At the courthouse, everyone waited for Phyllis to arrive. The judge told Michael he has one hour to produce Phyllis or else Michael would be held in contempt of court. Phyllis finally arrived, explaining that she didn't want to take Summer away from her father or leave her son. After, the jury announced that they were unable to come up with a verdict. Michael suggested that a mistrial be declared. Phyllis hoped that it would mean that there was reasonable doubt. She was especially encouraged when one of the jurors smiled at her. Michael urged her not to get her hopes up. Nick admitted that he finds it difficult to trust Phyllis. Michael then informed her that the jury wants Sharon's testimony to be reread, which meant that someone's mind hadn't been made up. Phyllis then learned that Daniel had been fired from Newman. She was upset with Nick for not stepping in and helping Daniel, but Nick pointed out that Daniel almost ruined the company by logging on to a porn site.

Daniel helped Jack with his political work. Jack was impressed with Daniel's willingness to push forward with his life, even while going through his divorce with Lily and recent arrest.

Amber made an appointment for a job interview — though things quickly went south when the company realized who she is. Cane then called her and asked her to meet him at the Chancellor estate. He had her sign a document stating that their marriage wasn't legal and that she wasn't entitled to any of his money. She couldn't believe that he could hate her so much. She insisted that she loves him, but he didn't believe her. He warned her that if she didn't sign, he'd make sure she went to jail. She signed, but was visibly devastated to lose Cane for good. Amber then told Katherine that she deserves a second chance. Kay replied that she hopes Cane and Jill never see her again. Later, Kay tried to comfort an angry and distraught Cane.... Carson offered to help Amber find the missing money.

J.T. accompanied Victoria when she went for a sonogram. Vicky debated whether she wanted to know the baby's sex. They were thrilled when the doctor announced that the baby is healthy. He was about to tell them the baby's gender, but Victoria then decided that she doesn't want to know after all, and wants to be surprised. J.T. did want to know, though, so the doctor whispered it to him. After, at the coffeehouse, J.T. and Victoria admired the sonogram photos and tried to pick one to hang up. Victoria didn't like J.T.'s suggestion of naming the baby "Newman." "You really want this kid to hate me, don't you?" she cracked. He then listed several other potential names, including Samantha and ... Chico. Vicky wasn't impressed.

Sharon met up with Brad at the GCAC. He complained to her about how difficult Victoria is making his life at work. They then discussed the trial and how Phyllis had run off. Brad stated that Phyllis is a horrible mother. Sharon then confessed that she kissed Nick while trapped with him in the bank vault. Brad wondered if she really loves Jack or just admires him. Later, Brad found the sonogram envelope which Victoria left on the break room table at Newman. He looked at the sonogram photo and announced to her that she's having a boy, ruining her surprise.

Michael urged Phyllis to take a deal so she can get less jail time. Phyllis refused and insisted on seeing what the jury had to say. The judge then announced that they reached a verdict.

At Crimson Lights, Kevin fretted to Daniel about all the lowball offers he's received for the coffeehouse and voiced his fear that he won't be able to pay for Jana's brain surgery. At a nearby table, Gloria, fresh off a shopping spree, presented Lauren with a pricey gift. When Kevin walked over, he did not receive her present to him graciously, instead clucking over how much money she'd spent on non-brain related items. He picked up a bottle of expensive wine and snakily asked who it was for. "Him" smirked Gloria as Jeffrey Bardwell strolled up. Kevin, who hadn't been at memorial when Jeffrey arrived, was stunned to see the late Will's twin. Jeffrey asked Kevin's permission to use one of the computers. When he stepped away, Gloria announced her intention to prove he's after her money. Afterward, Glo and Jeffrey had a seemingly friendly conversation, in which she tried to get him to talk all about himself.

At the Chancellor estate, Nikki urged Katherine to reverse Cane's decision to stop construction at Clear Springs. Meanwhile at Newman Enterprises, a gloating Jack told Victor that he hopes the Aussie doesn't go back on his word. They were interrupted by Sharon, who reported that the jury in Phyllis's trial has reached a verdict and the trial would be in session at 3 o'clock. Speaking of, a weeping Phyllis, baby Summer in her arms, was on the phone with Michael, crying that she was going to jump bail. Michael tried to talk sense into Phyllis, who told him not to bother tracing the call and hung up.

Back at the Chancellor manse, Nikki begged Kay for a loan, but she declined.... After mulling it over, Katherine acquiesced, but made it clear that she had to find alternate funding within a week.

Michael found Nick in Victor's office. Nick wasn't at all surprised to hear that his wife had fled and got ready to call the cops, but Michael argued that he'd have a better chance of seeing Summer again if he worked on Phyllis. As Michael stood in the wings pleading with Nick to use charm and sweet talk on Phyllis, Nick instead harshly chided her, which accomplished nothing, but getting her to hang up. Turning to the baby, she told the infant, she'd be known as "Sammy" for a while. Michael moved to Plan B, claiming that the defendant is not feeling well, but on her way to the courthouse. They tracked down Jack and Daniel and filled them in on the real deal. Afterward, Nick ran into his dad and stuck to the cover story that his wife has a bug.... Lauren met up with Michael and worried that covering for Phyllis would get Michael in big trouble, contempt of court et al.... Jack finally reached Phyll and got her to talk over good times, then entreated her to show up at the courthouse. Too bad Sharon walked in and overheard the conversation. Jack told his wife that she has to keep it quiet.... While Daniel and Nick were making calls to spread the virus tale, Phyllis donned a short, dark wig (not her best look, but fugitives don't have time for fashion). She picked up another call from Michael, but again insisted that she had to skip town. A rattled Michael instructed Nick, Daniel and Lauren to show up at court as if they expect her to arrive. He clung to a hunch that she would come back.

Kevin visited the hospital, where he treated Jana to a pedicure, vampy black nail polish of course. She started to mumble somewhat incoherently, claimed to have blurry vision and then cried out as he called for a nurse. When he returned to the coffeehouse, Kevin lambasted Gloria for her refusal to pay for the surgery and issued a threat: Cough up the dough or he'd rat her out for the tainting the Jabot moisturizer and she'd go on trial for murder. Calm, cool and collected Glo didn't flinch as her son threw down a 30-minute deadline and stalked off. A short time later, when he told her time was up, she presented an idea: If Kevin uses the security cameras and computers to dig up info on Jeffrey, a "wealthy benefactor" would pay for Jana's surgeries. He agreed.

Kay and Nikki returned to Newman to tell Victor about their business deal. Once Katherine left, he taunted his wife's supposed lack of business sense, but she countered that she would get what she needs — from him. Nikki proposed using her marital assets for collateral. He advised against it, but when she insisted, Vic told her to draw up the papers.

Michael was unable to get the judge to delay the trial. When 3 p.m. rolled around, the judge asked where the defendant was.

At Crimson Lights, Devon tried to talk Lily out of getting involved in a "rebound" relationship, but Lily firmly maintained that she wants a date. He offered to take her out himself, however Lily pleaded with him to set her up with one of his hunky friends, rattling off a few likely candidates. He reluctantly made a few phone calls, but reported that all of the guys she was interested in were unavailable, claiming one had moved out of town, another was gay, etc. After Lily urged him to keep at it and left, a cute guy wiping tables, advised Devon to turn on his phone next time or else she'd catch on.

Trapped in the sweltering bank vault with Sharon, Nick spoke warmly to her, regretting the breakdown of their marriage and sharing his wish that they'd had another child together. Sharon played it cool. At his insistence, she filled him in on how their marriage soured after Cassie's death, including his affair with Phyllis. "I wish we could go back in time," he sighed before delivering a long a steamy kiss. Sharon eagerly responded, however she dissuaded him from getting too carried away emotionally. He switched gears a bit and sexily asked her to lie down with him, she sexily complied, stroking his bare, muscular arms. After they fell asleep in each other's arms, someone came to the rescue. Sharon hurried to leave; Nick noticed she left an earring behind.

At Newman Enterprises, Nikki, Victoria, Neil and Michael sat down to meet with Victor, who totally played hardball with his wife, refusing to bail her out with a loan to clean up the methane. After blasting him for treating her so badly in front of their daughter, she stormed off with tears in her eyes. She was followed by Victoria, who stopped long enough to chide her dad. Back in Nikki's office, Jack threatened to pull out of the Clear Springs project, she angrily showed him the door.

In the Newman break room, Devon phoned Colleen to ask for help with a plan that must be kept secret from Lily. When Daniel strolled into the break room, Devon ended his call so that he could berate his brother-in-law, who more or less ignored the barbs.... A while later, Neil came in to the break room, where Devon was still sitting. Neil reported that Lily had called him to complain that Devon won't help her get a date and asked his flustered son to please help her out. A clearly vexed Devon claimed to be working on it. He went back home and happily presented Lily with concert tickets, reporting that he also had made them dinner reservations on Friday, the night of the show. Lily cooed her own exciting news: She has a date on the night of the show with a fellow she knows from psych class. Lily also asked Devon to go on a double-date with her — she'd already arranged for Devon to go out with her date's cousin! He was so not happy.

Sharon and Nick returned to Newman, where an anxious Sharon chattered to Jack about the disastrous NVP photo shoot at the vault. When Jack noticed his wife's missing earring, Nick handed it over. Once Jack walked out, Sharon asked Nick if she thought Jack "noticed anything" including the fact that she was blushing. A while later, Nick returned to Sharon to say "I just wanted to tell you that I love you." She jumped up to leave, but he stopped her to add that he knows loving her is his problem, which he has to deal with, but he reiterated that he still loves her and always will. Just then, he got a phone call, the jury had reached a verdict on Phyllis, which would be announced at 3 o'clock. Nick left to go to his wife's trial.

Michael met with Gloria to say he'd conducted a partial background check on Jeffrey Bardwell, who has no criminal record and his story seems to check out. She was irked that Michael hadn't done more digging.

Victoria and Nikki worked the phones, desperately trying to get a loan. They were interrupted by Cane, who had just come from lunch with Katherine. He awkwardly announced that they were stopping construction on Clear Springs, then beat a path out of the room. Neil updated Victor, who made plans to start drilling. Neil realized that Victor had kept Michael out of the loop. Victor said it was time to get bids for when his wife's company defaults.
