon noted that Michael seemed distracted and he worried that his lawyer isn't focused on his case. The Winterses candidly took up the matter with Baldwin, who not-so-convincingly guaranteed that the only thing on his mind is the case. Dru fretted over her missing PDA. Her phone rang and Dru picked up to hear a threat from Carmen, but when Neil took the phone it was just an automated voice talking about how to get a coupon for merchandise.

At Crimson Lights, J.T. and Jana read an article about Adrian discovering the body of a girl who had committed suicide at his old school. They learned there was also a string of unsolved murders in the area and J.T. wondered if his rival was connected to the deaths. Korbel showed up at the coffeehouse and Jana eyed his briefcase.

Paul met up with Maggie at his place and smooching ensued. As she massaged his achy shoulders, Sullivan pried about his case and tried to get him to let her assist, but he said it was too dangerous. They went back to smooching, but she received a page and had to leave quickly. Afterward, J.T. phoned Paul and asked him to help investigate Adrian. Paul returned to the warehouse where Sheila violently attacked him. Oh, it was just a nightmare. A rattled Paul gulped down the pills Lauren had left.

When Adrian was distracted, Jana rifled his briefcase, but he caught her. She claimed that she'd just thought it was lost, but he doubted her and chewed her out. Colleen showed up to meet Adrian and awkwardness with J.T. ensued.... As Victoria filled in Brad on his daughter's relationship with Adrian, a bug planted in their living room picked up the conversation.

Maggie finally found the warehouse and broke in. Sheila cried and begged for help. Maggie rushed into the prison/nursery and Sheila overpowered her.
