Y&R Recaps Week of April 30, 2007

Friday, May 4, 2007
Victor was frustrated to realize he could trust Jack more than he could his own family and told Michael to hurry up and get proof that Jack owns Jabot, so he could quit this charade. Meanwhile, Jack and a newly-returned Ji Min caught up. Ji Min was amped up about bringing a Kim hair care line to the States under Jabot. He felt Jill could handle it, but Jack insisted it wasn't time to take a risk. "This is not a democracy, Ji Min," he said. "There will be no new line until I say so."

Amber was mortified when her credit card was denied at the GCAC and she and Cane didn't have any cash or money in the bank. He suggested they do dishes to pay for lunch and noted they could have eaten somewhere cheaper, but she wanted him to take the job with Katherine. "We'll clip some coupons, eat out less and do a lot less shopping," he said, but the more sense he made, the angrier she got. Daniel and Lily overheard and covered their check.

Kay was happy Jabot was in a good place, but still gave Jill trouble about her relationship with Ji Min. They also discussed Cane and the fact that Kay had to hire someone for the contractor's job by day's end. Later, Amber showed up to ask for a full-time job and snoop. When Katherine said Cane was proud and stubborn like his father, Amber said, "Sounds like you know how to relate to him." Katherine decided to take another go at hiring him. They tricked Cane by letting him "overhear" the trouble she was having with her contractors. He soon proved he was the man for the job and agreed to fill in as a favor, but only until she found someone else. Then he made a mysterious phone call and reported, "They practically had to beg me before I finally said yes...Langley, Langley, come on, mate, we have to be patient. We don't want to seem too eager."

Gloria and Kevin staged a "keys-locked-in-the-car" incident, hoping to get Will out of his office so she could return the tainted cream case file she'd stolen. That backfired, but they got Michael to call him away from his office. William was relieved to find it, but quickly noticed something was out of order. Michael, meanwhile, came home and told Lauren about Jack's owning Jabot and Victor's setting him up for a fall. She was in for any game that brought Jack down and immediately sat at the laptop to watch the Jabot "candid camera." What she found was Jill and Ji Min flirting in the board room. Jill was praising his work as they're "great leader." Then Ji Min brought up the hair care line and they decided to move forward with it. They talked promotion and packaging until Jack interrupted. With Lauren and Michael watching, Jack railed on Ji Min about "defying my orders" and told him to backtrack and when Jill returned, Ji Min made up a story to postpone the project. The voyeurs could see Ji Min wanted to tell her the truth, but he didn't do it. The video was inadmissible in court, but Michael saw potential. "Maybe I can use some of that negative energy to my advantage," he said, and reported to Victor. Unfortunately, that's when Gloria and Kevin walked on camera and Lauren overheard Gloria and Kevin discuss her tainting the cream. Oops! Meanwhile, Ji Min walked into the GCAC while Michael was filling Victor in. They cornered him and Victor told him he knew "Jack Abbott is your boss and owns the House of Kim...and owns Jabot Cosmetics...and he owns you. And you will help us bring him down."

Sharon wanted to take pregnant Victoria to the hospital. She said her cramping was heartburn, but then her doctor told her to come in for a check up. With no one else around to take her, Sharon insisted on doing it. Michael and Victor walked by, so Victoria covered. She told Sharon she didn't want anyone to know, but Sharon called Brad while she was with the doctor. When Brad took Victoria's hand, she let him. Then the doctor came in and said all was well. He asked her to get rest, and take an iron supplement and avoid stress. (Easier said than done!)

When Phyllis' arrest made the news, Victor wished their family could "stay out of the limelight for just one day." He and Nick agreed they had to keep her out of prison, but Victor wanted Phyllis to plead guilty for a plea. After Nick left, Michael arrived, insisting he couldn't discuss the case. He did suggest Victor get Brad to drop the charges, but left when Victor mentioned the plea. Next in the hot seat was Phyllis, who joined Victor for lunch. He was so empathetic that she didn't see his request that she plead guilty coming.

Jack called Michael about all the calls he was getting from the media and Michael asked him to stick to, "No comment." When Jack called to offer Phyllis support, Sharon showed up at the tack house. After some back and forth between the ladies, Phyllis apologized, but Sharon didn't accept. Instead, she needled her by asking who was going to raise Summer when she was in jail. "Grandma Nikki?"

Sick of the verbal beatings, Brad told Victoria that Nikki had forced him to report the extortion. Reasonably stunned, she went straight to her mother. An apologetic Nikki kept using her campaign to defend her actions, until Victoria shot, "Don't give me any nonsense about the heat of the campaign! You knew what you did. You used me." Nikki stood behind her decision and reminded her that "Brad was the problem here." Then she offered to help her daughter find a top divorce attorney. Victoria's next stop was her brother. She immediately tattled on their mom and Nick took that info straight to Phyllis. Finding the couple together, Michael shared the DA's plea bargain, which called for Phyllis to do jail time. After that, Nick went and lambasted his mom. Instead of making it better, she shot, "I have held my tongue for a very long time, but I'm just going to say it: Neither one of my children married well." He was annoyed that she wasn't taking responsibility for her actions, but she shrugged, "I like to think that I accomplished some good," and excused him.

After Jack and Brad had a mini showdown, Brad and Sharon shared an elevator ride. She was sure someone pushed him to file the complaint, but was as shocked as everyone to hear it was Nikki. Then she went to Jack and told him the news, just as "the godmother" herself walked in. "Just keep underestimating me, Nikki," Jack warned. "It'll only be better when I prove you wrong." Then, Sharon went to hash it out with Nick. She wondered "what kind of a mother or grandmother" would do such a thing and he agreed.

Finally, Victor learned of his wife's machinations from Victoria. Then he called Brad in and ordered him to drop the charges and give up his seat on the board. "You seem to care more about Jack than your own wife or your daughter," Brad noted, but agreed to consider his demands if he put on a "Vote for Nikki" button. Nikki walked in just as Victor reaffirmed that Jack was his candidate and she asked Brad to leave. When Victor reminded her that they both wanted to get Jack out of NVP, she countered, "Look, Jack repaid your loan. Strike one. You can't or won't prove that he owns Jabot. Strike two. Three and you're out. In the meantime, I'm batting 1.000 here. Why don't you come over and join my team?" Then, she faced Phyllis, who urged her to tell Brad to drop the charges for the sake of her family. "You should've thought of that then before you plunged the machete in my back," Nikki shrugged.

Brad brought his pregnant wife coffee — half decaf — as a peace offering. She handed it back and told him to make a fresh pot. "We'll go from there," she offered with little conviction. Then Sharon made her attempt at apologizing and Victoria blew her off. She turned to storm out and go home, but then she started cramping. "Something's wrong," Victoria said.

Kevin and Gloria bickered about William again and Michael joined in. "This man you're wooing, this is the same man who could charge you with murder," he warned her. When she went to see William (and snoop around), he got called away, so she did some real digging — and took a file! They met for lunch later, but first Michael had a moment with the DA. William warned that the clock was ticking on his plea offer. Then Gloria joined him for some flirting. Later, Gloria shared the file with Michael and Kevin. "There's DNA evidence from sweat in the gloves and autopsy notes," she reported. Michael was horrified that she'd stolen the file and Lauren almost caught on, but agreed to ignore it all — for now. Even Kevin knew better than to let Michael open the file, but Gloria won out. "I love it when we all pull together," she sighed. Unfortunately, Gloria was going to be subpoenaed for a DNA test.

Cuffed bride Phyllis begged for Michael's help, while Det. Sullivan insisted she was "just following orders." Phyllis screamed as she was pulled away from her new hubby and their baby. After she was fingerprinted at the station, she was allowed to see Michael and Nick, who joked that this would make a great wedding story. Michael was relieved that Phyllis had put nothing in writing. When D.A. William arrived, he refused to tell them who reported Phyllis, but he noted Brad was the victim before leaving. Michael followed, after telling Phyllis this felony could land her in jail. Nick tried to keep her spirits up, but then Sullivan told him it was time to leave. Phyllis sat alone in her wedding dress and cried until Michael returned to get her. Out on bail, she went back to Michael's pad, where Summer was sleeping, and Nick arrived right after. Michael turned talk to her defense and ordered her to stay quiet in front of the press. When she got home, Phyllis worried about missing much of Summer's life, like she had with Daniel. "It won't get that far," Nick promised. "Because I will tell Brad's history to the right people, and he'll be more than willing to cooperate." Nick didn't care that he'd get in trouble right along with Brad, but Phyllis insisted she'd handle the situation herself.

Nikki and Victoria didn't look surprised by the melee at the wedding, so Victor asked them to explain what was going on. They detailed the story of Phyllis' blackmail scheme, which they'd learned about the day before. Victoria insisted they hadn't reported her, but a calm Nikki remained mum. Later, she bragged to her campaign managers that her stripper scandal would be yesterday's news and they soon saw that the arrest was all over the Internet. The trio agreed it couldn't help Jack, since Clear Springs was central to his campaign, which meant he'd gain from his ex's extortion. They parted after Nikki agreed to give "no comments" to the press.

Victoria, meanwhile, ran into Brad at the office and accused him of turning Phyllis in. After her tirade about the "huge scandal" he'd created, she stormed out to see the corporate attorneys. Then she returned and complained some more. "I get why you kept it from me, but I'm surprised that you didn't think about how this would affect the company," she railed, adding that at least Neil was businessman enough to give up his ill-gotten board seat. Then she found Neil and asked him to step down, but he refused, despite her backhanded threats. "I'm not going to take one for the team this time," he insisted. Victoria's next stop was to interrupt a spat between Nick and Brad. After Brad left, Nick urged his sister to leave her hubby. "How much more does he have to do to show you he is a loser?!" he demanded.

Then Brad ran into Neil, who surprised him by saying, "I owe you." Neil again insisted he'd fight to keep his seat and warned, "If it comes to that, it's going to get ugly." Victor empathized with Neil when he ran into him, wishing Victoria had never met Brad. "If that man thinks I'm going to sit by and just take it, he's deluding himself," Victor warned.

Brad found Victoria to offer her a ride home. She gave him the cold shoulder and told him his perspective was selfish. "You made a big decision, yet again, without bothering to talk to me," she said. "You put Newman Enterprises at risk and you ruined my brother's wedding day!" He countered that the timing wasn't his fault, so she stormed out. Angry, he went to see Nikki, who turned out to be the cold, calculating brain behind his actions. She had, in essence, blackmailed him into doing it. After he left her, she called David back in and gave him permission to use Phyllis' case against Jack. "It's very sad that Victoria will be yet another victim of extortion," she sighed coolly. "But I just don't think that Jack Abbott deserves a free ride."

Arriving home with Sharon and Jack, Noah complained about having to go to the reception. The couple's make out session was interrupted by a call from Brad with news on the arrest and his part in it. Sharon was angry with Brad's move and when Jack returned from helping Noah, she filled him in. "The only reason you're telling me [about the blackmail] is because I'd have found out elsewhere. A pattern here, maybe?" he stormed. She swore there was no more to the story, apologized for disappointing him and swearing she was committed to him. Then Noah interrupted. They covered for why the party was cancelled and distracted him with his new book, agreeing to meet him upstairs to read it to him. Jack told Sharon the conversation was done and followed Noah, so he was upstairs when Victor arrived. When he came down, he and Victor discussed how the arrest might affect his campaign, but then Jack asked to table the conversation till the morning. Sharon assumed Jack and Victor were "afraid to talk in front of" her, but Jack just made a smart comment about the fact that at least Noah still trusted her. Then, their concern for Noah helped them move forward. When Sharon suggested they go to bed, however, Jack went home.

Michael and Lauren prepped the honeymoon suite for Phyllis and Nick, stocking it with goodies like ice cream, video games and edible body paint. They were flirty and fun until Phyllis called nervous about Nick, who seemed to be avoiding her. "He's thinking of calling the whole thing off!" she feared. Michael came over to talk her down and insisted she was "catastrophizing." Nick, meanwhile, was "drowning his sorrows" and figuring out how to make things work for good. "If you want that, then you may as well buy a dog," Victor quipped. Nick outlined why he loved Phyllis, but admitted he was having second thoughts.

Sharon and Jack worked to keep Noah's spirits up, but then Jack made the mistake of telling him about adding the basketball court and a superhero bedroom to the Abbott estate. "It's like he wants us to live here or something," Noah guffawed. (Ouch!) He got even more upset when he realized Sharon wasn't going to the wedding with him and stormed out, refusing to go. Sharon wished his therapy was helping more, but Jack wasn't worried. Then they agreed to go to the wedding, so Sharon shot over to the tack house to get two invites. Unfortunately, with Nick MIA, she had to ask Phyllis. Michael played peacekeeper as the ladies flashed stiff smiles and agreed that the kids always come first. Then Nick returned, so after a few more uncomfortable interchanges, Michael and Sharon left the couple alone. Nick covered for his absence, saying he was doing some emergency shopping and gave Phyllis a wedding gift — the new video game she'd been dying for, symbolic of how they fell for each other. He said he loved her, they made love and they were back on track.

The wedding was also weighing on Lily and Daniel. When Dru's grieving daughter snottily promised to behave, Daniel told her she could ditch the event. Then he went to Phyllis and told her his wife was coming down with something. Phyllis was understanding and impressed with the kind of hubby he was. Nick, meanwhile, went to pick up Noah, who announced he didn't want to move in with Sharon. Nick tried to change his mind, but Noah wanted Jack to move to the ranch, so Nick tabled the conversation until after the wedding.

Victor swore he'd get Nikki's video off the Internet, but Nikki remained calm about the whole thing, knowing it was a moot effort. Then David showed up and Victor was disgusted to learn he was Nikki's new campaign manager. Victor demanded she fire him, but Nikki wouldn't be riled. Before he left, she calmly told him, "You are confusing love with control." Then she had a sit down with her campaign team, David and Karen, who felt the video could work for her image of a woman who worked her way up, unlike her spoiled opponents. David added that Sharon was Jack's Achilles heel.

Jack was the first one to church. With a pained look on his face, he flashed back to his own happy wedding day with Phyllis. Things only got worse when Victor arrived and told him Nikki hired David. "They wonder why chivalry is dead," Jack marveled. Victor told him he still had to play fair — and still had to win. After that, folks started trickling in. Daniel was touched to find Lily there and Lauren and Michael remembered their own special day. Catty Nikki and Victoria told Nick he could still cancel the wedding, but agreed that it was nice to see him happy. Victor, meanwhile, stopped in on the bride to welcome her to the family. He was followed by Jack, and he and Phyllis tearfully wished each other the best. Then Daniel interrupted to get the show started. He took his mom's arm and they left Jack behind. The wedding went smoothly, but then Phyllis stopped it to address the group and thank them for being her family. "When I say 'I do,' I'm basically saying it to everyone," she concluded. Then, the couple exchanged rings (Phyllis' was bright pink!), while several guests looked like they might cry, vomit or scream. In fact, the bride and groom were the only happy faces in the room as they were pronounced hubby and wife.

As everyone packed up for the reception, Noah dropped the bomb that he wanted to move in with Victor and Nikki, instead of Jack, but that talk was again tabled. Then Phyllis thanked Michael and Lauren for their support and they giggled together. As Michael gave her a congratulatory hug, Det. Sullivan walked in. "You're under arrest for extortion," she told Phyllis, as a uniformed officer cuffed her.

Between the family drama and the minister's absence, Nick and Phyllis' wedding rehearsal was a flop. Angry over Phyllis' blackmail scheme, Nikki excused herself, citing a campaign emergency, and Victoria used her pregnancy as an excuse. Dinner was just Victor, Michael, Lauren and Noah, and the tension between Phyllis and Nick was palpable. When Lauren offered to help with last minute details, Phyllis insisted she and Nick could handle it, but Nick said it was a good idea. He hung with Noah while the girls went over everything. Then Noah interrupted by insisting he wanted to sleep at his mom's and after the guys left, Phyllis had a freak out session with Lauren. The tough-as-nails broad admitted she was afraid to find out what Nick was feeling.

Jack convinced Sharon that the news about their wedding wouldn't hurt his campaign. David showed up to tell them their wedding had already been leaked, but Jack insisted their marriage was no scandal and that "another juicy scandal is coming along and it's going to steal our thunder." That's when Victoria's Internet surfing crashed into footage of her mother stripping. Nikki revealed that as much as she'd love for Nick to stop his wedding, her campaign manager, Karen, said it would be good for her image. Karen explained the party photos would depict an image of "the glamorous, unified Newmans." Needless to say, the sexy footage posted on viewclips.net created a different image! Nikki and Victoria called Victor away from the rehearsal dinner and he calmly threatened to find the person responsible. The clips were getting thousands of responses, but Nikki told Victor to stay away from Jack, insisting it was all politics. Later, when Sharon arrived and swore Jack wasn't involved, Nikki and Victoria were snotty with her. "People wonder whether I miss being in the Newman family," Sharon smiled. "I'd take the public scrutiny over being Jack's wife over that any day, because the press couldn't possibly be any nastier than the two of you."

Jack, meanwhile, was furious with David for leaking the footage. "Nikki's dance moves will be the talk of the town and your marriage won't be. Goal accomplished," David shrugged, but Jack reminded him how supportive Victor had been. Then Jack fired him! David warned that he'd "regret this on election night." The upside was that Victor overheard and told Jack he had integrity. Of course, when Victor reported back to his ladies, they didn't buy Jack's innocence. When David came by, Nikki hired him!

Back at the Abbott manse, Sharon and Jack talked about moving in together again and Jack revealed his plans to make Noah feel at home. All that positive energy fizzled when Nick called from Sharon's place saying Noah wanted to sleep there. When she found Jack to excuse herself, he was talking to John. (She understood, but then, she didn't know John was answering back!) When she left to be with her son, a smiling John said, "Well Jackie, this is going to be a full house again, only with your family." When Sharon told Nick the news about moving in with Jack, he wasn't worried about Noah. "To Noah, home is wherever you are," he said. Then he opened up about Phyllis' admission, and revealed he was "not okay with it." Surprisingly, Sharon insisted he and Phyllis would work things out like she and Jack had.

Gloria researched DNA to prepare for the repercussions of D.A. William's tainted cream case, but Kevin insisted all she had to do was stay clear of William, per Michael's advice. He added that if she needed more scheming assistance, "I'm off the team." Then William showed up for Gloria's "homemade" dinner. She excused Kevin, but he decided to stick around. When she brought up the investigation, Kevin asked why Will didn't spend his time investigating J.T., who'd beaten him up in front of the entire coffee shop. Gloria shushed him and sent him to check on dinner, but he knew it was takeout, so he just turned the page of his magazine. She then sent Will to get ice, giving her time to reprimand her son and swear she could fall for this guy. "Just so that you could stay out of prison," Kevin snorted and Gloria shamelessly agreed. After dinner, she brought up the reopening of the case and told William she was worried it would create more bad press, but Will was determined to find justice for the woman who'd died. Then Michael came home and busted up the party. William excused himself, leaving Michael to fume. "Have you lost what little common sense you have?" he snarled. "If you keep asking William about Jabot, you might as well wear a neon sign that says 'Investigate me!'" When William returned, having forgotten his jacket, the guys left their mother to do the right thing...but Will kissed her before she got the chance. She told Will she had a dream they were married, laughing it off, but saying it felt good to be that happy.
