Massachusetts native Marnie Shulenburg grew up playing sports, but always loved musical theater. She studied that discipline while she attended DeSales University in Pennsylvania. During her time there, she also became involved in the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival.
Once she graduated with a degree in acting and directing, she moved to New York City, where she roomed with her brother Gus, got a job as a waitress and went on auditions.
In early 2007, she was picked to be a recast for ATWT's Alison (last played by Jessica Dunphy). However, she actually got her start on Y&R, where Alison crossed over to appear in scenes with Amber (Adrienne Frantz) and Cane (Daniel Goddard). The women also starred in the online extra, L.A. DIARIES, where Alison and Amber's past as porn stars was detailed.
Once she moved to Oakdale, Schulenburg had the formidable task of not only being a recast, but playing Alison as a drug-addicted porn star. She pulled it off, though, and has become a full-fledged member of the show's Stewart family, along with Marie Masters (Susan) and Kelley Menighan Hensley (Emily).

Memorable Moments
"I just feel a lot more settled in myself as an actor. Of course, it's easier to be more myself in the character when she's not addicted to crystal meth!"
— On playing drug-addled Alison, Soap Opera Digest, 1/22/08
"It's an ongoing joke because it is so not even close to my own path. So, as much as everybody gives me a hard time or finds it amusing, they always respond, ‘Well, there's a lot of talk about you.' It's pretty intense so it's going to get people's attention."
