Y&R Recaps Week of July 23, 2007

Neil learned that Nikki and Victor were separated, as did Katherine and Jack. Kay was sorry to hear about it. "Compromise is not in my husband's vocabulary," Nikki said. Kay insisted Nikki stay at her house. Nikki made it clear that she left him. David arrived with a fax and then beat a hasty retreat. Kay wondered why David was still hanging around. Nikki explained that she had hired him. "Really?" Kay inquired.

Phyllis ran into Nick at the Crimson Lights. Nick said he'd be at Phyllis' side in the courtroom, and she was quite grateful. Michael explained that the only reason Nick would be supporting her was because Michael guilt-tripped him earlier. Phyllis was visibly upset but pretended not to care.

Cane reported at the meeting that methane was found at the proposed Clear Springs building site. Many questions were asked. Victor wondered who was at fault. "Mother Nature?" Nikki quipped. Everyone was curious as to how their specific properties would be affected. Jack suggested "we blast the whole damn thing." Nikki didn't like that idea. Nick thought the plan was to restore, not to destroy. Victor thought some buildings could be saved, but destroy the rest. Michael wanted the methane mitigation costs incorporated in all the costs. Jack blamed it on Nikki, or more specifically her buildings. Victor suggested they pick the best option and move on. He then left the meeting. Nick ran into Sharon on his way out. Nick suggested they put off the shoot for a little longer so he could go with her. Flirting ensued. Phyllis told Sharon that she wouldn't be going away on a photo shoot with "her husband."

As Daniel finally came clean about his summer drama, A devastated Lily asked, "Where did my husband go?" Daniel claimed he wanted to be a good husband, but Lily said it was too late. Kevin barged in with news that Amber had been kidnapped. Lily began to call the police but Daniel and Kevin forbid it. Daniel brought Lily to Neil's office with news of the break-in at the apartment, and told Neil that Devon had been hit over the head. Lily went out to lunch with her dad, where she remained frustrated over the state of her life. Cane didn't think Amber was really kidnapped. Kevin and Daniel thought it was for real, and asked for Cane's help. Kevin explained he knew about Cane and Amber's faux marriage. The boys then told Cane about Plum's suitcase filled with money. Daniel, Cane and Kevin realized the money that had been buried in Katherine's yard was gone. "Every last dollar," Daniel said. Cane and Kevin thought Amber had taken the money, while Daniel thought she might be in trouble. Kevin grabbed a gun. "Okay, I'm ready," he told the others.

Neil told his daughter she deserves better than Daniel. Lily agreed she was hurting a great deal. "Daniel is lucky he still has his job," she told her father. Neil asked Lily and Devon to move back home. "I'll just bet Daniel hasn't told you everything," Neil said. Neil accompanied Lily to her apartment. He called Devon and invited him to come home. Lily left Daniel a note before she headed to Neil's house.

Nick admitted that Michael had guilted him into going to Phyllis' trial. Phyllis began crying and said she hoped someday Nick would remember the passion and fun (and great sex) they had in their relationship. "It's like I'm some moral cross you have to bear. You don't remember that you ever loved me?" she asked him. Nick just replied that he'd be there for her at the trial. "You don't have to. I don't want you there. Do me a favor — stay away," Phyllis shot as she left the office.

What did Lily take when she left the house she shared with Daniel?

Devon regained consciousness and told Lily and Daniel he'd come home, unlocked the door and when he went to turn on the light, he was knocked out. After he refused to go to the hospital, they started guessing at why someone trashed the house but took nothing. Later, they filled Detective Maggie in, suggesting it could be frat boy revenge, but she didn't buy that. After asking about drugs activity, she explained, "I think somebody was here looking for something specific, like drug money or a stash." Before leaving, she asked them to leave the mess so it could be processed for prints and such. Daniel was so worked up that Lily eventually figured out something was up. "It's too late...I can't fix it," he stuttered and then went into a monologue about when he started "hating myself and trying to destroy everything that means something to me!" He admitted to everything he'd done, including Plum and the money, and revealed he sees Lily walking away from him.

Amber was sobbing at Cane, trying to convince him that while she's picked him for his name and money, she'd fallen for him. "I will do a pre-nup, post-nup, anything you want! I just wanna be with you!" she begged, but she wasn't getting anywhere and a panicked call from Daniel just made things worse. "You helped him screw over his wife, he helps you screw over your husband. Maybe you're just screwing each other," Cane spat with a smile. He told her he despised her more than he loved her and then went to beat the punching bag. Meanwhile, Carson told Kevin he'd been robbed and then asked after the Crimson Lights security. He wondered why his room was trashed, imagining it had to be related to Plum. Kevin played it cool and suggested Carson hire a PI. Then he got a call from Daniel about the break in, and included Carson in the convo, still Mr. Cool. Then he went home, where he found Amber crying in the hallway and invited her in to calm down. They bonded over the fact the "better to have loved and lost" quote wasn't true and Amber revealed Cane was the first "Ken" who didn't just want to get into her Barbie pants. Kevin set her up on his couch for the night and went to the coffeehouse to meet with his connection at the hospital, who he was paying for full reports on Jana. When he came home, his place was trashed and Amber was gone. He found a note that said, "We have Amber. Get the money. Await further instructions. No Cops."

Michael prepared Phyllis and Nick for the trial, going over both behavior and apparel. Nick wasn't amused when Phyllis joked about giving the judge a lap dance, but it was even more uncomfortable when he told her, "Don't worry about Summer, okay? I'll take care of her." Translation: He expects his wife to end up in prison. When Nick left, he ran into Brad, who was on cloud nine. "You can't shed the Newman monkey house the way I have," he bragged. "Your father, a dictatorial bully. Your mother, willing to sacrifice her daughter's marriage on the altar of her own political ambitions. It's quite Shakespearean." When he left, Nick talked with Sharon, who was nervous about her testimony. He suggested she get out of town until her day in court. Of course, he was going to go with her, but promised, "Phantom Guy recognizes and respects the current marital status of the Blonde Avenger." That plan gave her an out when Brad asked if she wanted to hang out during the trial. Sharon couldn't believe his good mood, but he noted his divorce and the hearing were good things.

Phyllis was even more nervous after jury selection, but Michael was "not unhappy with them." He gave her a B+ for her performance, having taken off for her lack of supportive "entourage." She said Daniel would make the trial, but he insisted Nick had to be there too. She laughed off all the stares she was getting at lunch, but was worried about how to get Nick to come through, so she called him right away. That's when he told her he was heading out of town with Sharon. She rushed to hang up before she lost her cool, only to have Sharon and Brad show up together. After much barb throwing in both directions, they excused themselves and Phyllis ended up at the bar with Cane. They made their introductions, while Michael surprised Nick at the office. He railed against him for planning on missing the trial and laid on a pretty decent guilt trip.

At the hospital, Jana stared at her warped reflection and talked to herself. She assumed the tumor was the cause of her fear, since she'd never felt fear before, and then repeatedly begged someone to believe her. (Not that anyone was there.) Kevin, who was talking to Michael and Paul, was sure she would use the brain tumor to excuse her actions and asked Paul to research her past. "I don't doubt for a second that she's a lunatic. But I can guarantee that it has nothing to do with any brain tumor," he insisted. Paul and Michael decided to go talk to her, without Kevin, but Jana kept asking for Kevin and refused to talk to anyone but him. When she went to get an MRI, Paul told an angry and protective Michael that Kevin would have to be involved, so the guys stood protectively behind Kevin while he and Jana talked. She was all over the place, but he finally got some info from her and immediately went home and called her old neighbor too see if she'd shown signs of the tumor. Paul had better luck, learning she'd been waitressing under the name Lizzy Borden and by all accounts was acting strange already. Kevin was sure it was a set up.

JT called Victoria out on being in a bad mood over signing her divorce papers, but she downplayed it. He came with her for moral support and waited outside while she met with Brad. The scene was surprisingly civil as they signed the papers. They laughed over their situation, bonded over Abby and even discussed the baby on the way. "No hostility," Victoria told JT afterward, but she was still depressed about the failed marriage. He blew bubbles for her and explained, "You're starting your life over with childlike enthusiasm." She praised him for liking to have fun, unlike never-smiling Brad, who actually happened to be smiling at that very moment. After signing the papers, he got right on the phone and called Logan for a drink to celebrate her new job at Memorial and his divorce.

Amber and Daniel were stressed about Carson, sure he wanted Plum's money. Amber thought they could play dumb, but Daniel wanted to get Kevin's input because "he's better at dealing with this kind of stuff." When they found him, he was too into Jana to help, but they yelled at him until he agreed to do some online snooping and they learned Carson is "a serious badass." They surmised that he was desperate for the money so he could make a getaway before he landed in jail.

Devon came home to find Lily studying up on Daniel's sex addiction and rolled his eyes. "You're too good of a person to be tied to a guy like Daniel," he said, insisting the marriage was caput. She appreciated his protectiveness, but met up with Daniel at work and offered him her help. He suggested they go on a couples retreat and when she responded well, he got them signed up and on the move. When they got home, however, the house was trashed and Devon was unconscious.

Cane called a liquor store that had surveillance footage of Amber walking into the wedding chapel with Ali, instead of him, on their wedding night. When his mom came in, he played his mood off as work-related, so she let him off the hook. Then Amber came in and hung all over him, but he wasn't responsive. Jill told Amber her big wedding news and while the ladies caught up, Cane scowled in the background. When Jill left, Cane started in on Amber. He said he was sorry he couldn't remember their wedding and suggested they go do it again in Vegas, "maybe the same chapel, the same minister. Maybe do it right this time, take some pictures." Then he figured she wanted a big Chancellor manse wedding and she got excited. He interrupted her planning by grabbing her face and kissing her. Then he said, "I know everything," and showed her the photo of her and Ali. She started crying and stuttering that she could explain, but he just talked over her, saying, "You knew I was a Chancellor before you tricked me into marrying you. I feel like such a chump. I really believed that you loved me." She swore repeatedly that she did, but he insisted she only loved being a Chancellor. He only raised his voice once and before walking away, he calmly revealed, "I thought I'd seen every con in the book. But you really got me good. I fell for a girl that doesn't exist."

Victor refused to sign Nikki's loan papers; he seemed more interested in Zapato the wonder dog. Nikki accused her husband of being a man who couldn't deal with an independent woman. She left and complained to David about Victor's change of heart. David agreed that Victor's actions were personal. Nikki placed a call to her loan officer at the bank. David gave Nikki a pretty gift and a dinner invitation. She declined the invitation, claiming that she's not interested in getting involved with another man, but if she were, "You'd be at the top of the list," she glowed. David ordered some faux champagne. Nikki shared that she had always had another loan in place, in case Victor changed his mind. David accused Nikki of enjoying taking Victor on. "Tell me you don't love doing battle" with him, he teased. "Good night, David," Nikki replied as she opened the door to see him out. At the athletic club, Karen was saying the exact same thing to Victor. "You enjoy having her as an adversary," she said of Nikki. Later, Victor paid Nikki a visit. He knew about her other loan. Victor changed his mind and insisted that she take the money from him and wouldn't take no for an answer. "Good doing business with you," he said as he left her hotel room.

Brad met Logan in the elevator and thanked her for saving Nicholas' life. The elevator jammed. Logan began to freak out and started taking off her clothes. Brad did too. Logan tried to stay calm. Brad offered her a foot rub but clarified that he wasn't hitting on her. Brad massaged her foot as Logan started asking him questions about his marriage. The elevator doors opened, Brad and Logan got dressed and the two went out to dinner. There, Logan asked questions about the Phyllis situation and the affair he had with Sharon. Logan worried that she wouldn't figure out how everyone in Genoa City was involved with each other. Brad warned that she would never hear a nice word about Phyllis come out of his mouth.

Carson was thrilled to meet Amber and made reference to her fabulously sexy Web site. She pretended not to know what he was talking about, but the moment she realized who he was, she began explaining that the site had been a class project. Amber ran to Daniel and Kevin and told them about seeing Carson. She panicked about what Cane would do when he learned about the video she had made while in L.A. Carson bonded with Cane over Plum's demise. Daniel, Kevin and Amber decided to break into Carson's room to get the scoop on him. While Daniel and Amber went snooping in Carson's room, Kevin bought drinks for Carson and Cane at the bar. Carson was surprised that Kevin knew Plum had died of a broken neck. Amber was horrified to discover a file with info on her, Kevin and Daniel. Carson flirted with a girl at the bar and impressed the other men with the slick way he got her phone number. The three men toasted Plum, while Daniel and Amber panicked over the contents of the file. Amber wanted to steal it, but Daniel didn't think that was such a good idea. Then Amber found a bullet in Carson's drawer.

Nicholas and Phyllis came home, and the sexual tension was palpable. Nick didn't know where to put his things. Phyllis said they had talked about adding on another room. Summer began to cry. Phyllis went through the house step by step and explained to Nicholas where everything went. Nicholas flirted with Phyllis and she blushed in response. Later that night, Phyllis came down to watch Nick sleep. Nick woke up. "Do you mind if I join you?" Phyllis said, as she slipped her nude body out of her robe and began kissing him. "I'm beginning to see why I married you," he replied. Even so, Nick stopped the tryst.

Michael mentioned the new acting DA to Gloria and promised to do what he could to lock Jana up. After some heart-to-heart over William's death, they worried about Kevin, who was visiting Jana. Kev was short with his hospitalized ex as he cooed that he hoped his testimony would earn her the death penalty. She wanted sympathy over her brain tumor, which might kill her before she ever got to trial, but he shrugged, "I don't care how you get there. It's the destination that counts." After a break, Jana returned to find Kevin reading her journal. She explained it was a medical journal. Then she started panicking, insisted her face was flushed and her heartbeat rapid. Kevin stared in disbelief at her performance, but she didn't give up the desperation. "Kevin, you have to help me. I've got no one else." When he got home, he told his already worried mom and Michael that Jana "looks terrified. I need to find out everything I can about how to treat her condition." Cue brain tumor factoids. But when Kevin said he'd contacted a doc about a new treatment, his family lost their patience. They claimed he was "obsessed," but he swore he was only fighting to save her so she could "spend the rest of her life in prison, dying slowly."

Carson interrupted Amber and Cane to tell them he'd learned Plum was dead. Amber tearfully overreacted, so Cane asked Carson for time alone. After Carson got her number, he left Cane to question her. She admitted the body in the morgue might have been Plum and afterward went straight to Daniel and Kevin. Daniel tried to walk away, but Kevin wouldn't let him. Then Carson called and Amber agreed to meet him at the athletic club. Before she left, Daniel freaked over having to lie to Lily again and warned Amber that Cane would find out everything soon. Then he went home to 'fess up to Lily, who wasn't receptive to hearing another version of the truth. "I'm gonna make this go away," he promised and called Michael. Michael got right on the case, making a call and telling the DA Daniel was going to sue for false arrest. Daniel was over the moon when Michael called to tell him he'd gotten the charges dropped. Lily was convinced there was no prostitute action, but still worried that he was in a strip joint to begin with. He insisted getting arrested was a wake-up call and when she said he had a problem, he replied, "That's what I've been telling you. This isn't about you."

In the midst of talking business (and somewhat out of left field), Jill accepted Ji Min's marriage proposal. They toasted with coffee, remembering how Gloria's spiked coffee started their affair. When Cane showed up at work, his mother told him she and Ji Min were going to get hitched. Then she cooed over how well he worked with his grandmother, before recapping how finding him had started with a psychic reading that Amber was at! He didn't like hearing about her involvement, so while Amber met with Carson — who revealed he'd recognized her from her sexy Web site — Cane found an old Internet posting she'd put up searching for him and flashed back to all Amber's lies over the past few months.

Meanwhile, Nick and Sharon talked about Victor and Nikki's breakup. Nick worried his father was out of control and grumbled over him and David. Sharon countered that Victor didn't know how to "deal" with Nikki's newfound independence and suggested the pair just might need time apart. She concluded it was their problem, either way, and that Nick already had enough on his plate. Then talk turned to Cassie's Challenge — and flirting. Phyllis didn't like walking in on that, and she wasn't thrilled that Sharon didn't want her input on the event. "We're about to be on opposite ends of a trial pretty soon," Sharon explained, but Phyllis argued that scandal pulls people in. When she had Nick alone, she continued her argument, laughing, "I am a walking, talking accident that everybody wants to look at." He got her message, but told her to leave it to him and Sharon. Phyllis went to see Jack. He laughed off her concerns about Nick and Sharon, confident his marriage was solid. She reminded him that it was Nick who'd dumped Sharon and warned, "If I go to jail, my husband is fair game for your wife." With this in mind, Jack asked Sharon to move the date of the benefit so he could come. She said she'd ask Nick to do it. After that, Phyllis ran into a snippy Sharon on the elevator. Jack boarded next and had to watch them fight over Nick. When Phyllis insinuated Sharon had ulterior motives, Sharon rolled her eyes, but Jack didn't seem convinced, so he checked Nick's story. He found out Phyllis was right about why Nick picked the dates, but that it was too late to change them, so he surprised Sharon, Phyllis and Nick with an offer to host the benefit at the Abbott manse. Sharon said she "loved" the idea, while Nick met Jack's eyes meaningfully.
