Y&R Recaps Week of August 6, 2007Friday, August 10, 2007 Daniel popped into Jack's office to beg for a job. He didn't want to be an unemployed felon in the eyes of the judge. Jack thought it was interesting that Neil had fired him. Neil charged into the meeting and told Jack that he and Nikki needed to find a solution to the methane problem. Daniel told Neil he "works here" when Neil told Daniel to stop hanging around the office building. Lily told Devon about her middle of the night meltdown over the breakup of her marriage. "The night of a thousand mood swings," she said. Lily asked Devon to help her finish packing up her stuff in the apartment. Daniel showed up and grabbed his bags, promising to be gone in two seconds. Devon and Lily began arguing when Devon called Daniel a jerk. Daniel said he was sorry for everything and thanked them for packing up his stuff. Lily looked heartbroken. Neil came home and asked how Lily was. Lily was grumpy and snapped at her dad. Neil gave Devon the rest of the day off. Lily continued to snap at anything Devon tried to say to cheer her up. She said she didn't want to treat the marriage as if it had never happened. "I'd rather be divorced than nullified," she said. Devon said he understood. Lily asked Devon to tell her some good things about her soon-to-be-over marriage, and then asked Devon to find her a date.
Gloria planned to meet Jeffrey at the Athletic Club. She told Michael she wanted to find out everything about him. Gloria admitted to Jeffrey she was
surprised William never told her about him. Gloria asked him about his travels and flirted shamelessly with him. "I'm used to men complimenting my eyes," she said fluttering her eyelashes. Gloria called Michael with a newsflash — "He's a criminal." She asked her son to run a check on Jeffrey. Michael said he would after he tended to the far more pressing things on his calendar.
Thursday, August 9, 2007 Ji Min and Jill were flushed and naked in bed, but with the romp over, Jill could only think about her mother. Ji Min suggested she get to Kay by "amassing your own fortune," and proposed they start their own company. Jill was on board and when she got to the memorial, she told her mom she was moving out. Kay quipped that she hoped Jeff would steal her away from Ji Min and then she let into her. Jill didn't lose her patience and calmly dropped the bomb about her new biz venture, so Kay went straight to see Ji Min. He figured she was in trouble losing her top Jabot execs, but she warned he was in over his head and offered to cut him a check to walk away. He smiled and ultimately asked for $2.5 million. She wrote a check and listed the conditions. As soon as she got to staying away from Jill, however, he tore it up with another big self-satisfied smile. He enjoyed telling Jill about it. "Isn't she a walking cliché," Jill guffawed while bemoaning having a controlling mother. Ji Min revealed he came from a tough dad, himself, sighing, "He did enjoy belittling me." Jill left him to have it out with her mom. She was so angry she decided she was going to find Phillip's real mother. Amber and Daniel sat on a couch, caught between moping and depletion. They had a pseudo competition about who's life was worse and then Daniel suggested they make the most of what might be their last night of freedom by going to Indigo. That's where Cane said he had a hot date, so Amber got "fantastic" in a micro-mini dress and boots before they left. Of course, Cane had no hot date, but he was there drowning his sorrows alone. Over at Crimson Lights, Lily was equally down and out, so Colleen suggested they "dress to thrill, go to Indigo, flirt shamelessly with anything that zips at the crotch...And then, when they ask for our phone numbers, we give them phony ones." When they got there looking fab, they joined Cane instead. Amber blanched when she saw Cane with Lily, but Daniel went right to a table so she followed. Lily wanted to leave, but Cane insisted they could win the game. "If you look into my eyes the way I'm looking at yours, Daniel will eat his heart out," he said, so she did. She felt silly, but then went with it and touched his hand seductively. Amber wanted to get even, but Daniel said she couldn't since their exes didn't care about them. He walked over to Lily and handed her his keys to the house, agreed to not contest the divorce and apologized. Amber questioned Cane about Lily and pushed him to get over it and forgive her, so he finally warned, "If you're smart, you will stay away from me. Because you do not want me as your enemy. You got it?" Neil and Karen were flirting nearby, but Neil was called away to a bartending emergency. He was stuck serving drinks while awaiting a bartender, so the kickboxing pro impressed him with yet another skill — bartending! She even knew how to make a purple hooter, but Neil said her recipe was off. They decided to each make one and let the customer decide. He said Neil's was right, but hers was better. Then they talked about his memories of Dru.
Wednesday, August 8, 2007 Jack talked to Neil about the honeymoon he was thinking of finally taking with Sharon. Neil was glad to hear "Nick backed off," and Jack was touched to hear Neil had stood up for him by asking Nick to stand down. Meanwhile, Nick again used the oft-aborted Clear Springs shoot to suggest a getaway with Sharon. Sharon explained that though she knew the trip would be harmless, it would make Jack uncomfortable. "That's a never," she said. When Nick ran into Jack, he revealed how Sharon had protected his feelings, so Jack asked Sharon about it. He wasn't pleased to hear she had agreed to go on the trip that had been canceled without asking him — especially with her ex who was in love with her. She promised her new hubby she wouldn't hurt him. Daniel opened up to Nick about his recent dramas and failures. "Things change," Nick promised and asked how he could help. Before Daniel could ask Nick to get him his job back, Neil walked in and told him to pack up and get out. He said he knew what Daniel was up to with Nick and insisted he leave. Then he filled Nick in on the breach of security caused by Daniel's porno habit. Nick got it. Then Amber showed up and asked Neil for a gig singing at Indigo, but he said no way. Before leaving, she insisted she wasn't a bad person. Then she and Daniel commiserated in the lunch room. She wished she could take all her recent decisions back. She asked Daniel to talk to Cane and then suggested they help each other. "I can't even help myself right now," he shrugged, so she went to see Cane herself. He listened to her trailer girl story, about the cool girls messing with her by getting her to swipe a magazine and then laughing because she'd stolen Town and Country. She continued that she was laughed at countless time after that, but then she fell for Cane and losing him was the worst pain ever. He felt her story just proved all she cared about was his house and money, so she handed him a signed note clarifying that none of his money was hers and it never would be. She begged him to let her be a better person. He told her to stop begging and kissed her roughly, pushing her against the wall. Later, a fully clothed Cane looked down at Amber, who was undercover on the couch and dozing in the afterglow of sex. She cooed and sidled up to him, but he coldly asked how many guys she'd been with. "Tell me how if feels to be played by someone you think loves you," he whispered. "Now you know how I felt." He said he had a hot date and kicked her out. Lauren tended to Gloria, who was stressed about William's memorial and sorry he had no family attending. When Gloria showed up at the club, however, she was raring to go in a fire-engine-red dress. She asked Jack to leave, since he wasn't on the invite list, but after some barb throwing, he refused. She crowed over the power of money and told him again to get out. Meanwhile, Michael and Heather discussed the DA and Jana's case. Heather was concerned that Michael hadn't told Kevin he was helping the DA's office with the case. She also reminded him not to talk to Jana without a lawyer, but he went ahead and did it anyway. When he arrived, she was repeating "I love you, Kevin" to a chair, each time with different intonations. He went home and filled Lauren in, insisting it was an act, but Lauren wondered if he could be wrong. Michael found the timing of her "illness" far too convenient and went to talk to Daniel. After giving Daniel a "learn from your mistakes" pep talk, he decided to wait on talking about Kevin and walked him out. Daniel went to see Nick, who said he would have fired him too. Nick also said he'd help Daniel try to change his stripes, however. Daniel promised if Nick helped him, he'd carry it forward and help someone else one day. Meanwhile, in order to help Neil detox from all the crazy kids around him, Karen got him into boxing gloves. She teased him for going light, so he hit hard and accidentally hurt her. She laughed it off and then attacked with kicks until he fell over some workout equipment. William's memorial service turned into a Genoa City who's who. It occurred to Maggie that the donor for William's secret DNA test was probably there, since she'd assumed he's been protecting someone close (like his new wife!). Lauren took the chance to warn Kevin about Jana, while Michael toasted Heather and reaffirmed his suspicion that Jana was faking. Unfortunately, Kevin overheard and realized his brother was helping the prosecution. Before the brothers could get into it, Gloria started her eulogy. She touchingly remembered her hubby and how they met and fell in love. "Some widows would wear black," she said. "William always loved my style." As soon as she was done, Kevin turned back to Michael, told him off and stormed out. Then William — or someone who looked just like him — walked in and said, "Hi!" Gloria passed out on the spot.
Tuesday, August 7, 2007 Lily pumped iron and told Colleen she wasn't venting over her divorce. She admitted to missing Daniel, but insisted, "I'm glad that I'm starting over. I feel lighter." Her resolve looked less believable when she noticed Amber walk in and grimaced. Amber was calling Cane, who answered before realizing who it was. He was short with her, letting her know she'd been cut off at the club and then hung up. Amber took the opportunity to apologize to Lily for sucking Daniel in, but Lily said the blame was on Daniel. As the girls walked away, they overheard Amber being kicked out. Amber asked about job openings, but was instead escorted out. She also asked Gina, but there was nothing available. Kevin talked with Jana, who was in restraints. He tried to keep her spirits up, but she revealed the tumor was stabilized. Since her life was no longer in danger and she had no insurance, the surgery had been called off. "I'm not going to let them treat you like this," he insisted. Later, Colleen gave him an earful about staying away from Jana. That was interrupted by Brad and Logan, so Kevin asked the doc about Jana's future without surgery. She insisted surgery wasn't always the best call, but he raged that, "A patient comes in without insurance, so they get treated with the compassion and resources that a stray dog would get at the pound." He swore he'd help her. Later, Colleen told her father he and Logan were a "cute couple." When he told her to "steer clear" of Jana, she agreed, but said she wouldn't let Kevin go down. Then she went to see Jana, who apologized for trying to kill her. Colleen asked her to send Kevin away, but Jana cried that she couldn't give him up. Later, Colleen defended Jana and Kevin to Lily...until a hottie personal trainer interrupted to flirt with Lily. With the jury deliberating, Michael was nervous about whether Phyllis had skipped town. Lauren empathized with Phyllis, but was sure she would show up for her hearing. Then they helped Gloria prepare for William's memorial. She was upset to hear Kevin was with Jana and Michael said the hospital was within its rights to avoid the surgery, so Kevin shrugged that they'd have to pay for it. His family rolled their collective eyes and when Kevin pushed, they yelled at him. While his family worried after him and then Gloria had a meltdown over William's event, Kevin met up with Amber and Daniel. They whispered over their legal woes and what to do next. Amber quipped they should find the money and go into hiding — but wasn't entirely kidding. Kevin left them to meet with Jana and tell her he was going to pay for her surgery. Ji Min and Jill talked business and flirted, while Kay grumbled. Kay apologized for her "misgivings" about him and said one day he might even deserve her appreciation. Jill insisted her fiancé deserved it now, but all Kay heard was that they were engaged. Cane tried to calm things down, but stood behind his grandmother as she ridiculed "this twisted fairy tale." Jill was happy to move out of the estate, but reminded Kay she owned half of it. Later, Cane tried to play peacekeeper and calm Jill down. He warned it was "easy to be fooled by someone when you fall in love." Then, he plead his mother's case to Katherine, but she was intent on protecting her daughter. She railed about Ji Min's professional lies and insisted he would be no more trustworthy in love. "I know I'm the bad guy, but it's what I owe my daughter," she said, insisting she had to make amends for her past transgressions by protecting Jill. Jill returned on cloud nine after she and Ji Min saw a new house, but Kay shot her down by telling her, "You're out of my will."
Monday, August 6, 2007 Lily initiated divorce proceedings from Daniel, placing the process-launching call right in front of her crestfallen hubby. Daniel interrupted Michael and Lauren's romantic night and asked the lawyer for legal help. Michael patiently attempted to force him to admit he has an addiction to porn, at first to no avail. After an exasperated Michael bellowed at Daniel to get out, a crying Daniel said, "I am an addict" and desperately pleaded for help, and they hugged. Daniel, feeling more humiliated than healed, planned to use Cassie as motivation to get better and told Amber about his new outlook on life. Amber boldly asked the seething Jill if she, Ji Min or one of the Chancellor estate employees has the missing money, causing her pseudo-mother-in-law to blow up at her and tell Amber she would forget that question was asked. Cane and his mother wondered at Amber's audacity, but Jill actually defended Amber's behavior as a result of stress caused by her current troubles. After Kevin and Cane commiserated at a bar about their disastrous girlfriends (with Kevin "winning" by noting Amber didn't try to burn Cane alive), Kevin sat by Jana's hospital bedside, apparently still concerned for the killer's health.
