Adolfo Larrue Martinez, a.k.a. A Martinez, was born in Glendale, Calif. As a child, his family referred to him as "Little A" in order to distinguish him from his father and grandfather. Martinez’s heritage is Native American, Spanish and Mexican.

Martinez performed in various singing talent competitions that earned him top titles, including at an event in the Hollywood Bowl when he was only 12 years old. During his high school years, he performed in a rock band and ran track. At UCLA, he discovered his passion for acting.

Martinez also played semi-pro baseball for five years. He came onto the daytime scene in 1984, as Cruz Castillo on the popular NBC soap, SANTA BARBARA. During his run on SB, he was half of one of soaps’ most popular supercouples with Marcy Walker (Eden). After SB ended in 1992, Martinez went on to do prime-time work, appearing on shows such as L.A. LAW and THE PROFILER. From 1999-2002, he did a stint on GENERAL HOSPITAL as Roy DiLucca. He joined ONE LIFE TO LIVE in the fall of 2008.
