The 411
The king of quips, on-screen and off, Kin Shriner has been both a dramatic and a comedic favorite of soap audiences for nearly 30 years. The son of late comedian Herb Shriner and the twin brother of comedian/director Wil, Kin first made a name for himself in daytime in 1977 when he joined GH as the sixth actor to play earnest, young, law student Scotty, who found first love with Laura, but was forever changed after she ended up with Luke. Shriner left GH in 1980 to join TEXAS as Jeb, but returned to Port Charles (and now-scoundrel Scotty) the next year. He stayed until '84, but again departed to take on another soap role — this time as Mike on RITUALS. The lure of GH called him home once again in 1988; he remained there until 1993. BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL was where he landed as Brian from 1995-96, but the Scott siren call proved too strong. In 1997, he brought the character to brand-new GH spin-off PORT CHARLES, where he remained until 2000 before going back to GH as the devious D.A. After he was let go in 2004, he made a quick stop on YOUNG AND RESTLESS as Harrison in late 2004 before heading back East to AS THE WORLD TURNS as Keith in early 2005, where he fit in quite nicely — evidenced by his invention of the "ATWT Sandwich." Pilot Keith flew out of Oakdale a year later, and in early 2007, the actor took his Scotty suit out of mothballs once more and slipped back into P.C. during the Metro Court hostage crisis to stir up a little more trouble in the burg he's called home (on and off) for the last three decades.
Et Cetera

—He enjoys boating and scuba diving in his spare time and named a boat The Serena after his PC on-screen daughter, Serena (Carly Schroeder).
—He spent the summer of 1996 in Florence, Italy, where he taught a drama class for UCLA.

Memorable Quotes
"After [Scotty] found out that Luke had raped Laura, all he got to do was stomp around yelling, 'I'll get you, Spencer,' and then he ran off to Mexico." — on Scott's first exit from Port Charles, Soap Opera Digest, 3/30/82
"I haven't done an interview in I don't know how long because I had nothing to say of any importance, and I got sick of hearing myself talk about nothing." — Digest, 7/24/90
"If a cop's been a cop for 23 years, he can walk into a room and know somebody's guilty. After doing the job for so long, he has a cop's nose. I have a soap nose. So, if I walk into a scene and say, 'Something's not right here,' it's just instinct." — Digest, 12/21/99
"I haven't seemed to stop it from turning. I was here 25 years ago on the stage when it was TEXAS. It was a little strange to come back — like going back to college. When I walked in here, it all came flooding back to me." — on going to work at his new job at ATWT's Brooklyn studios, Digest, 2/8/05
